The Bakemonogatari Project

Well, I'm changing this around. I've decided I want to take on the task on making the entire cast of Bakemonogatari (and maybe pull a couple from Nise as well). I've been going back and forth on this idea, and I think I'm willing to give the time and focus towards this... I want opinions though! I am aware that things aren't a perfect match, but I'm gonna go out of my way to mod and fix things to help make them look closer to what they would hopefully! But please, give me your opinion!

As of right now 07 is the choice with the option to mod if necessary. I've got a face-up slot waiting for her so all I need is for her to come home. I took the DDII body from my Lily as I bought her a DDIII a while back, and am just waiting for her outfits + wig. I happened to acquire a pair of Kanu eyes a while back and noticed style wise I believe they fit Gahara nicely? She'll be the first done and if I like it enough I think I'll be motivated enough to continue forward!

 

Shinobu Oshino Loli Ver.

Notes: I am leaning toward doing the expression above for her. I could easily go with a expression like the GSC figure, but I have yet to decide if I want to. Currently the idea I've got going is buying a unopened eyed 04 head, and then shave the cheeks, and crack the eyes to fit that look. I have a modder who is up for the challenge and is pretty good with this so I'll see if that's the idea I'm sticking with. This is the Loli ver. if you somehow have managed to miss that, so she'll come with a MDDIII body for sure whenever I get the chance. Wig will be either a buy that I alter, or I'll see about commissioning this. Clothing is already in discussion about commissioning for the future. I am currently undecided if I want to make the adult (Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade) form.

This is the expression I'll be using for Tsukihi! I have considered completely modding a unopened eyed 06 head for it. (Making it fit the eye and mouth shape) As of right now I haven't thought of anything beyond that. Most likely DDS body.

I've currently chosen DDH-07 to be Gahara, but before that I had been considering throwing out the money and getting Sakuya for the role. Upon review I figured that DDH-07 would do fine, but was hoping to see if I can get some other opinions?

 

I suppose between those two heads it would be how much you want her eyes to squint. If im honest of what I've seen of the DDH-07 heads thats closer to the smiling picture of hitagi, while sakuyas is a bit more towards the frowning one.

 

If you've planned on doing her without a custom faceup, sakuyas could be closer than what I saw being offered for the DDH-07 at volks usa. But not 100% sure is the difference big enough to cover the price difference between the heads.

 

Body wise M-bust is rather close. in comparison Hanekawa was much more endowed, though I didint think she managed into L territory yet.

 

Now the trouble is, where are you going to find that stationary-print fabric for her unmentionables?

I would agree with you. I pretty much ended up deciding if I wanted her eyes bigger or smaller. I just couldn't seem to find any other heads that seemed fit for her, or at least appeared to be. I didn't want her eyes too big after all, nor too round. I considered actually getting DDH-07 modded, but I'm undecided about that. I do know someone who does good work and would happily work on vinyl for me so something I can consider. I figured if I changed Sakuya's face-up she could be less of a tsun face and more dere. xD

 

Ah, even if I got Sakuya I would have customized her. I don't mind wiping away a LE face-up. I've done it to countless Volks molds before, including DD! I've never once minded spending the money for the best, it is more that just a Sakuya head doesn't come up on the market as much as I want...

 

Agreed! I considered do Hanekawa, but when I had decided two was the limit otherwise I'd have almost the entire cast....>.>;

 

oTL;; The only thing that I am not gonna be able to get. Oh sad that they must escape me!

...Senjoughara outfits were promised to be shown this weekend but again have been delayed, updated that I'm going the entire crew now. ^^;

I so want to see the full cast! I'm so in love with this series. Really unique!

Thank you! I'm really hoping to get Gahara done so I can see if I really want to go through the work to get the rest of the girls (and boy <3) done!

 

The biggest challenge will most likely be the funds, and the fact that a lot of the things I personally am not capable of making. That, and just figuring out molds....

Yeah, a lot of details will be added in the face-up, which I plan to make a point that they must be copied from the show. Luckily, current face-up artist I'm just camping on a slot for is fine with doing that.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot SQLab has those gigantic ones. I'm sure I could neatly remove the tops, but then it is a matter of making sure it doesn't look off. Hmm, another thing to look into. As well as the 05 idea. I can see that working out. I only plan to separate her by head because I believe it too much to have an entire doll for her, but I wouldn't mind having the pajamas/wig/ears/head that I can swap on when needed. Why havn't i thought about using my tablet and draw on the DDH pics to check if it fits or not? such a great idea!. i think the araragi sisters will work nicely like that

It is a pretty smart idea if you just want an idea of what it'll look like with that head. I think they'll do good, it is unfortunate that I can't get Shinobu or Koyomi quite right, but I will keep trying!

 

I think I'll change Koyomi's eyes to be a bit more narrow and Shinobu's eyes will be a bit more rounded up top. I'll see, I'll see.

Extra note: I think I'll just go with a Obitsu 55cm body for Koyomi. I'll need to get my 07 head in (Gahara) to take a look over (Should be shipped soon!). If she doesn't match I'm gonna totally tear apart of 03 head instead.

 

I did debate actually going out and trying to find a resin head to match him, but honestly I really don't want to go through so much. If there was a head out there that'd match him there is a very high chance I'd already know it. Plus, I'm far pickier with resin.

 

I've confirmed I'll be doing 04 for the Fire Sisters, and for Shinobu. I'm gonna see about buying those head (got to see if I win Aoko first or not) and then sending off to a modder who seems excited for the challenge. Unfortunately, my past experiences with modding prove I can't do it myself so I'd rather pay the funds and get it done right instead of having wasted heads. ^^;;

sounds like a plan. btw, how tall are a DD compared to obitsu 55cm boy? is Koyomi taller or shorter than any of the girls?

Well the DDII is 58cm if I am not incorrect, so I'm worrying about him being too short. He needs to be at least as tall as Gahara (They are about the same height in the show anyways). I figured if things are a bit too off I may modifying him to be a bit taller if I can...that's kinda up in the air. I did consider building a 60cm body and putting the 55cm torso parts onto it as it appears that it magically has a similar size torso...but I don't know how that'd work out? He always wears pants so not like you'd see the fact he's got womanly pants anyways. XD

If you don't mind him being taller than Gahara, this year Obitsu finally released the 65cm boy body, so that's an option too. Though putting the 55cm torso onto the 60cm girl legs is a pretty common kitbash/mod, and either Parabox or Junkyspot sells dolls preassembled that way. So you've got a few options to consider actually.

I now got 1000$ for my shinobu but i dont know anyone who want to make it. >_> The people are busy or dont answer (or answer after 1-3 month)
