OMG I am loving everything about Melty! Now to start being nice to my husband so he will let me enter...

I personally don't feel much for Aoko, I think she looks a bit too much like a few existing DDs. Melty on the other hand is VERY cute and she even comes with the new one piece body that Haruka & Miki has.

I've never played Etna's game so I have no attatchment to her character. she looks cute, but kinda small though. I bet Volks would have put her on an mdd body so I wouldn't be at all interested.

 

I love Melty AND Sorbe so personally I'm soooo glad it was her!

 

She's actually reasonably tall for the game, so she'd have fit a DDS well. But she is from a 2003 game, so that might be why you've not seen her.

 

Part of the reason I feel old with this dolpa is that before the announcement I'd not heard of Melty at all. And when I first saw her I felt she looked like Etna in a weird way. But I'm glad there are people who like her.

 

She's from a 2003 game, but has also been in nearly ever NIS game made since then. The PSP remake of Disgaea actually contains a special "Etna Mode". She's also the reason for the insane antics of 'Prinny: Can I Really Be A Hero?', where she sends the Prinnies to find her stolen "Ultra Desert", and 'Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties Dood!', where she again sends the Prinnies off on an impossible quest to retrieve some panties that were stolen from her.

 

Out of all of NIS game characters, Etna is one of their most popular, with only their mascot Pleinair having been in more games than Etna.

 

As for DD type, if they made Etna, she'd definitely be a DDS S bust, or maybe a new DDS "no bust" due to all the flat chest jokes she endures in all the games.

 

Had it been Etna instead of Melty, I'd be jumping on it.

Third vote for DDS Washboard Etna with Prinny plush and various weapons here.

Melty you melted my heart some, but I really think Aoko has completely stolen it.

 

Also I'm really glad I don't see any must haves in the outfit selection. If I get any at all it would be the kitty leather outfits since I missed out on the bunny ones.

 

I see they finally made the kuma outfit that won in the outfit design contest. It turned out super cute, but it isn't my girls style. So yay safe from that and more money to go towards getting Aoko. =3

Well, I'm in the minority as Melty does nothing for me at all. Aoko looks really nice tho, I think she'll be super popular. But I won't be going for any girls this time around. What I *will* be going for tho is that bear outfit! That thing is just soooooo adorable! It's got Elisabeth written all over it.

Me and my girlfriend are thinking of getting Melty cause she looks super cute but our priority will be in getting Kos-mos.

 

Aoko looks quite nice but the outfit is a little plain in comparison to Melty. It's not a big flaw to me but I'm really just trying hard to come up with reasons that I shouldn't get her O~O

 

Anyway time to start saving like never before ^^;

Oh nooo, I love Melty and Aoko. ;~; I've wanted a Melty DD for so long, I absolutely adore her. Elf girls are one of my main weaknesses! Plus frilly outfits, purple hair, and cute animals. She's got it all! Aoko reminds me of Rin, one of my unicorns, so of course I want her too. Now I have to prioritize between these girls and KOS-MOS/Momo. I kind of hope I end up disliking Momo: I don't like the sculptor's other works, so it would be nice to cross a want off my too-long list.

Ha ha ha! That is too funny! I don't think funds will allow me to buy two of those so I doubt that will happen. But maybe we can do a kitty girl Sprout along with Elisabeth instead.

The "no bust" option would definitely get my vote! Closest thing to a male DD so far. Still wish they had a S bust option for the DDdy. Just because a girl has big hips doesn't mean she has the chest to match!

 

Melty is definitely getting my vote, but if we had her Naiomi would take her hat before Melty even knew it was gone. Her face is really cute and I'm interested in the ears and I love her hair color. Not a fan of the 1 piece bodies though and I can't think of a situation where I wouldn't replace it with a normal 2 piece one.

I actually don't understand why Melty has one. It made sense for the Idolm@ster girls, because their outfits would've shown the line between the bust and torso pieces. Melty's outfit has that area covered though.

 

SakuraSylph suggested last night to me that maybe that's where Volks is going in the longer term. See, the DDS bodies were sort of the prototype of the DDIII, back when Reimu and Marisa came out. They refined that, and then released the DDIII. Maybe Volks intends to make the 1-piece torso standard?

 

I kind of hope not. I don't have my dolls dress in outfits that would show that area anyway, so I'd rather have more posability.

I wouldn't mind the 1 piece body being made into a standard for those who want them, but if it replaced the 2 piece bodies it would be rather detrimental to my DD collecting. If I wanted less poseability for a doll, I would have saved a bundle and stuck with American Girls (who I still love) but can't hardly pose. Raven and I both agree that strangely to us the 2 piece torso look better than the single piece ones.

Dear dear... I really told myself that my next girl was going to be an MDD for sure (either custom or Natsuki's little sister if she turned out to be an MDD), but seeing Melty has changed my mind

 

For awhile I've been telling my husband how I wished Volks would make a head sculpt with elf like ears and now they've gone and done it! I'd love to bring this girl home with me Her outfit is really cute along with her familiar, Sorbe. Not sure I would keep her in her default eyes & wig, but that decision will be made if & when I actually see her in person Not to mention she is just so pretty~!

 

Kind of wish she didn't come with the new one piece torso since I like pose-ability more than no seam lines, but I could always buy those parts later. So it looks like I'll be trying my luck again with the DD lottery and see how it goes Try not to get my hopes up too high like last time XD;;;

 

Oh and I'll also be going for Aoko's School Uniform because it has that lovely Type-Moon style and I know it would look great on my lovely Saber hehe~

The two piece torso's don't pose that much and from what I heard there's a joint in the one piece torso so she can be posed a lot, but it looked kinda silly if posed too much.

Actually, you can't really tell in volks pictures so far, but Melty's dress would actually expose the split torso if they had used it. Melty's dress has a split bodice at the front which is joined up by corset style lacing. It exposes a clear line of skin from her chest, right down to her belly button which is probably why volks went for the seamless body for her.

 

 

I think given her default attire, the seamless body is a nice touch, it woulnt look as nice if there was that big seam in the middle of such a delicate dress. The seamless torso I think is nice, it good to have various parts for different things.

 

Posing is nice sure, but there are plenty of Images where dollfie dreams are posed completely unrealistically and it just looks daft, totally ruins the image. Just because a doll CAN bend that way, doesn't mean that it should or that it looks good. I think there are great reasons for being poseable, but there are also great perks to having something seamless, natural and elegant looking too.
