mitsuki Posted October 22, 2012 Rin has been wanting to go see Smashing Pumpkins. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4471 Luckily, they are currently touring for their latest album Oceania. This meant Rin had the chance to go see them. Not only was she able to go but she was right in front! It was an amazing show that can't be described in words. A massive globe was suspended over the stage for the Oceania Tour. The images projected on the globe were designed by visual artist Sean Evans, who also worked on Roger Waters' "The Wall" tour. Rin before the show. A shot of Rin in front of the stage. Billy Corgan, the planet's coolest guy. Rin and I were just a few feet away from the stage. Corgan-sensei! Rin was absolutely thrilled. The whole experience was indescribable, and we would love to go back to see it one hundred more times. We are looking forward to the next tour.
Traveller Posted October 22, 2012 Your first concert is always a huge thrill and even a bigger thrill if it's a group/band you've wanted to see for a long time. Glad rin had a great time and she was near the front to see the action.
scripple Posted October 22, 2012 Rin, turn around! The band is *behind you*. You're missing it. Check out my new DollFun website. Share your own doll photos with free image hosting.
mitsuki Posted October 22, 2012 Thank you, Traveller! It was a spectacular show! Rin loved it. We hope they tour again someday. You are hilarious, scripple. These are the only shots of Rin during the 2.5 hour event when she was looking toward me for dobleepentation purposes. The other 1,000 photos are of the band while she was looking at the stage. Here is a photo with the tip of one of the bows in Rin's hair showing in the corner of the photo as she is looking at the stage. One security guard teased her before the show that she kept staring at him. Once Corgan-sensei was on stage, there was pretty much only one place to stare. I can do a "Corgan-sensei a day" for a couple years. But Corgan-sensei is a bit off topic.

mitsuki Posted October 22, 2012 Thank you, Bellatrix and Janeway! It was such a wonderful experience. I was worried Rin might be squished up in front. We were so lucky to be next to the Pumpkins' official photographer who is such a wonderful and sweet person. She made sure Rin and I were safe. She has our gratitude for all she did for us. There was one guy trying to push us all over, and she helped us stand our ground. The Pumpkins and everyone working with them are just amazing. Our concierge William was awesome too. He wrote my name down with a heart for the dot in the "i".
Innocentsake Posted October 22, 2012 This is so awesome that you took Rin with you to the show! It's obvious she had the best time ever seeing her favorite band live and in person

mitsuki Posted October 26, 2012 Thank you, Salica! The security guard asked me if I had to buy two tickets. I said only 1 and one third. haha Yes, they just came out with their latest album. They have plans to release the next one by Christmas 2013. I am looking forward to it. I am glad that you like them too. Billy Corgan is spectacular! I love his voice and his insane talent with the guitar.
Ravendruid Posted October 26, 2012 Just out of curiosity, what songs would you recommend to someone curious about Smashing Pumpkins? Are there any songs I should avoid if I want to like them right away? I'm pretty flexible with music, but for some reason, never got around to checking these guys out. Anyways, I'm glad that there are at least some venues out there that seem to be doll friendly! I'm always nervous about taking Yuriko to extra-public places like that, because I'm never sure if they'd be ok with it. Some places seem to have walls full of rules about what you're not allowed to bring/wear/do. Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
mitsuki Posted October 27, 2012 I will send you some Pumpkins, Ravendruid. hehe I am really glad that the Pumpkins are great about letting fans take photos and record shows. They are such a great band. I am glad the people I was around at the front were so nice aside from the one pushy drunk guy. haha I guess there is always one of those at concerts. Galvatim Posted October 27, 2012 You could've been sitting behind 3 drunk guys who kept standing up... Haha, they weren't too annoying though. The Pumpkins really do treat their fans well. They put on a great show too.

This is mostly unusal to hear that a band allows pics & vids to be taken Most concerts say - no pics or vids, if seen will be asked to destroy or leave Good to see then be different to other bands, although they are not my cup of tea
mitsuki Posted October 27, 2012 I love tea! So does Corgan-sensei. haha Seriously though I love that they are so down to earth about recording. It makes the whole experience even better. I can take home a wonderful souvenir and share it with my friends who weren't able to go.
kaylynh1 Posted November 26, 2012 so was the crowd pretty mellow? asking cause all the concerts i go to seem to be almost unsafe for me let alone my dollfie > At home: Carrie (kos-mos), Mia (miku),Bjd's: Creator (soom sard), riley (bobobie Apollo mod), Quinn (feeple 60 Chloe mod), Chloe (leekeworld tan mickhaila) Eventually: rise kujikawa, saber extra, mariko, alisa
Galvatim Posted November 26, 2012 so was the crowd pretty mellow? asking cause all the concerts i go to seem to be almost unsafe for me let alone my dollfie >< Mitsuki was in the very front, next to the official photographer, and didn't have much trouble. I was sitting up in the balcony, and the guys in front of me kept standing up which was a little annoying. All in all, a pretty mellow crowd, and the Pumpkins had specifically asked for no moshing or body surfing.
mitsuki Posted November 28, 2012 The people up at the front weren't too bad. There was one pushy guy but like Galvatim said the official photographer tried to reason with him to minimize his disturbance to the group. Also like Galvatim mentioned, the Pumpkins asked people to not mosh or push. There have been a couple deaths at their shows many years ago. Safety is a very serious matter for them.
