Modded DDH03 Face Up

Recommended Posts

Till Troll

Edit: Brain blip! DDH03 (open eyes version), not DDH02 >.<

Bought this head a few months ago, and after a long modding period (damn you screwy english weather), finally got her skin tone painted and face up done. And got the nice camera working again! (I'll update the pics in my Chandra thread soon).

I changed the eye shape, the nose, and toned down the upper lip. I did the face up in water colour pencils, and I quite like the non anime eyes in her. Her body is a shortened Obitsu 60cm, with a modded internals and the 50cm large bust. Does she still count as on topic?

I really like green eyes and grey hair.

Actually she had was an eyehole head (and a DDH03, doh! brain blip). I used Milliput superfine to remold her eyelids. I actually broke one by dropping her @.@ but was able to fix it And thanks! Thanks to this face up she's become my current favourite (sorry Chandra...)

Ah, that's really cool! I like what you did with the mouth too, makes this head a lot less overbite-y.

I'm waiting on another 03 right now so I can make a dreamy version of my Leo. Did you have to paint the entire head to get the mod to blend in?

Thanks! I think I over reduced the top lip, but I don't mind that it's so thin, as I too have a very thin upper lip, and it looks okay

For the head paint, I did repaint the entire head. I was going to spray paint it, but had problems with weather. So instead I mixed up a flexible craft acrylic to the closest shade I could, and painted multiple very thin layers, gentle rebrushing each layer as it dried to smooth it, polishing inbetween layers using a towel. This smoothed out the paint. There is a little texture left (you can see it in the close up) but not enough to detract from the head, and definitely smooth enough to get good face up lines on

The disadvantages are that repainting her this way is very time consuming and will never be totally smooth (although I did Meade's head much smoother 2 years ago). The advantages are that it's easier to slightly adjust and test the colour of the paint as you go, its /very/ relaxing, doesn't set off my asthma, doesn't require hot, non humid weather, and although it is time consuming, it can be done while sitting on the couch watching Farscape DVDs with minimal set up

You're eye mod is very impressive, I love her sassy expression. I've used milliput a lot whilst garage kitting but never really thought of using it on dollfie dreams but will defiantly think about using it should I want to do some extreme modding.
