Doll meet in Downtown Charleston SC

Early this month, the local BJD group got together to have a meet before years end. We went to a local bakery for lunch and then went to the park on The Battery downtown. I wound up taking a TON of pics so I won't put all of them here. If you want to see everything, just check here:

 

 

But I did want to share a few of the pics I really liked from the meetup. I hope you enjoy them!

 

We had a few dolls show up and as usual, mine were the only DD's. But this will soon change as one of the local girls finally bought one for herself! She is just waiting on some parts to get her finished up.

 

We met at a place called Saffron and it was awesome. They gave us the run of the back patio area and we had 4 tables put together for us to eat on and display the dolls. Here's some shots of that.

Now this WAS a bakery so they had to have some sweets irght? RIGHT?? And oh boy did they!

Okay, okay, enuff food! After we dragged ourselves out of the bakery, we drove down to The Battery at the tip of the peninsula. There is a nice park area here with big statues and LOTS of Civil War era cannons. We spread out down here and basically took over tha joint!

Since we were on the harbor, Minako wandered over to the river edge.

The small dark spot in the background of this next photo is Fort Sumter, the place where the first shot of the Civil War was fired.

Soon after waking up from a sugar coma, Saber decided to come over and hog the limelight.... I mean, pose for photos!

In the center of the park was a huge gazebo. Saber decided it was to her liking so she went and did some posing for me there.

In the background is our state tree, the Palmetto. They used these trees to build forts that would "give" when hit with cannon balls. It really ticked off the Yankees. LOL

We had a lot of people drop by asking if we were doing a project or something. I just told people we were in a club that liked to collect dolls and do photography. Everyone was pretty nice to us and I didn't hear any negative reactions. And right after I took the pic below, a lady came by and fawned all over them, saying they were her "new babies". She changed her tune when I told her how much Saber cost....

All in all it was a good day. We had fun, got stuffed with great food and took some really good photos.

The photos you took of your girls are spectacular! The scenery is beautiful. The colors look so lush. I love how the water sparkles and reflects the sky. Your girls are perfectly dressed in matching outfits. They are so adorable! ❤

Thank you! We had a great time at the bakery and down at the park. It's a popular tourist spot so we figured it would be nice for photos. I'm glad you liked the girls outfits.... they wanted to be a little bit dressy this time.

OMG ! If I would go to a bakery like that I would gain 5 pounds just by looking at the sweets ,ha!ha!

But it must be really surprising for them to learn about the prices ....it is far from the price

I really love quite a few of these shots. It's obvious you were really paying attention to the composition of the photograph... they are very lovely and well balanced.

Thank you very much! That bakery had so many wonderful things, I wish I could have sampled all of them! But they weren't cheap so I could only get one thing. And yes, I was really happy everyone who talked to me had good things to say. Heh, that one lady thought she heard me wrong when I told her Sabers cost.

 

I'm glad you are meeting more people near you and hosting meets at your place. It's fun to talk with others about our girls and then mess around with them and photos.

We had a really good time. And it was probably in the low 70's out there so nice weather. I hope we get snow this year, I'd love my girls to be able to see it and play in it!

 

Thanks about the photos, I really did try to focus on making them look good with some flair to them. I admit I had to "tweak" a few of them with GIMP in order to knock down some really bad brightness issues but overall most of them turned out really good. And I agree, having adorable models makes taking the pics soooo much easier!

Heh, I know what you mean but don't worry. Saber and Minako were well posed and steady up there. I made sure wind wouldn't knock them over or anything before I backed away and snapped the photos. I wouldn't dare let my girls be in any real peril.
