Volks News Vol 50

So... I'm curious - are just the DDH-05 & 06 heads the lottery option mentioned on volksusa's description? I'm about to nab the DD2 book to try for a prepainted 07 and 05 looks really cute but I noticed the vol 50 leaflet and figured why not? (esp since shipping is ridonkulas..) there's also mention of Ah My Goddess somewhere? What is that just one of the 12" barbie style dolls? (if only they'd make a Belldandy, Urd, or /swoon Peroth DD)

It's not dolls for the Ah My Goddess thing. It's figures. Volks makes figures and models in addition to dolls.

 

Yeah, it's the DDH-05 and the DDH-06 Magical Ruby available through Volks News 50. You can only get pre-paints for those. The DDH-06 Magical Ruby costs a little bit more because it comes with special red eyes.

No idea. There's no way to get one yet. All you can get is either this Volks News 50 pre-paint, or get the older limited DDs that had this head.

 

They'll probably come out in the future, I imagine, judging from things like the DDH-06. That was originally more limited too, but then it came out as a regular head for anyone to buy.

It was limited to Volks VS/VIP members for the first run of the head pre-orders. Yes, this included the blank ones. I'm talking about later on (not too much) when they started stocking the DDH-06 in stores.

 

They're doing the same thing right now with the DDH-07. You can only get the 07 (in Japan) if you're a VS/VIP member *and* have the DD Fanbook 2 order form *and* pre-order before October 31st or (in US) if you win the lottery after buying DD Fanbook 2. But they'll make these available to everybody (blanks, anyway) soon enough.

But Urd would be a awesome tanned DD - any doll from that series would be an instabuy o__o

Hrmm I really wanted the 05... I guess I'll have to wait till she becomes a standard head someday haha. ^^;

*Waits in line for a blank 05 head* I wish we knew when it would be available for regular order, I am desperate for that head and have to stop myself a lot of the time from spilling the beans about my plans. I am so bad at waiting and keeping surprises to myself.

Indeed. The Ah Megami-sama mangaka also did character design for Sakura Taisen (his name is Fujishima Kousuke). I'm not sure if that means anything since the ST license could have been through SEGA rather than the designer directly.. ..but I would only be guessing at how doll licenses work at that point.

 

Sure would be nice to have a 1/3 Skuld Debugging Mallet to keep on my desk. Software would get cleaned up in half the time, for sure...

LOL, no. She knows Tamayuki and Yuriko by name, Half the time she remembers who Naiomi is (the other half she thinks she's Yuriko) and knows about Rainie in passing because her swapping bodies so much and being a floating head just confuses the issue. When I talk to her and just say DD she has no idea what I'm talking about. She definitely knows who Dolly is, but the few other EB we have she thinks are also Dolly (even when there are three of them sitting out...)

 

As for the marketability of my mom, everyone thinks she's a sweet old lady. Part of the problem is I think she's been a little old lady since she was twelve. I'm sure she is close to someone's ideal grandmother, but once you have to live with her there's no hiding the fact that she has more than a few bats in the belfry. Nothing harmful, but trying to hold a conversation with her can be er... interesting. All I can say is that there is real world logic, and then mom logic, and never the two shall meet.

 

Sad part is that even as I type this, I fear the day I become just like my mother. Now I'm trying to figure out if that is better or worse than being the eccentric aunt?

 

As for an Ah My Goddess DD, I would have to cast my vote for Urd and she could be one I'd have to have. Belldandy is pretty and sweet, but a serious bubblehead. At this point Tama and Naiomi have the sweetness and light personalities covered, I want some troublemakers to liven it up around here.

With their plans to release KOS-MOS, I wish they would release this gal too...

I don't think so. I think it's the faceup + eyes that just give it the optical illusion that the eye holes are smaller.

Actually. they picture you see there is a closed eye head with painted on eyes. There's a tutorial in the book to show you how they did it! Maybe that's why it seems smaller.
