juu-yuki Posted October 24, 2012 I am one of those people who are scared of dolls, but for some reason my DD girls doesn't scared me. I can have them staring at me while I sleep with no problems. Now, SDs are a whole different story. Is it the eyes thing? SDs look slightly creepy to me, but DDs don't. I wonder if that's because people tend to put glass eyes in resins? I'm putting acryllic circular, more realistic looking eyes in a doll (waiting for them to arrive) instead of the usual DD animetics, because I couldn't find animetic eyes in the precise green shade and size (Twin Snow makes the right color, but the eyes are too big - I need 20mm) I wanted them to be. I hope it doesn't make my DD seem creepy to me all of a sudden! I think it has something to do with the eyes but mainly the face. They look a bit too real compared to DDs. Some, if not most of them look like zombies to me. SDs have that mysterious dark look to them, compared to the sweet/ cute look that DDs have. The tiny little YO-SD dolls are cute though, I am not too scared of those ones unless they have big black bug eyes or if the eyes are too light, makes them look souless. Twin-Snow won't be getting 20mm until next year. Do you need them in a Rise or an Alna? http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com

I wouldn't keep such doll at home but there are people, who have dozens of resins and they all look like advanced tuberculosis cases. But the owners find them pretty or even "oh so beautiful"... I have one resin. I told the artist, that I want a natural faceup and she turned out okay. Don't have any problems with her looking at me, even at night Undine

It's kind of the reason why the only company I'd consider buying a resin doll from these days (except SQlab) is BlueFairy. Their dolls have simple face-up and aren't really that realistic looking. Kumi Posted October 25, 2012 In case of resin bjds, You can always (well, almost) choose to buy a blank head and later commission any faceup You want. Or You can wipe the existing one and make a new. Why some people want such creepy faceups is kinda beyond me...
Bellatrix Posted October 25, 2012 If they aren't scared, I think it's okay having pale and creepy dolls. I personally don't have problems with DDs, probably because they are too anime style. I don't own any BJD so far so I can't tell my reaction to them... I don't think I would be scared anyway. I'm MUCH more scared by old styled dolls, made of sewed fabric, especially the really old ones, or clown dressed. Like this, even this is not that bad: There is a very ugly and bad doll at my chief's home (she is an old lady, I'm kind of her underpaid secretary xD) of hers when she was a kid, with all sewe parts in the face, eyes, lashes... It really scares me evverytime I stare at. ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩

I bet if I painted a DD with a more "SD" style they will still come out cute (given the right choice of eyes). http://juu-yuki.com Dolly Shop: http://www.lizanna.com
N2DollsNow Posted October 26, 2012 I have a few resin dolls and one DD so far, and none of them have ever caused me any uneasiness. I chose them based on what was attractive and soothing to me. My wife wasn't happy with Johanna's character ( a resin bjd ) , but after putting her in a nice modern outfit and different wig, she's been mollified. I've agreed to try different eyes. But she isn't losing sleep over the doll. DD Kotori is just anime cute, so nothing creepy there. But I can understand the comments above describing people who put them away so they can sleep. After having seen what some choose to do with theirs, I don't blame them. Regarding the fantasy of them coming alive, I'd rather they didn't. They'd probably get bored with me. They'd want money, phones, more clothes, money, more shoes, cars, money, cameras, boyfriends,...did I mention money? Now that's scary!
Suzuna Posted November 30, 2012 After I first got Suzuna, creepy things started happening all over my house - stuff moving around (her included, though only small movements), strange thuds at night that weren't the usual house settling noises I was used to. I also had frequent dreams about her trying to make sure I didn't leave the house even though I've never been afraid of a doll before! By far the creepiest thing that happened was my fiance having "never" scratched onto his back. When we compared it to her fingertips, the size was right. Honestly it's so ridiculous I almost want to say someone was screwing with me, but how could someone invade my dreams too? Anyway, I finally just sat down with her and talked to her like she was a person, said I wouldn't get rid of her and that I would get her a friend. After I got Ayanna (my DDh06 MDD) and placed them side by side, the weird stuff has stopped.
laces Posted December 12, 2012 I got up in the middle of the night once and noticed that Mirai's head had moved to the side... I put it straight again and practically ran back to my bedroom!
katnaper Posted December 12, 2012 There is a reason why I don't watch horror stories, much less horror stories that feature dolls in them. Fortunately, I've not had any scary experiences with the girls or boys in my household. If I did, then really don't know what I'd do. We have our own BLOG. Too vivid an imagination I guess? That and having had actual scary experiences with things that moved on their own when no one was around, I don't really think my heart would be able to take it if the dolls did the same. Aww, but we like our resin dolls to look gothic or artsy or punk style instead of just cutesy. It's just a different aesthetic! Like visual kei vs jpop! Anyway, I'm not scared of dolls, unless they are misshapen uncanny old dolls, or reborn baby dolls. No horror stories here. Lol a few years ago we had a little girl living in our house, she use to levitate the dog..I assume picking him up (not a word of lies here) I saw her a few times, and got use to it. And things always moved. Then she just left. I was hagged on a Friday the 13th also. I am not a person who is into the paranormal, but it's a good heart racer lol! Saspen Posted January 22, 2013 All of my life I've been terrified of dolls, that is until I found Dollfie Dream's. I used to actually own a very old and yet beautiful doll who I kept perched on my dresser, but soon I was convinced she was watching me, and also I thought she would blink and mock me behind my back. Soon I just ended up breaking one of her legs from playing with her(since I was very young when I had her) and she soon found her way into the garbage can. I'm pretty sure she was worth over a $1,000 since she was very very old. But I'm glad I got rid of her since she WAS very creepy.
Ekidonia Posted January 29, 2013 Even if i don't tust about supernatural, I have a lot of imagination. My dear brain seems to love to think about creepy stories that i red and what i watched, so it makes somes troubles sometimes before i sleep. I don't think my girls are alive (i hope they're not !) and something else. They are just very big (and expensive), cute action figures. They are in plastic but when my brain decide to think a bit, it's hard ^^' The "big" problem is, when i'm gonna sleep, i sitch on my little lamp, their eyes (they all have Twin Snow eyes) shine in the dark and they seems to stare at me. Now, I have closed them in my showcase and turn their head in an other direction. When i hear a strange noise, it's always my rats when they play, so it doesn't disturb me.
