baldylox Posted November 28, 2011 That totally sounds like something I would like. Thanks for the recommendation!Linda S. galatia9 No problem! It's a really cool show that shows so many facets of otaku culture, I was constantly going "Oh! I know that place! Oh! I know that series!" It's quite fun. Also, the characters make the show. They have a wide variety of otaku hobbies in the club.... gunpla guys, a cosplay girl, video games, role play, etc. i suggest all otaku see this series! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Galvatim Posted November 28, 2011 I finished up Sora no Woto (Sound of the Sky) the other night. You may have heard it called a "militarized K-on!" which it is. It's also a pretty good series in it's on right. I've started watching Rosario + Vampire. I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from reading the manga. Let's see. I just finished up both seasons of Queens Blade along with all the OVA stuff. It was a much better story than I was expecting for sure. Yes, it's a fanservice show like Ikki Tousen but it actually had great characters and a decent storyline. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I actually just ordered the first season of Queens Blade from Right Stuf, along with Arakawa Under the Bridge.

I watched the first season of K-on and it was "ok" to me. I have the second season but have yet to watch it. If you liked Ikki Tousen, you'll like QB. It's fun to watch and the Bluray looks amazing. I haven't seen Arakawa yet but I do plan to. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
OtakuDepot Posted November 28, 2011 Before that I watched an oddball show called Ebichan about a housekeeping hamster who lives with an office lady who's love life sucks. This show is WAY ecchi and over the top for adult themes but it's one of the funniest shows I've seen. If you get the chance to watch it, DO IT. I also watched all of Genshiken and that show was excellent. Very slice of life with no real "action" to speak of. It follows a group of otaku in college and it's so very good. Great characters and story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad you liked both of these! Genshiken is my 'all time' favorite animen and manga by far! I'm currently watching Usagi Drop which I think is just fantastic!!! **James Otaku Depot's growing family. “Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.” ― Terry Pratchett, Jingo
JoltFiend Posted November 28, 2011 Usagi Drop was great. I didn't know anything about it, but a friend of mine recommended it to me. I was hooked instantly after just watching the first episode.

I just LOVE that montage at the end of the story; it sums up everything. Makoto Shinkai's sense of clothing style for this animated film is superb. I like his style XD What a symbolic pic!! baldylox Posted November 29, 2011 Shinkai is awesome! I have all his movies and love them all. But 5cm/sec still holds as my favorite of his. The story, the music, and the awesome detailing in the characters and backgrounds is amazing. I've only watched 5cm 3 times.... I guess I need to watch it again now. Billy Yes, Shinkai is quite a talented individual. If only he's better at animating characters... I mean, he's superb in animating animals, clouds, different settings and the likes, but he's a little lacking in his ability to animate his characters. In spite of his flaws, I will still be following his works, . Have you watched Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below yet? I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. It follows a group of otaku in college and it's so very good. Great characters and story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I like Genshiken - every time I rewatch the first few eps from season 1 I feel like I'm watching an anime about my life (with me as Saki and hubby as Sasahara) and it's SO awkward LOL I don't keep up to date with new anime anymore, but I'm more than happy to re-watch a series that I really enjoyed. Recently I've been in the mood to rewatch Yakitate! Japan, but that might be because it's about baking! It always makes me hungry when I watch it. My sister recommended Black Butler (Kuroshltsuji) to me and I quite enjoyed it since it's slightly historical (takes place in Victorian England) and there's a story arc about Jack the Ripper early in. And Sebastian always serves the prettiest cakes and tarts for afternoon tea - again, making me hungry! My friends recommended Kaichou wa Maid-sama! to me earlier in the summer - and I though it was quite cute. I could personally relate to it since I'm heavily involved in planning the charity Maid Café at a big anime convention. I'm currently hooked on Fate/Zero and look forward to Saturday nights for the new eps! I haven't been able to say that about anything in a long, long time. Anyway, I just finished watching Hoshi o Ou Kodomo yesterday night. It was a very mind-opening session! I praise Shinkai for getting out of his comfort zone to bring us such a well-balanced piece. This time 'love' is portrayed in a different sense. Can you spot it? I'm not going to spoil it for you, but traces of it can be seen in many instances of the movie and in the ending song. And once again, Shinkai used a montage near the end of the movie, and the song that he chose for it fits what is implied by the story perfectly. If you are looking forward to downloading an English or Chinese subtitled version of the movie, I know where it is. Just PM me. I'm waiting for the official US release in blu-ray! I can't wait until it's out!! DD 娘 - Dollfie Dream® Daughters {1} : DDS [ユ-ピィ] - Euphie

Poofiemus Posted January 4, 2012 LOL, Littlebearries! Yeah, Madoka totally messes with you. Part of what makes it epic though! Man though, I'm so far behind on Fate/Zero, and that was pretty much the only one I was watching this season. ^^; Oh well, at least this way I get to enjoy a massive archive binge, those are always fun. milkytea Posted January 4, 2012 On the whole I don't watch a heck of a lot of anime, but my husband has been buying me the new Utena boxed sets. We're making our way through the final set and final season. When I suggested watching it after I unwrapped it for Christmas, he wasn't very interested--"Oh, yeah, we watched that last time,"--but as soon as we watched the second episode in the set it was very clear that we hadn't 'watched that last time.' XD His reaction was, "Just when I thought I understood what was going on, now I'm confused all over again!"
baldylox Posted January 5, 2012 I have the Madoka Magica series here on the computer but have yet to watch it. I want a full day to sit down and marathon it so all my attention is on that and that alone. But over the Holdiays, I managed to watch quite a few series... All 26 eps of Sekirei along with all the extras. Fun show since it has MUCH boobage and some cool fights. All 13 eps of Samurai Girls. I had high hopes for this series but overall it was ok. I had already seen the whole "Boy must power up his girl by kissing them which is awkward for both" bit from Sekirei. And the distinct style of the show, while pretty and different, drove me nuts after about 6 shows. All those STUPID ink splots showing up all over the place during fights was INCREDIBLY annoying. The extras were nice tho since you got to see MOAR boobies! And finally, I watched all 13 eps of Corpse Princess. I liked this show because it was well laid out and had some interesting characters. Action was cool most of the time too. But I'll tell you now, if you want closure in a series, DO NOT watch this. It totally dead ends at ep 13 and even says "to be continued"... which it doesn't. I HATE it when a show has no ending... drives me nuts. Anyway, I'm not sure what's up next for me, prolly another 13 ep series so I can marathon it all in one day. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

SakuraSylph Posted January 5, 2012 With the recent TV season having come to a close, I've finished up the last three shows I was following: Wagnaria II, Fate/Zero, and The Idolm@ster. Yesterday I started with Rozen Maiden, an older Geneon release that I'd been curious about for a while. It was recently license rescued with the OVAs thrown in as a bonus. So far (at 6 eps in) it's about some mischievous dolls, so people here might like it ^_^. SakuraSylph

I want a full day to sit down and marathon it so all my attention is on that and that alone. Billy For me, the first two episodes are kinda like "Ah... ok... nothing special going on here other than the nifty enemy illustrations..." but once you hit about the third episode, well, my friend and I who were watching it had a hard time stopping... we did at episode 8... and then I went back over the next day because we *had* to watch the rest of it. Each episode just starts ending on these insane cliffhangers/action points.
