baldylox Posted November 13, 2012 I kind of see Billy's DDs calling him "Papa" in a kind of ojisan-ish way. It defines his father-like protector/provider role and slightly pokes at him as being older and maybe unable to understand the nuances of being a young girl. That is why he sometimes has to convince them to do things like wear a frilly cute outfit (and also why they give in and wear it) as well as why he "gets in trouble" with them. If he wasn't expected to take care of them, Manami wouldn't get upset that he doesn't have enough cookies in the cupboard. Instead, she might complain about cookie price inflation each time she returns from the grocery store. Hee hee.... I really got a kick out reading this. I can actually see the things you describe happening! I know thing slike this have gone thru my head before so it's funny you mention them. I feel you've hit the nail on the head here for sure. I think Billy is far from the "creepy fraction". I can really almost see his "girls" laughing at him and making funny comments. And be like "Older, fetch us cookies. Pronto!" And then he goes for the cookies, with a deep sigh, because he cares for them. Thank you sir. I appreciate that. I think. And you're right about my girls and how they ask me ( tell me ) to do things for them all the time. But over all they mean no harm, they're just used to me spoiling them ROTTEN. Hahahaha! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
SisterKyoya Posted November 13, 2012 A lot of days I've wanted to shout and holler how much I love these forums. It's such a fun place to be, reading everybody's stories about their families, talking about all the exciting things being released, having somewhere to complain a tiny bit when Volks does things that don't make any sense, and knowing I don't have to worry about seeing weird stuff. Getting to meet so many similarly minded people from all over the world is just all kinds of awesome. I feel safe here. To some that might not really seem like a big deal or a slightly odd comment, but it means the world to me. I can understand about the guy with all the dolls in Ara's post and I was amazed that he would have so much courage! I know I never could. In my everyday life I cannot talk to people I don't know and if for some reason I have to it causes a major stress overload and instant panic attacks. Simply having to carry on in a conversation unexpectedly makes me want to scream and run away, finding some tiny dark corner to hide in where no one can see me until I can feel normal again. No big surprise that I've never had normal friendships either. I even find it hard to spend much time with my family because of the severe emotional drain. Raven is the only person I can interact with everyday without any of those negative things triggering. It horrifies me to think of what kind of mother I'd be if I had genetic kids, it would be a living nightmare for everyone. As far back as I can remember (easily before I started Kindergarten) I've always regarded my stuffed animals as friends. They were always there to talk to when I had something to say, they were there for me to snuggle with as I cried, and they made me feel better and cared for when the rest of the world seemed like they hated me with a passion. Isn't that what friends are supposed to do? I really don't care if anyone finds this to be "healthy" from an external point of view, because for me it is. I'm married (13+ years), straight A honors college student, with real plans on to do something meaningful with my life. Without my DD kids quietly encouraging me to do my best I wouldn't be doing as well as I am. Every time I want to give up all I have to do is think about what Tamayuki would say to me and I somehow find the strength to keep moving forward. Even Naiomi wanting to always "help out" by making lots of costumes (even though I actually do the work), it makes it much less stressful because it at least feels like I have help and encouragement. Even Dolly (though he's not a DD) helps when I have times when I want to either blow up the world, or I get tired of my obsessive-compulsive nature trying to control every last detail of my life and rebel against it. He lets me say whatever I want and sometimes tells me that it's ok to make messes. Three drops of pancake batter on the counter top is not the end of the world. Sure it can't be left there, but at least with his careless nature giving me a dose of reality, the mess doesn't freeze my brain and I can get it cleaned up. Our forums are incomparable to any other if you ask me. Not only can I share stuff that's going on with our family, but it's so fun reading about all the other families too! There are so many things going on all the time here that it's a fascinating and interesting place to be. Never before in my life have I been able to share my "real" (doll filled) life with anyone and felt accepted. My own family finds me very weird and I feel like I have to sensor my personality when I'm around them to avoid the negative face-to-face backlash. I completely understand Tamayuki wanting to send everyone a card for the holiday card exchange because in my small way I want to show everyone here that they are important and appreciated. I love it here because this is where my people and DD friends are. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
