djgamer Posted September 24, 2012 I catch all my shows on bestanimes.org and kumby.com Best Animes has the most recent and popular animes and kumby is good about having some of the ones from a few years back. Both are heavy in subbed anime but Best Animes also has a dubbed section. Proud captain of two lovely squires, Kimberly and Airana
PuffsxPlu Posted September 25, 2012 For about the 20th time, I'm reliving my childhood and watching Sailor Moon. I feel like I'm so behind in anime and manga, because I fell out of the culture when I moved to Ohio. I have no bookstores nearby and Shojo Beat abandoned me. I wonder if they'll ever start releasing Shojo Beat again. I'd be the first to subscribe. They discontinued Shojo Beat about a month after I discovered it. I was super disappointed. Shonen Jump is ok, it's hard to just dive in to some of these long running series. We don't really have any great stores for Manga or anime where I live, so I'd be lost without Crunchyroll and Netflix. It was a great magazine, I waited for it anxiously every month. More even than the manga, I loved the side-articles and the culture section. I actually haven't watched any animes on netflix aside from Rosen Lied, and that only because I'd heard of it. I'll check it out
littlebearries Posted September 26, 2012 I watched the first two episodes of Polar Bear's Cafe... and it was... INSANE. Amusing, but insane. Also watched the first two episodes of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, and thought it was pretty cute. I absolutely loved the reason the monsters were after the main boy. Hilarious XD
katnaper Posted September 27, 2012 Just finished watching Zombie Loan. S'kay, I guess. Also watched Nabari. Kinda long winded way telling of the story, I thought but watchable. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den

mistyaera Posted October 5, 2012 It's been a long time since I watched anime, but I'm slowly getting back into it. I'm currently re-watching Code Geass with plans to start Fate/Stay next (even though I heard the anime for it isn't good, I still want to see what it's about.) baldylox Posted October 5, 2012 It's been a long time since I watched anime, but I'm slowly getting back into it. I'm currently re-watching Code Geass with plans to start Fate/Stay next (even though I heard the anime for it isn't good, I still want to see what it's about.) Ahh, Code Geass, how I love thee. One of my fave shows ever! As for FSN, I had NO interaction with the world of FSN before I saw the anime. And while I did have some questions on stuff after I watched the anime series, overall I found it extremely enjoyable. I think if you watch it after playing the games and stuff, you'll be disappointed wiht it. But if you haven't played the games or know much about the universe they're all in, I think you'll really enjoy the first series. I have yet to watch Fate Zero but I have it. I've heard lots of mixed reviews on it tho so I'm not sure what to expect from it since I still haven't played any of the games from the series. But I hope it's good. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Code Geass is such an amazing show. I recently cosplayed as Euphemia ^^; Which is why I'm re-watching it. I forgot just how awesome it was. Honestly, I haven't played the Fate/Stay games or anything. I'm a complete newbie to it, so I have high hopes. That's also exactly why I wanted to watch the anime first- that way I can still find it enjoyable. Then I probably will pursue learning a lot more about it. I already love Rin Tohsaka with no interaction with the series, so I have high hopes. Hopefully Fate Zero is good! I've heard it was better than the first anime, but I honestly have no idea aside from hearsay. Galvatim Posted October 5, 2012 The F/SN anime isn't great, but it's not bad. Certainly better than that snooze fest of a Tsukihime anime... It's a good gateway into the Fate/ series and Type-Moon in general, really. You should totally play the visual novel afterwards though. I've only watched the first half of Fate/Zero so far. It was pretty good. It's based on a novel series, so it isn't constrained by the visual novel tropes that held back F/SN is some places. You may want to watch the F/SN movie, Unlimited Bladeworks, as well. It cuts out a good chunk of the VN route, but it's not bad. Carnival Phantasm is a must see, although you'll want to familiarize yourself with the Tsukihime characters before hand. It's a humorous, random, mash up of F/SN and Tsukihime skits. I agree about both of the above. The Unlimited Bladeworks movie was really, really good in my opinion because it recapped the main series a little bit but then went off on another direction which was cool to see. The production value was great too. But Carnival Phantasm is an absolute laugh fest! I'm not all that familiar with the Tsukihime group even tho I watched the anime but they were still hilarious to watch. There are so many great gags in this show I can't even count them. But a few things stick out such as the Saber Maid episode and the Great Derby Race episode. I still cant get the image of Saber and Emiya riding that coin operated lion to the finish line! THAT was classic! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
finnleo Posted October 7, 2012 Finally finished rewatching Maid-sama over the weekend, after getting it into my disc collection. Such cute shoujo hilarity from start to finish, with JC Staff doing what they did best considering artwork. Makes me a bit sad the english manga went away with Tokyopop. djgamer Posted October 10, 2012 Busou Shinki I doubt it'll win any awards for greatness, but it's about tiny fighting robots girl. Kinda reminds me of Angelic Layer, only the dolls are sentient.Cute and fun to watch I think. It was pretty good. It's based on a novel series, so it isn't constrained by the visual novel tropes that held back F/SN is some places. I'm probably in the minority here, but I enjoyed the Fate/Stay Night anime much more than Fate/Zero. The main issue I had with Fate/Zero is it felt like they focused on the killing Caster arc too long, and it felt like a huge slog to get through all of that for me. It didn't help that I utterly despised both Caster and his master. I think the pacing for the series would've been better if ufotable had stayed to the original plan of only making it 13 episodes. Actually, I felt like the main reason I watched Fate/Zero was for the hilarity that was Rider. Any episode that Rider wasn't in or in that much felt so slow. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
JoltFiend Posted October 12, 2012 With the new season starting, I'm watching Jourmangand S2 and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. I also just finished watching AKB0048 recently after having put it off for a while. I originally watched the first four eps not knowing anything about AKB48, but after a friend kept linking their videos to me and me watching a bunch of their variety show episodes, a lot of the little things in reference to the AKB members in AKB0048 made sense. baldylox Posted October 12, 2012 I just started watching "Angel Beats" last night. I saw 3 episodes and so far it's..... okay. The premise is kinda neat but the OBVIOUS Haruhi clone named Yurippe kinda throws me off some. I did find the second episode pretty funny with all the pitfalls and traps getting the best of the main group tho. I hope to see more fun stuff like that. I know when this series came out it was all the rage but so far being 3 eps in, I'm not really seeing why there was so much talk about it. Maybe the next few eps will speed things up or ramp up the action/suspense. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. PrettyCranium Posted October 12, 2012 Wait it out, Billy. It takes a twist and gets a lot better! I agree about the Haruhi-ness of Yurippe, though.
baldylox Posted October 12, 2012 Wait it out, Billy. It takes a twist and gets a lot better! I agree about the Haruhi-ness of Yurippe, though. Thank you for letting me know! I usually will watch 5 or 6 eps of a 12-13 ep show to see if I'm liking it or not before I drop it. Some shows hook me right away while others totally show themselves to suck within the first 2-3 eps. I'll be sure to watch the rest of this show this weekend since I'll have some spare time to do so. JoltFiend Posted October 12, 2012 I totally enjoyed Angel Beats when I watched it. It was recommended to me by a friend who doesn't watch a whole lot of anime, so that said something about the show.
Ravendruid Posted October 12, 2012 SK Loved Angel Beats, it's one of her favorites. I liked it a lot, but didn't think it was quite as good as Kanon or Clannad, but SK doesn't like either of those two as much as I do. So, take from that what you will. It is one of those that takes a couple episodes to get going. Daddy of: Yuriko, Sohi, Miku and SK's many kids
finnleo Posted October 13, 2012 The big thing with Angel beats is its ending I guess, the north american bluray release left out the little extra episode that underlined it rather harshly. But because of that, I do like it better than clannad in its full that decided to do a Dallas ending with the afterstory. AB might also take a rewatch to get all the little hints the characters give off before actually coming to them. But its weird, since I didnt really consider Yurippe to be much of a haruhi clone in the end, hairband excluded. their motivations are quite different in the end. Deinbeck Posted October 14, 2012 Billy, wait it out, it get's better. It's not the best anime ever, but it was a pretty good trip as I remember. This season is looking really strong so far. It has a little bit of everything! Psycho - Pass - Sci-fi minority report sorta show? First episode was interesting, the heroine was a little ridiculous with the cliche naivety, but looks like it's worth a watch. Jojo's - I think it's the first arc. I've always meant to read it, and so far I'm digging it Shinsekai Yori - Don't know the source material, animation is average, but there's something that's bringing me back each episode. Really digging this so far. Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - a different take on Shoujo romance I think. I didn't realize I liked shoujo romance until fairly recently, so I'm no expert, but I like it so far. Sukitte Ii na yo - Looks like a straight-faced shoujo. Which I like. So yay! Robotics;Notes - I didn't have a high expectation going in, but the first episode had promise. Anyone play the VN that can comment? Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! - LOVE this show so far. KyoAni doing what they do best here. Little Busters! - Noumi is making me watch this. First episode was meh, but we'll see... K - I don't even have an opinion yet. I didn't get it. Will watch more. Btoom - 2 episodes in and I'm dumping it. Not my thing really, but it will have it's audience I imagine. Zetsuen no Tempest - I'm on the fence with this one. The first episode wasn't bad, but with so much to watch, "wasn't bad" might not cut it. That's all I've sampled. There's just too much this season! Kind of makes up for last season's suckage though, I guess. I haven't watched much anime in the last 4 or 5 months because I was finding it such a snooze-fest recently (with the odd exception here and there).
