Well, I suppose that's one way to do it. I'd want to keep this thread open for people to add to and read since there's good info here we don't want to lose. Maybe you can copy the info over and maintain it in a single post while this stays open for people to add info to and you periodically update the other? I'm not sure how best to do it since we don't need two threads active on the same thing.

Alrighty then, that's what I'll do! I'll edit my first post on the first page to show this list as it is now. When people add more here within the thread then I will just add to the list on the first page to keep it fresh.

i've never actually had much in the way of staining issues... but then again, i stick predominantly by my own hand made fashions, usually of lighter tones, and often made from vintage-ish fabrics gleaned from the thrifts...

Also adding the volks black singlet top is lined, but stains around the edges!!!

I don't know if this was mentioned earlier but,

 

Rin Shibuya V2 : Black Sweater

 

I put it on her for my unboxing video, It was on for maybe a total of 20 mins? and when I removed it I noticed black rings on her hands where the only part of the sweater was actually touching her skin.

I was wondering if the Mage (azerin) outfit is known to stain?

I guess this is related to the last post, but does anyone know if the garters / harness and gloves in the Samurai (Yaiba) set stain? I've been considering it (and I have no use for the wig, which is why I'm not worried about THAT staining or not) but I'm curious to know before I plunk my cash down.

I can't speak to that outfit in particular, but in general I assume that all Volks blacks, dark blues, and reds will stain. It's not always true, but it happens so often it's not even worth risking anymore.

 

In the case of the garters you could line them with tape. You need to put the sticky side on the garter not the doll, and over time stuff can still stain through the tape.

 

One other option if you get the set is to put a spare hand inside the gloves for a few weeks and see if it stains. Keeping a spare hand around for that kind of thing can pay off.

I've had the garters and harness on my Melty since Anime Expo (July) and I haven't noticed any staining. I can't speak for the gloves since I didn't use them yet.

 

But keep in mind that everyone's environment is different, so some people might have staining when others don't!

The stockings on the Dark Night Bat set stain badly and quickly. They were on my Len for just a couple hours, and now he's got a lot of staining to take care of D:

Does anyone know if this set stains? I was thinking about getting it but the black is turning me off a little.

The pants in the Volks Navy Blue School Training Set stained my Len's knees a little bit. It's generally not an issue for short term wearing though.

On Ranko's default outfit as far as I can tell it's the threads in her top that stain. The black lacy parts don't seem to stain. I haven't tested the socks yet. Have a hand inside them now to see.

The black tank top for Volks News 76 stains bad, at least the trim does. Poor Yaya, seems anything black I put on her stains her. And that's a problem as she looks good in black.

So a bit of a follow up after I found some really light stains on her shoulders near the arm socket. The black lace parts stain, but the really heavy stains come from the frayed edges of the material where all the stitching is. Any inner spot where you see those edges poking through should be taped.

I didn't dig thru the 30 some odd pages before to see if anyone listed this or not but the Volks Rin Tousaka red bikini set stains. I washed it a few times and you could see extra dye coming out in the water so it can be fixed.

The unlined portion of the skirt in the Grey Sweater Set stains. It's especially bad if your girl is sitting down... poor Nozomi's gonna have to go to the spa to get her tush checked out!

The Polka Dot Dress & Knit Cardigan set stains. The culprit is as you'd expect, the black parts of the dress. They stain and stain fast. Basically, it stains on contact. Be careful.
