kiomi Posted October 10, 2013 i love your outfit , can you tell me what kind of fabric you used? please Here are a few photos of the Chistmas outfits I came up with. I'm thinking of doing a more detailed post later because some of the work I did would not be hard for anyone to do. These two outfits are nearly the same, although I bought them at different locations and the materials they're made of are not the same: Here are the outdoor versions: And here is the third outfit: The hat was loaned to me by another dollfie owner. I would have liked to sew a skirt for this outfit but I didn't have time and I've only made one skirt so far so I'm not sure what to do to get what I want yet. SisterKyoya Posted October 11, 2013 Here is the couch that has been in some of my recent pictures, made from cardboard, fleece, jersey, an American Girl box, self-covered buttons, foam (for the cushions & the back), and lots of hot glue. I had already been using the box for storage and happened to be the size I need for our DD so I figured why not. Having just the couch without the storage would be a major waste of space, but since the box was already taking up room, that factor wasn't going to change. I think it's fun to have hidden storage in things like this because it can make organizing easier too. I used the color of fabric that I did so I wouldn't have to worry about colors transferring onto our DD, but I eventually plan on having blanket throws to put on it and seasonal pillows just for fun. This was my adapted version of My Froggy Stuff's project that was a bit challenging to enlarge for the 1/3 scale. It seriously uses a lot of materials and I still have to finish covering/adding the back so it doesn't keep falling off when Dakota leans against it. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

SisterKyoya Posted October 11, 2013 Thank you! It's really gotten a lot of use out of it already. I think this is a great way of doing DD beds too because then all the blankets and everything can be stored inside, or all the little toys and whatnot that each DD tend to have. At least ours do. Plus the couch arms makes it easier to get the lid off of the box. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

Nice job on it~ I really like how it doubles as a box as well, that's very creative and not to mention useful!
Tieren Posted October 12, 2013 i love your outfit , can you tell me what kind of fabric you used? please Sorry, I'm not really sure what they're made of since they were all just store-bought outfits that I modified for dollfies. A couple of the wine bottle cover-outfits are actually made of this really cheap material that only happens to look nice on the outside.
Bouncing_Tigger Posted October 12, 2013 Your couch is excellent!! And I love the idea of the storage underneath because it does offer a great way to keep all of their little 'things' in one place that is easily accessible! Awesome couch, awesome shirts...so what's next?
SisterKyoya Posted October 12, 2013 Wow, your couch looks professional. O_O I thought you bought it from somewhere... Haha. It looks really great. Nice job on it~ I really like how it doubles as a box as well, that's very creative and not to mention useful! Thank you. I had been telling my older sister about the homemade couch and when she saw it she said that my homemade stuff doesn't look homemade (even though the back was still falling off because it's not attached.) I do have a not so lovely picture of the unfinished back that gives a good idea how it was put together if anyone is interested. Your couch is excellent!! And I love the idea of the storage underneath because it does offer a great way to keep all of their little 'things' in one place that is easily accessible! Awesome couch, awesome shirts...so what's next? Thank you! On some of the other Froggy Stuff videos she makes things with storage in them and I wasn't sure why this wasn't one of them. I just really hate wasted space, and as big as this is I didn't want it just empty inside. Plus the stuff in the box helps give weight to the couch too. As for what's next... hmm... I have lots of projects I'm always working on and it depends on what I need next. The couch I started working on because I wanted something that looked like a living room for photos, so there is also a window I'm mostly finished with (cardboard, fabric, 2 page picture from a magazine, contact paper, & hot glue.) I'm pretty sure I finally figured out a way to make changeable backdrops for Naiomi's stage (where I do all of the photos at the moment) so I have something more interesting than the blue fabric. I made a wooden table and covered it in contact paper and duct tape (haha, sounds horrible!) and I need to make chairs for it before Thanksgiving (more Froggy Stuff videos), Tama wants me to make cookie cutters for Halloween and Christmas. I have Halloween costumes to do and masks to go with them. I made a blank book yesterday for a photo story I want to do soon but I've had to put that on hold because of mandatory bed rest with my lower back problems acting up again. I've been having a lot of fun thinking about what kind of little kid crafts can be done in DD scale, and similarly, what real foods for the holidays that can be done in DD scale as well. And Dolly keeps asking me to make him a half pipe now that he has a skateboard. (I think I'll stop there... lol) I'm starting to get the feeling that many people don't have creativity sparks quite as... persistent (?) as this. It's no surprise that I've got lists all over the place to help me keep track of what I'm doing, and Pinterest has been a major help as well. About half of my boards are DD related and I'm sure I look like a crazy person but it's so nice to get all of that info out of my head so I can work on what I need to be doing but I don't lose the inspirations either. I just happen to be highly creative. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
katnaper Posted October 14, 2013 Trying my hand at doing a dress form. So far tried 2 methods duct tape which was too thick, then tried tissue and watered down glue and found that bathroom tissue basically melts off, I used Bounty and that seemed to work better. I won't quite know for sure until it dries off. This is a photo of the body after I did the Bounty wrap. I tried using it to smooth out the original Bath Tissue wrap. I'm planning on using expanding foam inside once it dries out and hardens. I'm also planning another one that just has the Bounty wrap and using just some kind of fiberfill inside. Anyway, here's a photo of how she looks. I took off the plastic wrap from the legs and arms since some glue got on the leg. Will post more progress photos once it dries. We have our own BLOG. SisterKyoya Posted October 16, 2013 SK, the sofa is amazing. I thought it was store bought! Thank you! Many people on the forums are rather curious people so I was surprised when no one asked about it. Katnaper- I think the dress form idea is pretty cool, but I do wonder a bit why it's needed. I know what they are for with people, but since the dolls are already there to fit clothes to I couldn't quite figure out why a DD dress form would be necessary. That hasn't stopped me from being highly curious and wondering if there would be a use I hadn't thought of yet. As for me, I've been trying to use my mandatory bed rest to productive use. I'm working my way through Halloween costumes and rediscovering that felt, hot glue, and a little hand sewing can go a long way. I'm getting pretty excited to get them done and hoping that my back will be doing better so I can do photos for Halloween. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
PrettyCranium Posted October 16, 2013 For me, I'd use a dress form because I would be scared of damaging the DD with pins, marking pencils, etc. But I tend to be overly cautious.
katnaper Posted October 16, 2013 For me, I'd use a dress form because I would be scared of damaging the DD with pins, marking pencils, etc. But I tend to be overly cautious. Me too in a way but also because I don' t like having to undress them every time and it helps when I need to pin something. Also, hubby wanted bodies he can mold armor on but I couldn't spare him one for his experiments. I will be doung the same with the resin boys so I don't have to keep holding them since they're so darned heavy. We have our own BLOG. ArcticKitsune Posted November 20, 2013 Made this entire set but it still needs a vest and blazer to be complete Oh wow, that actually looks awesome. Has this nice snowy-ice vibe to her which is neat. ------ Well, I guess as for myself trying to modify the Santa outfits I had gifted fit Varakitsu of mine. It's all big and puffy so need to make it fit more tightly along with having accessories actually worn by her. The proud master of a foxy (DD) Varakitsu, Renge, & Caster; Kon!~ Kon! katnaper Posted November 28, 2013 Trying my hand at a couple of these: This is how big they are relative to my thumb. They are about 1in wide by 2 inches long. Been having a hard time getting the sides even as I need to sand it down first. The Artemis Fowl one is smooth because I used a pre made mini diary as I just changed the covers. Bouncing_Tigger Posted November 28, 2013 Those books are great! I've been thinking about trying something similar myself using the titles of some of my favourite books. You've given me hope that I might actually be able to do it!
katnaper Posted November 29, 2013 Those books are great! I've been thinking about trying something similar myself using the titles of some of my favourite books. You've given me hope that I might actually be able to do it! Those are super cool! ~Sister Kyoya Thank you both. It's still a WIP and I'm trying to find ways to see if there is any way an actual book could be 'printed' without it being too bulky. Don't ask me why I wanna do that, I just really wanna see if I could find a way for the pages to print properly without it being too thick or me needing to put in tons of manipulation to the print just to get it to print the right order of pages. Also, I need access to a better 'cutter' so that the pages are more even and I don't have to sand the edges so much. Otherwise the gluing and putting it together are pretty much the same as with the manga tutorial by XOHimitsuOX except I added some elements of book binding techniques for regular books. Now I just have to work on cutting my paper properly... We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. SisterKyoya Posted January 12, 2014 It doesn't show in these pictures, but the DD height girl's feet DO reach the floor. The smaller MDD or Obitsu 45cm or smaller don't because of the height of the box I used. Couch Construction-No text by Sister Kyoya, on Flickr Much bigger versions of this pic are on Flickr. Couch Construction by Sister Kyoya, on Flickr And here is the 'ugly shot' of the back of the couch. All I need to do to finish it is to cut out two layers of cardboard in the shape of the back of the couch, cover it with the fleece and jersey and glue it all together. I took this shot so I'd be able to look back if I needed to at some point to remember how I did it. It took me a few days to get to this point, and nearly a bag of hot glue sticks. To make a sturdy couch I'm not sure if thin cereal box cardboard would work. The kind of cardboard I used was just regular corrugated cardboard, like most shipping boxes are made from. I'd love to see pics if you ever decide to do this project! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
