Thanks. They're really easy to make, took all of 30 minutes to do so. If I had more felt and deco stuff, I'd have made more I'm sure your girls would love for you to make them "snacks".

I know for sure they would love snacks, but if I don't soon start doing at least a few of my housework chores instead of spending all of my time outfitting my girls, my house is going to sink under all the dust and my huband and I won't be able to go out in public because of a lack of clean clothes!! My vacbleep cleaner already has cobwebs on it!! On the other hand, I was just thinking that maybe crafting some cookies would be fun...after all, I still have some clean pajamas and I wouldn't have to go outside if I was crafting...

Katnaper those foods are adorable! If you loved closer I'd let you raid my felt stash to make more since the stack might be taller than Tamayuki.

Bouncing_Tigger, I know how you feel about wanting to start projects before doing housework... I've been pretty quiet the last few days on the forums because I've been cleaning and decluttering my computer/DD room so I can finally get to the projects and photos I've wanted to do for the last year and a half. The hardest part for sure is figuring out what craft stuff to give up and what to keep. For me personally I'm still working through the "I might need it someday" mentality. Having DD has made as big of an impact on me as having real kids, without the parts I can't deal with. Every time I start to feel like I have to keep every last crafting scrap, I hear Tamayuki in my head ask "Mommy, do we get to do a project with those?" If my answer is no because I'm just saving it, it's pretty clear that I really don't need it. The cleaning and sorting has been slow going but I keep reminding myself that once I'm done I'll have more time to do DD stuff without the guilt and chaos that makes me horribly unhappy.

Hopefully soon I'll have a chance to show off some of my recent projects once I get them done, but Tama's frog tank is going to be cute.

Thanks. I'm sure our respective dolliehs would be most appreciative if only that were true.

Ooh, now that is so worth seeing. Tama and cute little froggies.

Now that I think about it, I should make tanks for all the snakes and critters you sent Dolly last year. Woohoo! Finally a use for all the seed beads that have been shoved in a drawer for a very long time. I even found some polished rocks I ran across the other day too. I have some of the oddest things stashed away.

I agree that it is a struggle, but I was listening to my web radio (while trying to not think about how much I'd rather be crafting/sewing than cleaning) and a woman talking had what struck me as a great idea! In a nutshell, what she does is take 15 minutes 4 times a day to clean/tidy/organize some area of her home. 15 minutes really isn't very long, but if you are focused on the tasks, you can really accomplish a lot!

If she's organizing, she uses what she called a "4 box (or bag) system to get it done quickly and easily. As she handles each thing, she puts it into one of the boxes. One box is labelled as "put back" and that is stuff she has decided to keep. Next is the "other rooms" box for stuff that isn't where it belongs in the house. Then she has a box as "give away" for stuff she thinks others could use (either for donation to a charity or for someone she specifically thinks of). The final box is labelled as "garbage" and she dumps that box into a garbage bag when the 15 minutes are up! At the 15 minute time limit, you tidily "put back" the keeper stuff, empty out the 'other rooms' stuff in the room where it belongs and stash the 'donations' box in a closet until it is full and ready to be delivered. I tried this in my kitchenette area (a huge 'dumping ground' because it is so handy) and couldn't believe how much progress I actually made in only 15 minutes!! It also leaves you 'guilt free' to go ahead and sew/craft or play with your girls for a while! I'll for sure be using this method now that I have two girls to visit with! (See my next post for what I did in my non-housework time!)

You so totally inspired me that I had to share my little food project that I did in between bouts of housework!

I used fun-foam and packing foam with my hot glue gun to make...

Bouncing_Tigger- Yep, that's pretty much how I learned to clean and organize as a kid (although I can't say I did it much.) I had a book that was made for kids explaining the sorting into boxes that really simplified it, making it easy to understand how to clean and organize any room. Plus I always loved the illustrations on how to make the bed. The book was lost or given away over the years so I tracked it down about five years ago, and I still love it! I actually re-read it after I wrote my cleaning post and now my computer/doll room is nearly clean! I have a few things to pick up off my desk and about 3 nearly empty bookshelves to tidy up before I'd be happy to take pics of the entire room. There isn't much here to show off in an almost empty room, but it had been completely out of control like it had been. Now I'll have the free space to stop and take photos when I need to and freeing up time for more fun projects!

Tama's frog tank is going to be really cute. I've also been trying to decide how to do Fimo watermelon slices. I just think they would be really fun since its still summer. Tama has been exstatic that we will have time to make cookies this Christmas. It was the one thing he really wanted to do after he was done with cards last year that we just didn't get to. Dang it! I knew I should have grabbed the fuzzy poofballs things when Raven and I went to the craft store. All I'd have to do is add them to a felt cone for ice cream cones! I'll have to remember that next time.

You are so right about the girls never getting fat! Me, I gained 5 pounds just looking at them as I made them! I was a bit worried that they didn't look quite as good as I thought they did until my hubby got home and the first thing he said when he saw them on the table was "Oh, cool! Ice cream sandwiches!" *pumps fist Yesssssss I did get them to look like what I was trying for!* I used the pointed end of a kebob skewer to poke the holes in the cookie part and I actually used scrapbooking scissors when I cut the brown foam to get the wavy sides so that made the whole process really fast and easy...and lots of fun!

Isn't it great when things are tidy and organized so that you can spend time doing what you really want to be doing instead of what you have to be doing? I can't wait to see pics of your frog tank! It sounds like its going to be great but you shouldn't have mentioned the ice cream cone idea because now I'm thinking another trip in to the craft store is something I need to work into my schedule this week!

Here's Tama's new frog tank!

I find it funny that the tank is made from the box that Tama's wig came in. I really like it because it can have the clear top as well. Other than that I used pony beads for the gravel, a couple of rocks from the yard, lilac bush twigs, cut the leaves out from a fake plant leaf, wood grain contact paper, and glued a pic from a magazine on to the back with Mod Podge.

I would have made it more complicated but the box is pretty small. Having the picture on the back really adds to how complex it looks, the same reason why people add the scenes to the back of normal fish tanks. Mr. Ribbitz is a Squinkies so he's approximately 3/4" (2cm) square. I might think about doing a southwestern themed tank because I also have a lizard, armadillo, and a howling coyote that are really cute but it will take me a while to get the rest of the 'bits and bobs' together.

I'm about half way finished making a snake tank for some toy snakes Katnaper sent Dolly for Christmas last year. It's pretty cool because I've been saving a clear package that's a cylinder instead of a box, but the sticker on the lid is taking longer to remove than doing the whole rest of the project! Once both of them are finished I'll take some pics with Dolly and Tama so it is easier to see the scale.

That is incredible!!! So simple in some ways, but so realistic looking! I have a couple of wig boxes and kept wondering why I hadn't thrown them out...but now I know why!! I think you are right that the picture on the back of the 'tank' really helps add depth to how it looks...and it looks unbelieveable!! I'm sooooo impressed!!!!! The little 'plant' also adds so much to the overall look! I knew I should have bought that dollfie sized tropical fish I saw in the clearance bin at the Michael's store yesterday...rats! OOOoooo...maybe I can find rats ... or hamsters ... or white mice or, or, or...TURTLES!!! I already have some little turtles... (here I go again...so many ideas, so little time!) Boy I love this thread in the forum! It twigs so many thoughts and ideas!!

Elfy016- Thank you! All of this happened when I was trying to put the beads away and get things organized. I put them in a mostly clear container and realized it looked enough like fish tank gravel and I already had the frog. In the bottom of the snake tank I still have to finish I used seed beads and it looks great for that scale.

Bouncing_Tigger- Thank you! I thought the clear boxes from the heads, wigs, and MDD hand we've bought were really neat so I've saved all of them. The stickers are a pain to get off though, but not near as bad as the one on top of the snake tank, that took me around 3 1/2 hours! I showed Mr. Ribbitz's tank to my mom the other day and she was really impressed and couldn't figure out how I got the leaves to look realistic. I'd love to figure out a fish tank at some point too with tiny Fimo fish, but so far the water ideas I've thought of would melt or warp the plastic boxes.

I was also trying to think of 'water' ideas -- turtles need a bit of a pond! I don't know how or even if it would work, but I wondered about painting the base/bottom blue with craft paint and then putting just slightly wrinkled up saran wrap over top of it. I also wondered about trying to use a blue marker on the saran wrap before putting it on top of the blue painted base. I think it might take the saran wrap a long time to dry but it might work. If I have a chance to try this idea in the next couple of weeks I'll let you know how it goes.
