aquilla429 Posted December 12, 2012 My finances are in a bad place this month, but I'm hoping to sort them out before she is released in the after event. I wonder though, if I did enter and win her, but could not afford to actually pay for her, what happens? Will Volks do anything? aquilla429 Posted December 12, 2012 They'll cancel your account if no payment at all is made. Thanks, that's good to know. I don't want that to happen, so at least now I can now formulate a backup plan. Will be sweet talking mum and Danny, their credit cards have a much better rate then mine does! Innocentsake Posted December 12, 2012 Ah Melty looks so great without her default I love getting all these close-ups of her face. She has such a sweet expession~! Can't wait to put in my entry with Volks for her. I asked Bailey while I was at the store on Sunday about having entered with KL & WLD as well for Melty. She said so long as you provide them the same exact information that was given to the other retailers that there will be no mishaps of winning the doll you want more than once. I had already asked others, but I needed to ask an employee of Volks as well and now I feel at ease about all my entries The 16th is almost here!!!

DJStarstryker Posted December 14, 2012 Have a good time Wish you best luck Send us some reports and photos. ps: 2 hours per way is not close... I double checked and the train ride is actually only 90 minutes (never been over by Tokyo Big Sight yet). Considering gotta be there before 9am, means I'm getting up earlier than I actually get up for normal work days. Oh well. Will probably be fun. I'm used to 90+ minute train rides though. When you live on the west side of Tokyo and want to go on the east side (like over to Akihabara and such), that's what you have to do. Tokyo is huge! when could i enter the volks international lottery for melty? :3 Mid-January. Are you ready to rock? ^_^

Yeah, it's always interesting how perspective changes in our lives. For some, 2 hours is huge, for others it's just the daily commute. I've personally travelled 4 hours just to have lunch with a friend. If you can make that time productive, it doesn't really seem that far. On topic: I hope you have a lot of fun, take photos! (if it's allowed) Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty!

SakuraSylph Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) News from the floor of the Dolpa. Limited items were, er, extra limited this time around it seems. Here's the order they sold out in: 1. SD Morisawa Yuu 2. Aoko's School Uniform 3. DDS Melty 4. DD Aoko Aozaki 5 ~ ?? I left the Limited Items Waiting Area once they announced that all the DD items were sold out, so I'm not sure what order Creamy Mami and the little SDs sold out in. Lottery numbers 1-3000+ were issued; this time the last DD thing (Aoko) ran out as only #401-500 were shopping (and #501-600 were getting into sorted order). This is way earlier than reports I've heard from previous Dolpas, so they must not have had very much. I was expecting to bring home two dolls when I drew #671, but nope, I got nuthin' here and have to wait for the After Event. People who had a "gold pass" got to skip the line and go before even #1 could go. There were maybe 6 people with such a pass. I must find out what this is. The dealer hall was OK. It was interesting to look at their display dolls, but that was the best part of the experience for me. Cherry Milk / Ginger Tea brought some cute regular Hatsune Miku and Snow Miku clothes, 15 of each. We sent DJ to get in the general admission line for these since she drew a limited items number in the 1700s. Well, apparently everyone else in the dealer line had the same idea, since a bunch of people made a beeline directly for the Ginger Tea table (and only this table) as the doors opened (hey! that's OUR plan!), creating a line at least 45 people long. Needless to say, we did not get any Miku by the time it was DJ's turn. Out of the 150 or so dealers, only Ginger Tea and Ronronshuka ever had any actual lines. Le sigh. Beyond GT's Miku and someone else who had neat Rozen Maiden outfits, I didn't see any other cosplay outfits or accessories, much to my surprise. I expected at least half the tables to have maybe one anime or game character or accessory along with whatever else they brought, but 'twasn't the case. The majority of the clothes for sale were "regular" victorian-doll fancy clothes that were nice but that you could get anywhere (SD-style), no need to go to a dolpa. The clothes that stood out from the rest as especially nifty also stood out with 35-40K yen price tags (for outfit only), which I thought was asking too much no matter how much I liked them. Sadly. Occasionally it was hard to tell what was for sale, too -- I tried to buy a black cloak that was displayed on one dealer's doll, but it turned out he was only selling the necklace that the doll was wearing, none of her clothes. Man, after missing out on Miku, I couldn't even get the neat cloak. Anyway, for me the dealer section was a huge disappointment because I didn't get to buy a single thing there either. The Dolls Party had various events going on throughout the day, from a "winter" beauty contest for dolls, to charity auctions, to SD one-off auctions, and a Y500 lottery wheel to name a few. The only event that interested me enough to really participate personally was the Dolpa Bingo Game (with prizes, of course). We finished doing the shopping stuff a lot earlier than expected, so the game wouln't occur until 5 hours later and we didn't have the motivation left to wait for it. We left Dolpa a little before lunchtime. For me, and what I wanted to get out of it, I can say that Dolpa 28 was a lot of effort and probably the least worthwhile event I've been to (doll-related or not). I should have stayed home and waited for the after-event to attempt getting any of the limited items, and should have just gotten my Ginger Tea stuff from YJA. It'll be marked up on YJA, but admission to dolpa isn't cheap and not-going could've paid for the markup. That's what I'll do in the future. This was the first and, unless something changes, last Dolpa I will attend in person. Regular release events are fun and I'll definitely keep going to those, though. Man. I deliberately didn't do commissions for this event in anticipation of it being hard to get stuff, but it was worse than feared. The after-event is in January and I expect it to be much more reasonable! I'm looking forward to that! Edited December 16, 2012 by Guest SakuraSylph

Innocentsake Posted December 16, 2012 I continue to fall more & more in love with Melty's face, she's just so beautiful Once 11 am hits I'll be putting in my entry for Melty with Volks USA for a total of 3 chances. Hopefully luck will be with me and so many others who truly want to own her. I'm not surprised that she sold out so quickly at the Dolpa, but it's sad to know that so so many of those Meltys are just being put up on YJA by scalpers who want to make some big quick bucks... I'll be hoping, but won't be surprised if I don't win her. I'll be more surprised if I actually win her lol! At least if these 3 chances fail me I'll have one more shot with the After Event on Volks International next month~
