Too much work! [Clarice]

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, I don't really celebrate Christmas. I always associated it with a family holiday, but as I'm not in touch with any of my own family, I don't really have reason to celebrate it.

Clarice, on the other hand, does celebrate the holiday. But, unfortunately for her, she has a very demanding job. It's not uncommon for her to have to work night shifts, and holidays are out of the question for her. She loves her job anyway though, just not some of the people she meets through it...

She decided to get most of her paperwork done tonight, so she could have a little more fun for the next few days. Plopped right down on the couch as soon as she got home, without even bothering to take her shoes and motorcycle goggles off.

Those are such adorable photos! She has such a cool style. I love her poses. It is great to get a chance to unwind after a lot of work. I hope she can relax and enjoy herself a bit.

I think there are other non-family related ways to spend the holidays. Some holidays are quite food oriented. I was recently told that tamales are a Christmas food only in South Texas. haha I didn't even think about it that other people in different parts of the country as well as in other parts of the world might not be doing what we would be doing for the holidays: eating tamales, beef brisket, sausages, roasted chicken, assorted festive cookies, and seasonal fruits.

Thanksgiving has become a holiday I spend with my friends and not my family. It's too expensive to fly home from Minnesota to Texas for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Because of where I work, I have friends from many parts of the world. There are always plenty of us in town for Thanksgiving so we celebrate it together. Last year, one of my friends from Lebanon decided to try out doing a traditional American style Thanksgiving dinner. She brined and cooked a turkey herself, and we made tons of side dishes. She burnt herself out doing it, so this year we just had dinner in the hospital cafe since she signed up to work for that holiday. Both Thanksgivings were a lot of fun.

I hope you and Clarice can do some things that are relaxing and enjoyable this holiday season.

Wow, I really love Clarice's style. She has so many vibrant colours -- where did you find her wig and eyes?

The photos are awesome.

Aaw, thank you very much! Her wig is an old LUTS wig, and her eyes are Miu's default eyes. :3

Thank you so much!! She'll definitely be relaxing after all her paperwork is finished!

Haha, I guess that might be one explanation as to why my stepmother and her mother always made tamales for Christmas. I don't remember if they ever made it for any other holiday.

Jey and I do celebrate the holidays with a special dinner. I would definitely say that our holidays are mostly food-oriented. LOL. We had some brined turkey for Thanksgiving this year (though we didn't do it ourselves, we bought it from the store that way), and it was good. I'm not usually one for turkey, but I loved it!

It's amazing how brining can make turkey so tasty. I am glad you have someone to cook with and enjoy food with. There is something about food that makes it great for celebrating. We can spend all day preparing something we eat in less than an hour but we do it year after year. It's fun for some reason. We often gather around even just a simple pot of tea and a few cookies.
