bethykins Posted October 14, 2012 Hello I am supposed to be reciveing a Sakuno head as part of a partial trade however when the person went To get her out an package her yesterday they found that from how she has been kept in storage he has recieved some pretty bad stains. Because some are close to her face-up I was wondering if it would still be possible to remove them successfully? Or if anyone had had an experience like this before? I would also be grateful if anyone knows how much she is worth in this condition roughly??? I have a gorgeous family of DD girls See my profile for a list of my beauties!! aquilla429 Posted October 14, 2012 I am by no means an expert on staining, so don't take my word as 100% solid truth but I have had a mark on a DD face before (this is going back a long time so I don't remember all the detail). When I had tried to remove the mark, it removed some of the faceup coating with it. The edge around the coating went a powdery white colour and the actual vinyl underneath was a lighter colour as it had seen no surface dirt. In the end, for me personally, I opted to wipe the default volks face and get he redone by a faceup artist. With removing stains like that, I would advise you to asses how you feel about her factory face. Are you attatched to that particular face, or would you get her redone to look something different? If you are happy with a redone face, then just do what you need to and get the stains removed. If the factory faceup does get ruined in the process, you will have been prepared to get it redone anyway. If you really want to retain her factory default, my advice would be to either pass on having her, cover the stains with a long wig and/or accessories and love her as she is, or risk removing stains, with the downside that you could lose the face you fell in love with. It's such a shame she got that way, Sakuno has been on my most wanted list since release but I've not had the opportunity to get her, seeing her in a state like that is kinda depressing for the poor thing. I wish I could take her and give her some loving. With regard to value in that state, the last auction I saw for her on yj! was about 25kyen bin for a mint condition head, no staining or faults about 4-6 months ish ago? Due to the extreme levels of staining on that head her value I would say is significantly lower. I know she's still a limited head, but I would say somewhere in the region of 15k-20kyen all in would be a fair range. But again, that is just my thoughts and I could well be wrong, I haven't seen her for sale for a while! Good luck with whatever you do with her, I'll be sitting here feeling a little bit jealous regardless of how she looks! SakuraSylph Posted October 15, 2012 It is possible to remove staining from the doll's face without damage. You ought to take care not to let the Oxy sit on any painted area and it's best to cover up any unstained areas of the face with a towel so they won't get too much direct light (for long-term fading prevention). You'll also want to bake the treatment for less time (perhaps 2 hours at a go instead of 4) in order to be careful with it. In this manner I have successfully de-stained some marks right in the middle of the faceup (nose and eyebrow area) on a rescue gal. SakuraSylph
