Tygra Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) I'm customizing my 1st DD into Chii from Chobits. I'm using these as references A girl I know did a wonderful job with the faceup. Her current eyes are too big, but I'm waiting for 20mm ones from Volks sometime next week. I'm hoping these will work better. Today I spent 2hrs to produce a pair of matching decent foam persicom ears. Now I'm wondering how to attach them safely to her 'human' ears. I read on the forum some folks use hot glue for the eyes & torso, but my BF fears using hot glue would damage the Vinyl or the faceup (I have a glue gun low temp 120V 10W) I'm hoping since it works with eyes, the UHU-Tac I ordered through Amazon will work for the persicom ears. But I'm afraid it'll leave residual. Would Scotch Restickable strips for mounting or Command Brand damage-free hanging poster strips work, considering the packaging claims "removes cleanly"? If not, what other alternative would you suggest? On a very positive note the other day I found the perfect outfit from Alice's Collection. So she's coming along Edited October 21, 2012 by Guest
Ravendruid Posted October 21, 2012 If she's not going to be too active, the Volks eye putty might work. Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
Tygra Posted October 21, 2012 I don't have Volks eye putty, but I did order UHU-Tac. If she's not going to be too active, the Volks eye putty might work.
Poofiemus Posted October 24, 2012 You could do magnets for the ears, one pair in the persocom ears and the other pair inside the head behind the normal ears, held in with eye putty/poster tack. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
Bellatrix Posted October 24, 2012 Or just try searching for old 01 head with ears XD it's not really expensive. ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
Tygra Posted October 28, 2012 My Dollfie Dream customized as a combination between Chii from "Chobits" & the twins Chiho and Chise in "Kobato" wearing a kimono (unfortunately too tight) I sewed. DD are what got me into the doll hobby, but I never thought I'd be able to have one. Years later, here is my 1st grail doll! PS Because foam is a smooth surface, only hot glue worked for attaching the persicom ears.
Ravendruid Posted October 28, 2012 The face is perfect. The instant I saw her face I said "OMG, that's Chii!" Most "character" dolls take me a bit to recognize, but she was instant. Great job! Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
Tygra Posted October 28, 2012 Awww thank you, Ravendruid! To be honest when I first started out with her I was afraid she wouldn't turn out as perfectly as she did (me being picky ect). But you know, even without the persicom ears, she's recognizable and you can't really beat that! The face is perfect. The instant I saw her face I said "OMG, that's Chii!" Most "character" dolls take me a bit to recognize, but she was instant. Great job!
