Saber Extra's Alternative Eyes

Her extra eyes has been a concern for me since seeing volks's promotional photos. I didn't think much of it at the time but now that I got myself a pair... are they cloudy or is it just me?

What do you guys think? Any comparison shots between these and other Volks eyes? I am not sure if this was intentional or an accident. I've never seen Volks eyes this washed out before.

I agree with you tho, they do have a hazy/cloudy look to them. They aren't nearly as crisp and clean looking as other Volks eyes are but I think that's one reason I like them so much.... they're different. So it's not just you, the Saber Extra extra eyes are a little cloudy/hazy looking.

I didn't like the look of them in my hand but once I put them in Mai, they looked a lot different. And they still have a shine to them even tho I don't think they're metallic. I think in bright light they have more of that hazy look to them. If you check my Reiko story about her meeting her sisters, you'll see closeups of Mai where her eyes don't look as cloudy.

I'm guessing the "haziness" is intentional on Volks's part. The characters in Fate/Extra were designed and drawn by a different artist than from the original game, which leads to a slightly different take on what they look like. In particular, the eyes aren't the classic bright anime eyes, but rather are more subdued.

I've always found them to be quite hazy from the first time pictures of her appeared. It might be what contributed to me not liking her as much as Saber Alter.

I haven't looked at mine since the day my Saber arrived... lol

 

Here's a pic of the pre-painted 06 head wearing them. Yes, this pic is from the Volks DD blog but I saw this girl last October at the Akihabara showroom and she was adorable - whenever I get my 06 head back from "the spa" she'll be sporting the Saber alternate eyes

I'm pretty sure it's done for effect. It's a neat little bonus item. I might use them for a custom head.... if I ever get around to opening Nero... or ever get around to customizing a head....

Oh, they do look cute in the 06 head, hmm...

 

I hadn't paid much attention, but they do have a slightly greyish/washed out feeling. I think it makes them blend with the skintones better, it does imitate the painterly style of the art in that way. I can definitely see it now that I look at my photos again.
