so i wanted to post this off topic since i wasnt sure were to put it im a noob lol

i got my first girl today shes a dollfie dream moe and ive never delt with dollfie dreams before only my resin boys so i went to do some research and man! its so freaking hard to get her wig cap off Dx i did the whole "heat it with a hairdryer on low setting" even then it was super hard! but anyway that not what i was going to ask...

i want to know what your methods are on prying the hot glue from your dollfie dreams headcap? (cuz it took ages for me to pull it all out but one eye was in the other had fallen out from shipping so when i tried to pry it out i had to heat it a bit first because there was no eye to push out! )

Also what sort of tools you use (your own tools not a company website listing it)

p.s. sorry for the long dribble of a post lolz

The second video is mine - I take the eyes and glue out in under 10 minutes.

It sounds like your Moe is the old (hard) vinyl. If you get yourself either the carving knife from Volks or the nail cuticle pushing tool I show in the video you can get the glue out very easily.

I do what these tutorials say. I agree with Archangeli about glue on the older heads. A cuticle tool is helpful.

Archangeli has a video. If a picture is worth a thousand words and we assume a conservative estimate of 25 frames per second, her 8 minute 50 second video is worth 13.25 million words. I figure showing is easier than saying. (I am joking and just in general like doing calculations even if they are meaningless.)

To get the DD headcap off, it helps to squeeze her temples and use the back end of a butter knife.

For removing the eyes, a hairdryer, Mineshima carving knife, Tamiya thinner, and a little patience and care will do the trick. There's nothing special about those tool brands that I know of; it's just what Volks happens to sell and they're convenient sizes for hobby use. I do especially like the thinner for cleaning up the sticky residue left inside the head after getting the main pieces of glue out.

If you need any help getting non-flammable items from Volks USA or Volks International, there are sometimes group orders here on the forum. You can get something from a group order and then it can be shipped to you at a more reasonable price. I have heard shipping even to Hawaii from Volks USA is really high. (I am assuming shipping costs are prohibitive from Volks International too.)

As for cutting the vinyl head cap, a lot of people notch the inner portion of the head cap vinyl to make it easier to remove the head cap later.

For example, this head from Yahoo! Japan auctions has a modified/notched head cap.

Some people make only one notch in the back. Others make two notches. This Japanese seller made four.
