PrettyCranium Posted August 5, 2013 I watched the sub of Tiger and Bunny, SK. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the show. I've already pre-ordered the movie! It's just not up there with "Evangelion" or FMA for me. But very enjoyable, and I'm a fan. I'm trying not to buy any of the figures, but it is so rare to see male figures at all that it is rare. I just have no room left! Billy, I loved Black Butler (first season much more than the second season). It seems that everyone is willing to put up with "tsundere" girls being little turds but as soon as a boy does it, it becomes unpalatable. I guess especially to certain audiences. And yes, I totally bought the Sebastian and Ciel Azone dolls But to each their own, diversity makes the world more interesting after all! In other news, the new Sailor Moon has been confirmed as coming out this winter. Yay!
baldylox Posted August 6, 2013 Billy, I loved Black Butler (first season much more than the second season). At first I was interested in it for sure due to the Victorian themes and the occult stylings. But having basically the same episode play out over and over got tedious to me. I guess I'm watching too much anime and have become jaded.... As for the tsundere girls being more popular than the boys, I'm not all about them either. A little Tsun Tsun is fine for either boys or girls but *to me* Ciel is just way more annoying with it since he's rich and in a powerful position and he knows it. Sure, he has a sad background and he has his reasons for being like he is but that doesn't make me like him any more. But it's like you said, different strokes for different folks. Wihtout some different styles and characters, everything gets stale and dull. Speaking of something different, I also was able to watch "Robotics Notes" and that show was also wonderful. It sure didn't go the way I thought it would, it went way off in another direction that was so much better! And it introduced a female shut in who was so much fun to watch and listen to, she was really great. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. katnaper Posted August 15, 2013 Currently watching Bleach. I tried watching One Piece but didn't really catch on like with Fairy Tailwhere I was hooked on the first episode. Maybe I will try again later. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. twiggysbabe Posted August 15, 2013 I'm currently watching mugen no jūnin and Hyouka , both series are really nice.
Songbird Posted August 15, 2013 I just started watching Attack on Titan the other day and I'm almost up to date on it. Other than that, nothing has really caught my interest other than the 009 Re-Cyborg movie.
baldylox Posted August 16, 2013 Another series I recently finished was "Robotics Notes" and it was excellent. It was totally not what I was expecting and the story twists and turns in ways that were fun and imaginative. It also introduced one of the funniest female otaku characters I've yet seen. She was epitome of a hikkiomori, fujoshi and overall computer nerd all rolled into one cute and hilarious package. I'm now in the middle of the first season of "Working!" and it's fun too. Some of the characters are just too funny and the interactions between them rock. I'm especially in love with the manager character Kyoko. Here's a pic of her doing what she does best.... eating. She's the dark haired one on the right. http://www.projectharuhi.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/WORKING-02-Large-20.jpg I think since she's pretty, is kinda lazy and loves eating sweets, she reminds me of my number one girl Manami so maybe that's why I love Kyoko so much. Talolili Posted August 18, 2013 I started watching Soul Eater the other day and I have two more seasons left, it's a pretty good show. I find myself enjoying almost every episode of it, I'm also watching an anime called Dangan Ronpa. It's based on a video game of the same name, but it's not nearly as violent or scary as I though it would be.
SisterKyoya Posted August 18, 2013 I love Soul Eater! I should really watch that again. Maybe I'll cycle through Soul Eater, Magnum P.I., Angelic Layer, Saiyuki, & Big Windup while I'm working. Urg... Big Windup... There is a ton of subtitled anime I'm trying to work through as well, but unfortunately I can't do that and work at the same time. I do find it really funny that I totally hate real sports, but there are a bunch of sports anime that I enjoy way more than I ever expected I would. Kuroko no Basket, Prince of Tennis, Bamboo Blade, and obviously Free! (but that's not a hard one to like ). Dear Boys I've seen one episode of so far and I like it, it's just the uber old art style I have trouble with. I swear there is more, I just can't think of them. Anime overall I just love because it seems to have at least a bit of everything, and I'm often surprised at what ones I end up loving that I would have never watched otherwise. Darker than Black, Eden of the East, Descendants of Darkness, Pumpkin Scissors, and Mirage of Blaze I watched because I was bored. They all have interesting and unique story lines that I just really wanted to know what would happen. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
baldylox Posted August 18, 2013 SK brings up something I've realized myself.... I absolutely detest watching live action sports but I really seem to enjoy anime based on them. I think it's due to how they can make anything seem over the top cool. Take for instance the anime "Saki" which is about the board game mahjong. *TO ME*, sitting and watching that game is incredibly boring, mainly because I know very little about how it's played. But watching the girls on Saki play was amazing. All the power moves, thinking ahead and plays they made to either help or hinder other players was really fascinating to see. SK also mentioned "Bamboo Blade" which is about a high school kendo club. Now I'm very interested in that sport even tho I don't do it myself. But I've read up on it and watched some live action and while interesting, it's still nothing I could say I love. But that anime was very good and I enjoyed watching every minute of it. I think it's all about the delivery and presentation of anime styled sports versus real life ones. Anime shows the sport as it is but amps up everything about it to make it visually appealing as well as character driven with a big emphasis on power/special moves. RL sports is just the opposite.... all they do is try to show how professional everyone is and how serious they take themselves. *TO ME* there's no fun in it at all. I know lots of people who are bigtime into their sports IRL but for me, they pale in comparison to most anime versions. Ok, I'm off the soap box now. As for anime I recently finished, I saw "Red Data Girl" and while interesting, it was kinda "off". I couldn't really point out why it was off but it just didn't follow thru with what it could have in my opinion. The main characters were alright but the main side character duo of sister and brother were where the story shined more to me. It's a fine show to watch due to the nice music and very pretty visuals but the story was a little lacking in my opinion. I just started "Infinite Stratos" and after 4 episodes I'm really hooked. It's got lots of action and fun characters so far. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
PrettyCranium Posted August 18, 2013 Just started Blue Exorcist. Pretty good so far, with some of the usual anime clichés.
Talolili Posted August 18, 2013 I've never watched any sports anime because I can't stand sports at all (no good at playing either)! I saw a few minutes of Prince of Tennis when it was on the air at Cartoon Network, but I don't think that really counts. There are just so many anime shows I want to watch but it's hard to find the time.
Pristine Crimson Posted August 21, 2013 Just finished Madoka, which was quite good! I'm glad that I soldiered through the, "Uh... magical girls, wtf?" to the story plot. It was so good!
taconacho Posted August 21, 2013 I couldn't help but get curious and really wanted to take a shot and jump on the bandwagon and watch the Free! anime. I'm pleasantly surprised, I was worried that maybe it'd be too "fanservicey" but they kept the story interesting and fast paced enough with the occasional little bit of fanservice wich is fun. Another anime I've recently started watching is Occult Academy, I don't really know anything about it and had never heard of it before but I was bored and found it on crunchyroll and it seems promising enough I'm only 2-3 episodes in though, hopefully it delivers a good plot and story
baldylox Posted August 21, 2013 Just started Blue Exorcist. Pretty good so far, with some of the usual anime clichés. Oh yeah, BE was a very fun show, I really enjoyed that one. I think they have a movie for this series too but I've not seen it yet. I finished up "Infinite Stratos" and it was a decent show, one of the more interesting harem type shows. I also watched "Upotte!" and I went into it not knowing what it was about. Turns out it was about a school for anthropomorphic guns/school girls. Weird. But being only 10 episodes, it was a short show and still interesting to watch. They took LOTS of gun info for the weapons the girls were supposed to be and crammed it in where ever they could without feeling like it was just random. So if you like girls and guns or girls AS guns, check this one out. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
lordloss Posted August 22, 2013 wish i had as much time as i used too to watch all my fav animes, but as it goes im more of a fan of the old school shows myself (and on or two really sappy ones just cus....) as of the moment my list of favs and ones im working through are.... Blue seed. Air TV (gotta have a good shoulder to cry on for this one sometimes) grand fortress macross angelic layer one peice revolutionary girl utena (such a trippy style ) outlaw star meh, not a big list, but a full time student dosent have the luxury of always having anime right at their fingertips there is no such thing as perfection. and i can only hope, with all my might that no such thing ever does exsist. kind of implies a limit to how amazing a person can be or something like that..... katnaper Posted August 29, 2013 Just started on Attack on Titan on Crunchyroll. Wow. baldylox Posted September 8, 2013 Since I've had some time on my hands lately, I've been watching lots of anime. But the series I just finished up called "X'amd: Lost Memories" was a standout among many series. I'm pretty sure it was done by the same people that did "Eureka 7" due to similar character designs and such. It was visually well done and had a great storyline too. If you haven't seen this one and like a good story with a sci-fi feel to it without going overboard, check this one out. If you haven't seen this one and like a good story with a sci-fi feel to it without going overboard, check this one out. Billy I really enjoyed X'amd, myself. I thought that the storyline was really interesting. SK couldn't get past more than one episode, though. Maybe not even an entire one. She thought it was boring and unoriginal. And it's not due to it being an action anime, she loved Darker than Black and a few other action-oriented ones. Personally I think she just didn't give it quite enough time. There was quite a bit of character development, a lot more than in many animes of similar length. The various relationships between all of the characters were handled really well, too. Especially as both friendships and family dynamics changed over time. I wouldn't put it in my top 10, but I certainly liked it and it's one I would definitely not mind re-watching. Cauldroness Posted September 8, 2013 Anyone here watching RWBY? It's not really an anime, but they're simulcasting it on CrunchyRoll and the previews were very cool, so I've been watching it. I was pretty disappointed up until the most recent episode (8) -- very cool fight sequence! Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram!
Lalet Posted September 18, 2013 I just finished watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica, after few months of having and neglecting it. Well... trailers looked nice, story seemed interesting and characters are very cute but in all honesty, I didn't like it as much as I thought I will. The story was not "catchy" at all, in my opinion, that is.
Cauldroness Posted September 18, 2013 I think Madoka Magica is one of those animes that you will like if you like both magical girl stories and deconstructions of magical girl stories. But if you don't enjoy the deconstruction aspect, it's probably not a good fit. I adored it, but I love inverted, warped, and deconstructed tropes.
