mangaemi Posted October 23, 2012 So yeah I'm putting this in the newbie section b/c I feel really newbish asking.. XD already starting to paint my Tsukihime doll ( ) and I'm using a nail detail brush and it works so well that now i want to go back and redo my other faceups on my other two dollfie heads... they've been sprayed with ZM spray before the faceup was done, then after the paint was done then after pastels were done. should I just use standard thinner to remove the old faceup? will there be any staining that I have to remove with removezit? my very first faceup was done in a brown so I'm hoping that the reds in the brown didnt stain too much. and also, how many times can you just straight wipe a head back to blank? is it just as many times as you want or does the vinyl eventually retain some of the color thru the zm spray? and should I use a magic eraser with thinner or just water or alchohol? the two faceuped heads I want to wipe are both NS, though i'd also like to know if that process is different for whiteskins... just incase a few months or yeras from now I want to start over on my whiteskin head ^^; ♥ ★ ✮ ~ Amassing an army of Anime Cuties ~ ✮ ★ ♥ The Family: Sheryl, Ranka, Kirika, Arlex2, Yoko, Snow Miku, Haruka, Student Mariko, Prisma Illya, Akira, Maria, Cirno, Noumi, Asuna Titania, Sakuya on the way: want: Sailor Moon, Miki, Yukiho
Bellatrix Posted October 23, 2012 I use nail polish remover (Maybelline NY) that's great on DDs, it doesn't damage the vinyl. I cleaned Kotori and Nemu heads something like 5 times each time and the vinyil is still like new. Still, I bought long ago a pair of heads to practice, but one was damaged by some kind of paint cleaner, and the vinyl was all little bubbled in the eyes area. I used the nail polish remover and the bubbles became bigger, but it didn't effected the other head I bought, that came from the same loot (made in 2002 or 2003). Maybe the previous owner used a kind of bad remover that damaged the vinyl a lot (and that I made even worse...) so be careful with the brands you use! ✩ 𝓥𝓲𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓶 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔁 ✩
Jezrah Posted October 23, 2012 I've used Testors brand thinner to remove full or partial faceups. I saw no damage to the vinyl, but I only did it to NS heads, not WS. Like you I sealed the head before painting, and I had no staining from the previous faceup. You can get Testors stuff in craft stores with the model car kits and stuff. Btw, Tsukihime is looking good so far!
