Trick or Treat: Agatha and Nanoha Open Packages

 

(I walk in and see the girls chatting)

 

 

Nanoha: "I'm not saying it *is* an intelligent device, but the capabilities of the sonic screwdriver could easily be *replicated* by an intelligent device. And then some."

 

 

Agatha: "And I still think this whole idea of a magically generated artificial intelligence is ridiculous, because *magic* is ridiculous."

 

 

Hey girls, I've got some mail for you!

Nanoha: "Really?"

Remember those packages we sent out a few weeks ago for the swap? Now we get to be on the receiving end instead!

 

 

Agatha: "Really? Hm. Perhaps this will provide good data for my research on the sociology of gift exchanges and the effect they have on social hierarchy."

 

 

Nanoha: "It's going to be one of those days, isn't it? Please tell me we still have ibuprofen for the headache I'm getting."

 

 

One of the packages is for you, Nanoha. Does that help your headache?

Nanoha: "Really? I'd honestly forgotten I was getting one too! That does help, thank you."

 

 

Agatha gets hers first because that's the only one labeled right on the front. We'll have to guess which of the other two is Nanoha's.

 

 

(tears into the packaging)

Nanoha: "Um, I think that said to use a letter opener there on the end, not--"

 

 

Agatha: "Uhp uhp uhp! Science."

 

 

Nanoha: (sigh)

Agatha: "Now let's see what this is!"

 

 

Agatha: "Ah, a cellophane container designed to resemble a mummy--judging by the wrapping and the dental issues, one of Egyptian origin. And there's something sticking out."

 

 

Agatha: "Ah, a relief sculpture of a skeleton! The cranial structure is inaccurate, but the appendages are well rendered."

 

 

Agatha: "Oh! Poof, look! It's lovely!"

Nanoha: "It's pretty, but what is it?"

 

 

Agatha: "It's a hair clip!"

 

 

Nanoha: "Here, let me help you. There. You know, it's very you. It'll go great with that Volks vest you have."

 

 

Agatha: "You mean the pinstripe one? I suppose it will. This is quite nice."

 

 

Agatha: "Ah, a card. Now I can discover who my thoughtful benefactor was!"

 

 

Looks like it was Katnaper and her crew! You have fans, Agatha.

 

 

Agatha: "Kaylus cosplaying Gil. . . " (zones out for a moment)

 

 

Agatha: "They sent confections, too! They were really quite generous."

 

 

Nanoha: "I just hope we can keep Pancake away from all this sugar."

 

 

Your turn Nanoha! I *think* this one is yours, but neither of these two have your name on it so I'm just guessing.

 

 

 

Nanoha: "Good guess, Poof!"

 

 

Nanoha: "This is a really soothing abstract painting."

Technically it's a non-objective painting, since there's no discernible object in it.

Nanoha: "Shh, please don't go into critique mode now."

 

 

"Oh, there's something written on the back."

 

 

"Naomi and Tamayuki! They're both so sweet. I should find out if Tama has any magical aptitude; with his enthusiasm he could probably learn to do great things with it."

 

 

Nanoha: "There's a little card, too!"

 

 

Agatha: "Great, that emphasis on 'Wicked' means Poof's probably going to be cranking that Broadway musical soundtrack for days now."

 

 

Nanoha: "Oh, look, a board game! We can play this while Poof is at work."

Agatha: "Hey, isn't that the game Yoko and Mamimi were playing in that story where Mou and Manami . . . um. . . "

Nanoha: "You don't have to finish that sentence."

Agatha: "Thank you. I seem to be having a euphemism malfunction."

 

 

Agatha: "Looks like they included my kind of candy in this package!"

 

 

 

Nanoha: "Oh my goodness, they sent cake!"

 

 

Nanoha: "They. . . they know my weakness for cake. Oh god I shouldn't have let Poof post that about me in that tag game on the forum."

 

 

Nanoha: "And look, a journal! With the most sensible of the Disney princesses, too. This will be great for keeping track of my magical research!"

 

 

Agatha: " 'Research'. You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Nanoha: ". . . do you even know what that quote is from?"

Agatha: "Poof, right?"

(awkward silence)

 

 

One more! I guess this one is for all of us really.

 

 

Nanoha: "Tricked or treated?"

Agatha: "Some kind of puzzle?"

 

 

 

Nanoha: "The Great Pumpkin? That's who brought Mamimi her new little sisters!"

Agatha: "Oh gawd, I hope he doesn't do that to us. That's a trick I'd really rather not deal with."

(They open the inner envelope)

 

 

 

Agatha: "It's a custom sticker!"

Pretty nicely done custom sticker, too.

 

 

Nanoha: "They sent some cute normal stickers too!"

 

 

Agatha: "Thank you very much for your generosity, all of you!"

Nanoha: "We'll do our best to keep Pancake out of the sweets, and will enjoy all your gifts!"

You guys are welcome! Glad Agatha liked her treats. The hair clip can double as a fascinator of sorts too. And, I'm hoping that 'zoning out' on mention of Kaylus cosplaying Gil was a positive thing? He really was excited when we found that Agatha was one of the ones we were sending treats to.

Agatha looks so nice in that outfit! Manami totally agrees that she needs to wear stuff like that more often. And the hair clip she got definitely goes well with her style.

 

Nanoha is so sweet in her fairy costume! And her outlook on things is just such a great difference to Agathas, I love thier dynamic.

 

The gifts:

 

Such cool stuff! All the sweets, the nice cards and that Connect Four game! Stickers also seem to be pretty popular with DD girls don't they?

There were so many great quips from the girls! I was grinning ear to ear while reading their quotes and such. And the little bits about some of my stories were too well placed. That was really great to see that your girls actually keep up with them.

Thank you! I was worried an "opening boxes" story would be boring, but looks like I may have been wrong.

 

You actually praise the two parts of photostories I really enjoy doing--the posing and writing the dialogue. I hate hate HATE fishing through the photos to find the ones that are actually good enough to post. ^^;

Haha! I'm pretty happy with how that corset turned out, but I can only talk Agatha into wearing it at Halloween due to the seasonal increase in people wearing skimpy costumes. XD

I'm so glad I could make you smile! And I surprised myself with how Nanoha's and Agatha's dynamic turned out here. I didn't expect them to banter quite so much! But then again, after all my years of NaNoWriMo, you'd think I'd know better than to think any character of mine is going to do what I expect them to.
