Cazzie_Bliss Posted December 18, 2012 Hello. I know you can use MSC on Dollfie Dreams for faceup - but my friend uses Purity Seal and it's much easier for me to get a hold of - I was just wondering how it effects Dollfie Dreams if anyone has used it before. Does it damage them in anyway? I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had used it or not before I did myself. Also - how do you remove a faceup? ^w^
SchroedingersCat Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Purity Seal... As in citadel paints sealant? Can't see why not, all their stuff is water based. Edit: Google-sensei has informed me that citadel and reaper paint products are safe for use on vinyl. Edited December 18, 2012 by Guest Now with +/- 15% more uncertainty! I'll see if I can find that thread for you to read. It was quite interesting. Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli

Poofiemus Posted December 18, 2012 Yeah, some sealers don't get along well with vinyl--makes the surface all sticky. If you're curious, you could do a test on something unnoticeable and/or replaceable, like the head's cap or a spare hand. You might also consider testing on bits of baked polymer clay--apparently, polymer clay, vinyl, and PVC are chemically related and react similarly to different solvents like those in spray sealers. Archangeli, that was really interesting about the MSC vs the Purity Seal lightening over the course of several layers. Volks' normal skintones being so pale means that us DD people don't often see it, but it's something that I'll definitely be keeping in mind if I ever want to spray-seal any dark polymer clay pieces. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
chien Posted December 18, 2012 I love Purity Seal. Yes, it makes the vinyl sticky, but only if you do the base cost with it. If you do your base coat with MSC and the subsequent layers in PS, it won't be sticky. The texture of PS is awesome-- takes color awesomely and doesn't make the head look dusty and faded.
