What Anime are you watching?

I'm also watching a magical girl show! I'm finally going through Cardcaptor Sakura seriously this time. Being older makes me really appreciate all the cute designs and amazing art, and I'm trying really hard not to want to make a doll outfit for every other outfit Sakura has lol

It's on Crunchyroll. I'm surprised you haven't seen it, it's basically a girls with guns action show. The main villain is awesome too, loads of personality and just a lot of fun to watch.

Excellent!  I have Crunchyroll so I'll look this series up tonight and start watching it tomorrow.  Thanks for the info!

There's a tonne of decent new anime out in the Spring '24 lineup.

After much searching we located Blue Archive. I don't think it will be a huge hit but it has a large devoted fanbase from the game. They were generally impressed by the anime. The first episode was pretty good and the characters are super suitable for making into dolls. I already have one outfit, and another's on the way. The second character wasn't in the first episode though.

I missed it the first time around but the remake of Spice and Wolf is really awesome. Maybe it's the next Frieren. It could almost be set in the same magical world. I think a DD version of Holo would be quite likely.

Oh and Rin thought Lycoris Recoil was so good she's just ordered a Takina doll for herself.

I think I’m going to watch one of the sailor moons again since I was a teenager. I’m just not sure about wich one I should watch. 

I've been binging a lot of anime lately, first was Frieren, last night I finished Kusuriya no Hitorigoto/Apothecary Diaries, and today I started DunMeshi/Delicious in Dungeon.

  So I signed up for the free Crunchyroll trial so I could check out Frieren, and ended up getting completely derailed watching "A Place Further Than the Universe" instead! It's absolutely adorable without going into cloyingly cutesy territory. I love the characters, and despite the show's seemingly basic premise: "Teen girls try to get to Antarctica for various reasons," it has a lot of depth and heart. I love that you get insight into the adults' characters as well. 

And there are penguins! What's not to love? I've got for episodes left; suffice it to say I may not make it very far into Frieren before my trial runs out 😅.

 

I binged Sugar Apple Fairy Tale and I need moooooooooore! I want a DD of Shalle soooo badly omg! Wouldn't he be so pretty?!

Gonna watch some old stuff I haven't seen in years, starting with Inuyasha. I'm feeling really nostalgic lately. 😄

Haven't gotten to watch it yet but I've been gnawing at the bit to watch Dungeon Meshi

Spice and Wolf is just too good. Full title is Ookami to Koushinryou: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf. My dolls are delighted because Holo is voiced by our very own Yayoi Takatsuki. She does an incredible job.

Bartender's pretty good too. It's something a little different from the usual school or fantasy dramas.

Blue Archive's up later. Our very own Uzuki Shimamura voices Serika, who is our favourite character.

Volume 10 of the manga arrived today... 4 days before the official release day. Thank you Amazon 😊.

I thought I should check out the old IdolMaster series and see if I could spot any of my girls.

We're currently watching Idolmaster: Xenoglossia. So far I've spotted Yayoi, Iori and Haruka. I've not spotted Charles Donatello the 14th.

I don't have English subs so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't know if the subs would help though. It's a strange show that's kind of as strange as when the Battlestar Galactica crew reached 1980 earth. Iori seems to be mostly on her mobile phone and eating noodles. Yayoi is mostly being kawaii and Haruka seems to spend most of the first episode trying to stop people seeing her pantsu.

Intriguing stuff. I'm also unsure as to why Volks made this pair so many years after their Idolmaster days.

Well it will keep us busy as we face the agonising 6 month wait for the next Frieren manga.

 

I'm currently rewatching CLANNAD After Story now that I have the entire series on Blu-ray and oof. It's just impossible for me to not cry during certain moments 🥲 Still one of my all-time faves though.

My tribe are huge fans of Clannad, but I don't think we'll risk rewatching it due to the extreme trauma that happened last time. I should dress them up again because we now have 3 uniforms plus DD sized Dangos and maybe better matching wigs. We also have a tonne of Clannad merchandise.

As to our current watch list, the tribe are all very much enjoying Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included. I guess it's nothing particularly original but the best thing about it is that the angel in question is called Towa 😁. It does have some good characters who would also make good custom DD.

The other favourite new show is Spice & Wolf. It's arguably the best crop of the new season, with an interesting story and a killer soundtrack 🍎🍎🍎.

Your girls are too cute!!! They look absolutely precious in the CLANNAD school uniforms. I love how they have the flyer for the drama club too. I'll keep an eye out for future photos of them!

"Extreme trauma" is a pretty accurate description for watching CLANNAD lol but it's so worth it!

We'll do some more Clannad dressups soon, but it would be so much better with a violin for whoever cosplays Kotomi.

Spice & Wolf is turning into a classic. It's a very interesting story and another top notch anime set in some kind of version of Europe.

Here's N25 with our DD sized Dangos.

Konosuba is actually quite good. We started with season 3 (the current one). I don't know if it makes any difference as I'm not sure if there's a long term story arc.

Aqua is a really fun character. The girls very much enjoyed the legendary pantsu joke in episode 2.

Uh, the girls are also watching Vampire Dormitory. I don't know if I should be watching this 🙄, but they seemed really excited about all the dreamy guys who feature in it 🤒. It could be a good show if you want some inspiration for boy doll dressups.

Are Len and Kaito watching anxiously?

We're watching more Xenoglossia. We're not really sure what's going on since we don't have subtitles. Maybe they wouldn't help though.

Now we want Haruka so bad, but fortunately she's not a grail. I think the Pureneemo Haruka will be a future grail though as she's absolutely phenomenal.

We've found Girls Und Panzer. Omg now my girls want a scale tank, but I did warn them it would probably take up most of our living room. Ironically I used to have a huge Action Man tank when I was a kid.

It's a lot of fun and I'm learning a lot about tanks. And girls 😆. But especially tanks. The characters are nicely drawn and the final scene at the end of episode 1 is mindbogglingly stunning.

There's a tonne of new anime coming in July 2024. I think the girls will go nuts about Oshi No Ko season 2. But another that caught my eye is Plus Sized Elf. It's about a fast food addicted elf who is on the rather thicc sized and might just be an interesting character for a SmD with that larger bodyshape to cosplay as.

In the meantime, we're rewatching this...

Kimetsu no Yaiba, obviously. If I could, I would watch Mugen Ressha-hen on repeat, but I... can't bear to put myself to do that. So, tbh, I haven't watched it in a while, because I hate the Swordsmith Village Arc. Have to get back into it again though, because the remaining arcs are good. Even though best character is missing.

I also want to watch Oshi no Ko

My girlfriend, Akane Kurokawa, is in it, and I want to see her on the (big?) screen. @rudebuster and I just don't have time to do these things, because university is kicking our ass. 😭

We're now watching Plastic Memories.

Omg the girls bawled their eyes out last night, and we're only on episode 1 😭.

We're still watching Girls Und Panzer. It's possibly the most underrated anime I've found so far. It's tremendous fun and much better than I imagined it would be.

Hyouka is amazing. We binge watched it last night instead of watching the awful ⚽.

I think it's what would happen if you crossed Clannad with the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Also Studio Apartment Nice Lighting Angel Included is very good too but we've run out of episodes 😬. Towa reckons they should make a DDdy Towa from the show 😁.

I'm planning on finally starting My Hero Academia soon, and maybe Cardcaptor Sakura, but I want to wait until after this year's Youmacon so that I don't lose passion for the anime cosplays I'm making for that. (One of which involves my MDD I am really looking forward to Sailor Moon Cosmos hitting Netflix in August, and also worth mentioning is that I apparently finished Yamishibai?? The new season I just started is actually just live-action reenactments of the first seasons' stories? Which sounds fun, but i haven't actually watched any yet.
