Recommended Posts

Soooo where can I get boxes large enough to ship a DD and what's the price range of shipping one with tracking?

Are you shipping a full set or not? If it doesn't come with the original Volks box I've found that shipping them in a sitting position helps a lot when finding a box large enough.

My Mashiro was shipped in a large box where the Volks box fit diagonally and then lots of padding on the sides.

As to how much it costs... really depends on where you live. Usually it seems that shipping from the US to say... Europe costs $40-$60 depending on method used etc.

Price matters on from where and via what service. I've paid from $15 via priority mail from California, USA to $80 via EMS from Germany, and yes both forms had tracking. So, as I stated, it varies.

As for boxes...I admittedly just keep around the ones I've gotten from other dolls so I'm of no help here. I would assume if you have any mail depots, or a UPS store around that you could purchase one through them.

The correct one should be Newbie questions

To ship DDs I usually use self made boxes, I take big boxe and I cut and glue and tape them

If it's only a body, it may be easier to ship it in parts. I recall Baldylox once telling me he received a body from mitsuki that had fit into a small pre-paid USPS shipping box!

I sent a DD3 body from Canada to Australia recently in a box about the size of big box of chocolates The more compact you can pack the doll, the less shipping will be, as long as both parties are ok with the DD being packed in pieces.

I always get confused and think newbie questions is only for new people, maybe it should be changed to general questions, I'm sorry..

Anyways yeah I have the original box, but obviously I don't want to ruin it for the person buying. So the best approach is to just wrap it up and tape together cardboard around it?

"Ruin"... if you have it I guess it's the best thing to use that one XD in case you buy more DDs you'll get another one heheh

i just get a box larger then the original box and pack up the empty spaces with airpockets and fluffy stuff. we pay by weight here so no real increase in shipping price

making my triumphant return

Pay by weight only must be nice... for large packages, I get hit with a "balloon rate", a dimensional weight that is much higher than actual weight.
