battrastard Posted February 22, 2014 Not sure what series I'll start next tho. Maybe it's time to watch some older Miyazaki films instead... Not exactly Miyazaki, but it's a start! Watched the AppleSeed CG ver last weekend, then finished up with the New Dominion Tank Police.. I want to get to 3x3 Eyes, Legend of the Divine Demon this week, then Record of Lodoss War, if I can squeeze it in... *probably just 3x3, we do have other things going on... (sigh)* But, that reminds me that the Kiddos and I ought to marathon the Miyazaki films I do have someday soon! "Madness takes it's toll, Please have exact change!" I want to get to 3x3 Eyes, Legend of the Divine Demon this week, then Record of Lodoss War, if I can squeeze it in... *probably just 3x3, we do have other things going on... (sigh)* But, that reminds me that the Kiddos and I ought to marathon the Miyazaki films I do have someday soon! Heh, I've yet to see the Appleseed movie or NDTP but I do have the original 3x3 Eyes series and it was really cool. Is this "Divine Demon" thing a movie or a second series? I don't think I've heard of that one before. I also have "Record of Lodoss War" but it's been a while since I saw it. I remember it was pretty neat tho, very D&D feeling. As for Miyazaki films, I tried watching some of his OLD ones today, the first one being "My Neighbors, The Yamadas". I got about 40 minutes in and had to stop it. It was cute enuff but it was just so oddly drawn and more slice of life styled than what I'm used to, it just didn't do much for me. I have to say this is the first time I've ever thought this way about a Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film. But that was quickly rectified by watching "Pom Poko", another older film from Ghibli. If you hadn't heard of it, it's basically about raccoons and their fight against humans flattening their forest to make subdivisions. It was hilarious at times and very fun. It also had a bit of a snarky finger pointing deal to it about saving habitats and animals so if you watch it, be prepared for that. But overall it was really good. After that I started to watch a TV series called "Kamisama Kiss". I read a few reviews on it recently and decided to give it a shot.... glad I did too because it's really funny and cute. It has youkai, kitsune and a cute girl in it along with a very interesting story. To me it's one of those shows where you just can't wait to see the next episode. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
DivinitaAria Posted February 25, 2014 Watching Mysterious Girlfriend X with my boyfriend who has already seen it. Also watched Hidamari Sketch. Cute, but I can't get over the simplistic style...I think the show needs something more to make up for that. Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
me-ow Posted June 2, 2014 Currently watching Kill la Kill after a friend suggested it to me. They said it'd be similar to FLCL (which I love )... I suppose it's similar in the some comedy aspects, but the two are very, very different. However, I'm enjoying it nonetheless!!
Talolili Posted June 3, 2014 I'm watching Psycho-Pass. It's was only OK at first but now things are getting much more interesting. I need to get part two now.
Poofiemus Posted June 3, 2014 Just picked up "No Game No Life." The premise seems like it'll be pretty cookie-cutter, but the hilarious, slightly sociopathic main characters and the creativity of some of the games totally makes up for it. I'm totally watching this series thanks to how much it's made me laugh. However, I can really only handle a couple episodes at a time because of the art direction. The animation and underlying drawings are actually really nice, but everything has this kind of multicolored rainbow wash over it, and there are a ridiculous number of lens flares. It's like if J. J. Abrams got sponsored by Skittles. I have to switch to Game of Thrones every couple of episodes because after that variegated rainbow vomit I find its dismal "real is brown" color palette actually soothing. Thank god the characters and laughs are worth it. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
Doll Face Posted June 14, 2014 I JUST got back into anime after about five years. Currently I'm watching Attack on Titan and Kamigami no Asobi. I also watch/watched Black Butler, and The Host Club.
battrastard Posted June 15, 2014 Just finished marathoning Rozen Maiden and Rozen Maiden: Traumend, recommended by Bux_Darkangel. (She's new here, and looking to create Suigintou! And, I can see why, now!) An awesome series, made me laugh, Did bring a tear or two... Also, can see why suiseiseiki4life(sp) has a fascination, also.. Any opinions/ideas or suggestions on whichever DD head would work for 'gintou-chan are recommended.. Yes..... she's quite close to joining the Dark Side... I just need to get to making cookies! katnaper Posted June 15, 2014 Been doing a movie marathon of sorts and just finished watching 'My neighbor Totoro' with my daughter. We both loved it. I also finished watching 'Spirited Away' and 'Howl's Moving Castle' last night and I loved them both. I think I will watch the subbed version of Howl with my kid. I think she'll like it. Planning on 'Princess Mononoke' tomorrow. I thought I'd go over my anime movie to watch list while waiting for episodes of a few anime's I'm following. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den
Ravendruid Posted June 15, 2014 I haven't seen a Miyazaki movie that I haven't loved. I'm not sure that I could pick a clear favorite, but at this specific minute I would have to say Spirited Away. Various other times I might say Howells, Ponyo, or Kiki's Delivery service, though. I loved Totoro, too, but it just didn't feel quite as personal to me as some of the others. I quite enjoyed Princess Mononoke, but it feels very different from the rest on this list. Much more of an action show. SK didn't care for that one much. If oyu can find it, I highly recommend "The Cat Returns", as well. Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
baldylox Posted June 15, 2014 I've been going thru lots of stuff lately but one show that stood out was the series "Is this a Zombie?". It has 2 seasons and both were great. The show has nice visuals, great action and is really funny at times. If you don't believe me, just give the first episode or two a shot. ANY show that has a main male character that's a zombie AND a magical girl has got to be awesome. And yes, that's not a mistake.... I said HE is a magical GIRL. WITH A CHAINSAW. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Billy This is one we both just started a little bit ago. Not very far in, but it is definitely fun and funny. Two others we just started on are Steins:gate, and Chaos:Head. Both of these are very psychological, they love to mess with your head. Like the Matrix, but with a lot more twists and turns. The other anime we just finished was Karneval. This was also very fun, but with a slight dark side to it. The tone reminded me a lot of D-Gray man. Unfortunately, it ends with a lot of loose threads still dangling, so there had better be a second season. baldylox Posted June 16, 2014 Oh I LOVED Steins Gate! An excellent sci-fi series for sure. You ain't kiddin' about all the twists and turns in that one! I just started "Dragon Crisis" and after 3 episodes it seems pretty cool. I like dragons so maybe that's why I'm digging it... DarkAvenger696 Posted June 18, 2014 WAH I gotta get in on this!! @Billy and Ravendruid OMG YEEEES IS THIS A ZOMBIE IS AMAZING!!! *flails around* I laughed so hard I cried when he transformed for the first time bwahahahaha I just bought season 2 and can't wait to see what silly madness comes forth I just love the silly plot! and and you are both my new favorite anime people!! I just ADORE Steins Gate!! I loved the 'mad' scientist from the very beginning and how the plot unfolding and the twisy turns along the way it was just such a good show at some points I felt like it WAS a book because it keeps you so interested and curious about what is going on I watched the last part of it a few days ago and I wont spoil it for anyone that is still on that crazy train ride but OMG! thats all I can say about how it ended. baldylox Posted June 18, 2014 DA696, if you haven't seen the second season of "Is this a Zombie?" yet, all you need to know is that in the first 2 episodes I laughed so hard I cried. They were THAT friggin funny. The rest of the season was good too but those two eps ruled. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. DivinitaAria Posted June 29, 2014 Just picked up "No Game No Life." I'm totally watching this series thanks to how much it's made me laugh. I started watching No Game No Life a few days ago. Just finished episode 3 and I'm not understanding the hype... Does it pick up? I agree that it's quite cookie cutter... Also watching Revolutionary Girl Utena. I had seen some of the movie as a kid, but actually watching the anime as an adult is like..wow...I'm loving it so far Kobato! I enjoy Kobato's adventures to fill up her bottle. It's cute Oh! And Haruhi...Finally going through Haruhi. Silly... I recently finished Clannad After Story and ohmygoshaskldfa;sdf so good! Anime I am looking forward to: Sailor Moon Crystal, Glasslip, the new Persona animation! katnaper Posted June 30, 2014 I just finished watching Gokusen (and read the manga too!). It was really funny and the plot was fresh ( for me at least). Started on Code Breaker and kinda not sure about it yet. Finished Nausicaa and loved that and looking torward to Psycho Pass 2 but that doesn't come out till October I guess. We have our own BLOG. yokha Posted July 1, 2014 Sailor moon op and transformation leaked footage, I like it so far, will not judge until watching in person. http://youtube.com/watch?v=vAPjfUD5Nbg
Poofiemus Posted July 1, 2014 The senshi have vector-rendered 3D models? o.o (Usagi's is definitely used in the transformation, and you can tell the others do too in the OP.) Looks like they'll be toggling during action scenes to make moving camera shots etc. easier. The model is really nice, I'll admit, but I too will be reserving judgement on this tactic until I see where they switch between the 2D and 3D, and how the 3D looks in higher resolution. I also just realized that SMCrystal will be premiering the same weekend of Anime Expo--pretty sneaky! I wonder what percentage of convention goers will be up at 3AM having Sailor Moon parties this Saturday? In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. Ravendruid Posted July 1, 2014 Sailor Moon and Free! are the two anime that are on the "absolute must watch" list in our house this season. I've been ridiculously excited about SM since I first read the announcement. Not to mention I've been almost religiosly following the re-release of the original series. I'm still not 100% on board with the new look for the characters, I think Usagi, at least, looks just a bit too old (or maybe it's just too much make-up), but it will probably grow on me as I watch. deadlegato Posted July 2, 2014 Omg omg those links just make me so much more excited for new sailor moon. If I could sew those skin-tight fuku my girls would be cosplaying.
yokha Posted July 2, 2014 Oh yeah on the new sailormoon opening we can see queen serenity isn't her hair should be silver/white? Or is that neo queen serenity? I'm sure her dress looks like queen serenity (usagi moon mother)
katnaper Posted July 2, 2014 Too bad the Sailormoon link says its no longer available. Anyway, currently watching City Hunter and at all the 80's fashion (ah, memories...) and artwork but it still is a great show to watch. Love the stories. Gives me a Magnum PI-ish feel and I well remember when my Mom and Dad followed that show avidly (I for one was more the Remington Steele type). We have our own BLOG.
