single torso repair?

Recommended Posts

shinegamix

Hi. after several nights of thinking i am really considering in getting melty. only thing is with the type 3 bodies they break more easily. it recently happend to my haruka. so i was wondering if there are any miki/amami haruka owners out there willing to tell me what the possibilities are if you want to replace the shoulder/neckbits on a one piece torso

That is awful that your Haruka has problems! I have Miki but I have no idea how to take the body apart to repair it. I am afraid to try in case that causes a break.

i see so it really is seamless and if you ever break anything inside which i hope never happens then you are more or less stuck without a solution. maybe volks is going to release a torso replacement part. like what they did with the hip

I think a replacement whole torso would be expensive too! I don't understand why they did that if they know that the newer bodies are prone to needing repair.

So, I take it that these bodies are also stuck with whatever bust they came with, too. I hadn't ever considered that downside. Grr... I'm liking these seamless bodies less and less all the time the more I read about them. I suppose, if you were truly desperate to repair her you could do a little surgery, cutting it open then gluing it back together, though it would leave a permanent scar.

I wish I had looked more closely at Miki before I got her dressed because I wonder about this same thing. I really have no idea how they got anything into the torso and I can't figure out anything more from the rather bad pictures I took of all things she shipped with laid out around her.

Hopefully Volks have built this new body so the previous problematic areas won't break as easily...

Thank you, Jezrah! I agree that I bet the part comes out through the leg opening.

Heh... So there is a way to get the frame out. Good find, Jezrah. ^^

Wow, I thought when they were talking one-piece torso it was to be like the DDdy where the abdomen is one piece and attaches under the bust. I had no idea that the WHOLE torso was one piece. Holy chiz!

You know, the internal frame has to be put inside the torso. It was done in the factory, so it's obvious, that it can be pulled out as well.

The usual hair dryer method may be used to soften the vinyl and make the process easier.

I really ought to post my review of Miki and the single piece torso up.. I took it apart right away to check it out and you can definitely pull the frame out through the leg hole.

It'd be a bit trickier to fix in terms of getting the armature out and then back in again but it's do-able. ^_^

As another person determined to get Melty, but never had any experience with the one piece body I can honestly say I would LOVE you to do that review!

I will try to find some time over the next couple days to edit the video review together and post it up in the "new arrivals" section.

Moved this to the question and answer section since it's more of a technical question
