MDD Ankle fix!

Okay so I've had these pictures hoarded away for a while. And after instructing Billy on what to do I'm going to post up what I have. It's a very straight-forward fix but is tricky because the vinyl has to be taken off the MDD foot!

 

This fix is for the first generation MDD body, the MDDIII doesn't need this fix as far as I've experienced.

 

Things you will need:

Hairdryer to warm the vinyl to get it off the foot

(I'm checking with Sam to get the screw he used)

(I'm also checking on the drill bit he used)

 

Step 1:

Get that foot off and disassemble the joint.

 

It'll look like this:

 

A lot of the time, the peg part (pointed at below) will break off, this isn't a problem, the fix can be done and will work just as well either way.

 

The old screw is very short (it's the top screw in this photo) it needs to be replaced with something longer! (the bottom screw is the one we used~)

 

Step 2:

Drilling!

Now to fit this new longer screw, the half of the ankle joint that isn't fully drilled through needs to be drilled out to accommodate the modification!

Step 3:

Put it back together and you're done!

Simply put the ankle joint back together (including the tiny broken shaft too) and put the vinyl back on the foot and you're done.

 

It really is that simple, the hardest part is getting the vinyl foot off the MDD frame. ^_^

 

I'm sure Billy will get up some more photos to show his attempt with the fix. It really will help - we've done the fix for Archangeli, Di-Chan, and Nekopon - if you're scared to do this yourself you can always PM me and we can arrange for your MDD footies to be send to us for surgery.

Wow the screw Sam used is almost double the length of the Volks one

 

But little M can stand now and doesn't have gimpy ankles anymore!!

Sam says volks has a terrible habit of using screws that are "just long enough" which means they loosen over time and leave bodies floppy and awful.

 

Sam and I have a couple more mods in the works that I know your girls are going to want. ^_^
