Silica Project (Sword Art Online) - Clothes WIP! -

Yo, this is my first post here actually, but i thought a good start could be to post up my custom project, which is Silica from SAO (sword art online). this will be my first dollfie actually, i only have a few azones.

i have decided on head and eyes so far. it's DD option head 04 and eye type-F. i will paint eyebrows etc myself as i have enough knowledge in such things (long time hobbyist).

 

i'm still searching for a wig, i have found a few in the right colour but i cant seem to find the right twintail type. i might have to tie twintails up myself. help are appreciated if someone know where to buy a good wig for her

 

i'm trying to decide on body, so a little input is needed, but i have checked MDD and DDS for her. the character is 13, and i think a MDD is too short for her considering her size compared to Kirito (see second reference pic). that's why i'm leaning towards DDS with S bust. any opinions?.

 

Clothes will be handmade by me, with the addition of a few official clothing parts (moddified of course). Armour will be sculpted by me too.

If you are feeling adventurous, you could opt for a Obitsu 50, which would need an adapter for the DD head. But size wise that would go in between a MDD and DD better than the DDS as far as I know.

the obitsu 50 is the same 50cm body as on Azone 1/3 Haruhi and Saber? i have those two dolls so i can easily look at them, compare and think about it. i'm going to buy the head for Silica before the body and fix it up, so i can easily test it out a bit. but while i am able to pull of a head attachment on an obitsu its at the same time nice to not need to. choices choices!

Should be, the identifying thing on the 50's would be the double hinged elbows. Also Parabox has a variant called the 48, which is a little shorter at the legs

i'll check both out. any option is good. although i had hoped one of the dollfie bodies could work because since it's my first i'd like a pure dollfie. it's not important to be in-scale with the azones. Silica is slightly shorter than Asuna and Lisbeth, so lets say Asuna is a DD, then silica could be a DDS. what are the size difference between DDS and obitsu 50cm anyway? anywhere i can see a size comparison of DD bodies and obitsu's?

are the SQLAB heads pre-face-up?. i was otherwise considering getting a unpainted head and paint myself (i have the skill, but all stuff needed seem out of stock at volks). the perfect thing with this head on ebay is that its the exact variant i need (DDH-04) and the eye paint are very spot-on with Silica's eyes. i have the money so i think i will give it a go with a bid.

they are blank heads i believe yes. I hope you be getting two soon. just fighting about spending my savings on them XD. I'm looking to do some photo editing for the heads I want but dont have Photo shop XD so cant make it look nice.

the first example looks pretty accurate!. it looks most anime like indeed. while the H-type from volks looks more like alot of illustrations ive seen on the character. now i got to decide ><. only problem with the SQ eyes are that its 22mm while the recomended size for the 04 head is 24mm. maybe it does not matter that much?

well I haven't needed to change my DD heads eyes so I don't know what it would look like. but I am shore there's someone on here that can ether show you what 22mm eyes look like in the 04 head but on the other hand I believe it only makes her have more white showing.

yeh, that's the thing. i want her to have less white showing. simply put she should have as big eyes as possible to look young and cute. it's partly why i chose the head too, it have the right eye size and shape (the holes), plus the smiled id fit her too.

Yay, found some beads to use for her hair beads/pearls that hold her twintails, a wig i'm going to try out and best of all, shoes that match silica's perfectly, io nly have to add the gold trim to them

hope it all fits, shoes are for 1/3 size but i havn't decided on body yet. the beads should be ok size, i hope it is. and the wig are perfect colour, i think i can style it right

got the shoes and beads for her hair

 

these shoes had a perfect shape match to silica, all i need to do is add the gold trim and remove the belt strap on it, and replace with a gold strap

EDIT: the wig arrived

 

It's a miku-style wig in light brown, perfect Silica colour

 

the miku twintails are too big to fit with the beads, but the main wig's hair was perfect lenght to tie twintails up using the red ribbons, and then put on the beads. the bottom pic shows a demonstration (not end result). i will make the final styling once i have the head etc!

 

i'm excited to start the head now!, i hope the head and eyes arrives soon

Everything looks perfect together *__* Can't wait to see, the wig on her head the beads are a little bit too small (just my taste xD) but nevertheless nice progress on your Silica! *__*
