DD 01 Mod advice required

I’m working on a DD 01 head at the moment and as part of the project I needed to modify the shape of her eye holes. To get the straight upper eyelid that I wanted, I had to remove some vinyl from the side of the eye holes too. The dd 01 has very defined ridges on the inside of the head at the eye holes and when I trimmed the top and side of the eyes, I cut away most of that ridge as well.

I didn’t really think about it at the time, but last night I went to put eyes in her and straight on she looks great, but if you look at her at an angle, you can either see right inside her head or you can see the eye putty. I’ve included a picture below, the area within the pink highlights is the area in question, the stuff in the middle is they eye putty, without eye putty, you can see straight through to her head cap.

I really don’t want to give up on her and buy a new head, I really want to make her work because we’ve already come so far together, but I don’t know what to do now.

I did think about rebuilding the inner eye ridge with epoxy putty, but then the colour will be different and it won’t look any better than seeing the eye putty. I really can’t think what else I could do.

This is my first mod and my worst case scenario is to consider this a learning experience and start again with a new head. But I reaaaaaally don’t want to give up on her and throw her away!

I am open to any suggestions.

My only suggestion would be to use epoxy putty, and then paint it the same color as the vinyl. Maybe not the easiest thing to do but that's what some of the Japanese modders do.

Can't really think of anything else. >_<;

How does it look from the front?

From the front it looks fine, you can't notice any issue at all when looing at it straight ahead. You can only notice it when you look at an angle or to the sides.

Having a front and a 3/4 picture would really help to better see how the hole is shaped, and without the pink lines. If you have a very specific concept in mind for the head, the putty may be the only thing that would work. Even if the lower eye was sanded, that would only do so much and then she might need bigger eyeballs.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but have you tried trimming inside the eye hole so that the eye sits more forward? Otherwise I'd use waha's suggesting and fill in the gap and paint it, it's not going to be visible from far away anyhow.
