ArcticKitsune Posted July 6, 2014 Skimming through three pages back I highly recommend No Game No Life to people. I find it far from a cookie cutter and I find it highly unique and overly fun. I would even go as far to say it's a great definition to "fun". If you can't enjoy it then it's either not your cup of tea, you haven't gotten far enough, or you're just not able to be tuned in to No game no life's frequency. Might need to get back to that if you don't find it enjoyable at this point in time. I had so much fun watching it that the last episode gave me one of those rare highs that older Anime shows gave out easily. The fox girls and the kemonomimi girls being a bonus. If you want a fun and serious anime then this is recommended. --- I also highly recommend Knights of Sidonia to people here wanting to pick up a serious anime. I always see people complaining they want a serious anime, this is it! You want a serious anime? THIS! It has a nice void space feeling, great OST, and great serious voided space vibe to it. I loved the characters, mecha design, the Gauna, and just about everything about it. It's also going to get a second season. ----- For this summer season I'm so far picking up Argevollen and Aldnoah.Zero. I know there's more, I just haven't gotten around to it. The former looks promising while the latter looks highly promising and killer. It just might be the next Attack on Titan or Kill La Kill awesome. All those mecha emotions of Mars vs Earth. And I'm sure people are bashing Argevollen for the Gundam first episode vibe. Going to be nice seeing it going for that Break Blade ground battle struggling heavy battles. I'm going to have to recommend Aldenoah.Zero to mecha fans and to those wanting to be hurt by the feels. Enjoy! --- - Bonus: I also recommend the Jormungand Anime for those who love arm dealers, dark comedy, and crazy combat. You'll love Jormungand for the crazy humor, Koko, and how silly and intense it gets. ----- - Edit: Picked up Akame Ga Kill! with it appearing to be a fun anime. Got hooked once I heard the OST, saw the line-up of assassins, and saw the first episode of craziness. MC is annoying with his naive personality, though a fun one once it allows itself to get serious. Also picked up Sword Art Online II with it appearing interesting. I'm simply going to see where this goes. The proud master of a foxy (DD) Varakitsu, Renge, & Caster; Kon!~ Kon!

baldylox Posted July 15, 2014 I just finished up the 2013 version of "Rozen Maiden" and was a little unimpressed. I watched the original series a while ago and it was awesome.... so somehow this one was a bit of a letdown for me. Don't get me wrong, the dolls were still cool and all but the story was really different and it spent WAY too much time on the different timeline main characters. Not enuff doll action in my opinion. I also just started up "Mushibugyo" and it's pretty fun. Lot's of action, crazy monster bugs attacking feudal Edo and swordfights too. I'm only 10 episodes in but so far it's actually got a cool story going. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. battrastard Posted July 16, 2014 I just finished up the 2013 version of "Rozen Maiden" and was a little unimpressed. I'll say the same. although, the two episodes of "ouverture", *just spelling as I read it on gogoanime* gave some good insight as how Suigintou's character developed... Now I've finally gotten into Chobits, and that's a riot! I'm at about episode 20 - 21, and only able to watch one or two ep's each night... These two are definitely ones I'd go out and buy "hard copy"! (DVDs and such) "Madness takes it's toll, Please have exact change!"
sleepywolf Posted July 16, 2014 . Just finished watching "The Third: Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo". (Adapted from MAL, ANN and AniDB)In the distant future, because of an interplanetary war that had continued on for centuries, civilizations were ruined and the environment was reduced to mostly deserts. Human beings have lost everything, and only 1/5th of the population survived. A strange breed of humans, "The Third" is said to have appeared just after the war. Using their third red astral Eye on their forehead, they can control computer systems and other technologies. As such they rule the world by their superior intellect and abnormal abilities. In this harsh desert world, lives a young woman named Honoka; a master of chi and swordsmanship known by most as the Sword Dancer. With the help of her desert tank and its AI controller named Bogie, Honoka attempts to make a living as a "jack-of-all-trades" sellsword who accepts any job except murder. One day, she happens to find and rescue a young man named Iks in the desert. Entering his world, and accepting a job from him, the adventure begins for Honoka and Iks. Let me start off by saying that I liked this series quite much, despite its sometimes apparent flaws. If you expect a series with perfect animation and detailed character development, then look elsewhere In two or three episodes the animation style changes noticeably to a point wher you might think you're looking at Honoka's sister rather than Honoka. The series is split into several story archs, one or more epsiodes long. ArcticKitsune Posted August 1, 2014 - Bonus: I also recommend the Jormungand Anime for those who love arm dealers, dark comedy, and crazy combat. You'll love Jormungand for the crazy humor, Koko, and how silly and intense it gets. Yesssss Jormungand was so great. * ^ * Belated reply, and that it was. It was an awesome show. Many great moments and dark comedy to be had . The ending however felt rushed, though as a whole it's an overly enjoyable show. Enjoyed listening to the OSTs, the OP & EDs, and the remixed tracks. ------ - Tokyo Ghoul - Its hitting up on vibes I normally avoid, yet is somehow overly interesting. I unfamiliar with the very deep theme of it. Is it Punkish-Goth-lolita mixed in with Ghouls? Whatever theme it has, it's overly interesting, if feeling rushed at times. Interesting seeing monsters that would normally be slain in one anime act intelligent or social in another in a similar fashion to vampires. The main character irritates me though I'm still able to watch it because the show manages to carry on with him being lost. Pushing him around like an idling Mario in a 2D scrolling game . - Fate 2wei: This one sure is high on the comedy and yuriness. It's enjoyable, just simply a tad bit off putting with the loli yuriness, even if it is welcomed with more "mature" girls. It has its many awesome moments with me simply watching to see where it ends up and how Illya and Kuro co-exist with one another. That that female nurse appears to be a passive sadist . I should know more about her, yet I somehow don't. Ah well. - Aldnoah.Zero - Simply awesome. All those feels with everything feeling as it has weight. Maybe some people will find issues, that's their problem. I'm however finding this show to be overly awesome and the best for the weekend viewing anime. That music, that mecha serious action, that character development, and that Code Geass type vibe. This show appears to be just as awesome as with Gargantia and Psycho-Pass. I love this kind of vibe. It's quite enjoyable that I'm always looking forward to more. Seeing the characters using an out-classed mecha and their environment to the fullest is quite enjoyable. I'm on the side with those saying brain over over-powered mecha. My mind channeling Zech's (Gundam Wing) mindset of the enemy being more technologically advanced than the defenders here. Was overly fun seeing vehicles that would normally explode on a touch get repaired and behave as vehicles for once. - Argevollen: - This one is starting off slow with a touch of Gundam pride in it. It's mostly about grabbing a prototype mech, fleeing, then character growth along the way. Seeing as how it's 25 eps (or so I thought) I can see why it's building up gradually. I don't mind if its slow as we get to see more along the way. Hopefully. That bulky mecha vs mecha battle with the tides being turned to more humanoid mecha warfare with a hot-headed and impulsive main character. Seems interesting so I'll keep watching this. - Re:_Hamatora: - I'm not really expecting anybody to watch this or its first season. It's something to lighten the mood with outright craziness, slap-stick comedy, and sometimes serious topics at hand. It also pokes fun at parents protesting over violent video games because another character was being influenced by it. It's both amusing and overly serious, more so for the second thanks to a close buddy going rogue. It now deals with side-effects of using your powers which I find interesting. I'm curious. - Akame Ga Kill!: - This one seems to be interestingly balanced on a see-saw. It is interestingly balanced between comedy that is somehow clouded over with darkness that takes over the episode. It allows itself to be all happy to then slide gradually into the darkness bit-by-bit. The music is also awesome, if worryingly generic. Leone is awesome, as are the other characters. The main character also has that country side naivete that allows him to get into awkward situations while still somehow being an enjoyable character when he gets serious. It's because of him we even get comedy. Do hope this show can be the next Oda Nobuna anime (harem one) or one that ties up with Jormungand. ----- Also watching Mahouka, Sword Art Online 2, and such mentioned above. Even catching up on Wizard Barristars because Canada is in it. Just felt I needed to correct my previous post as well now that we're getting deeper into the shows. I'm loving the summer period while also getting highly worried for late summer and fall anime viewing with Japan going on anti-piracy mode. Right mindset, just a stupid way of enforcing their thoughts. I might have trouble keeping up with Anime when they crack down hard enough. I'm highly worried. katnaper Posted August 2, 2014 Just finished watching "Silver Spoon Season 1 and 2" and I liked it a lot so I read the manga as well. Its from the mangaka Arakawa Hiromu who did Full Metal Alchemist. The story is about as far away as you can get from FMA but its as engaging nonetheless. It tells the adventures of a city raised boy, Hachekin Yugo, who enrolls into an agricultural academy as a means of running away from the demands of his strict father. I love the humor and the storyline and can' wait for a Season 3. I really want to find out what Hachekin if going to make of himself. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. baldylox Posted August 16, 2014 I've been watching "Kill La Kill" and only have 3 episodes left. It's one of those shows that seems to suck me in and have me keep wanting to see what crazy crap will happen next. It really reminds me of "Gurren Lagaan" with how the animation and style look while keeping an insane action pace with humor thrown in at many points. I like the show a lot and can't wait to see how things turn out! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

baldylox Posted September 14, 2014 I marathoned "Gargantia on the Verduous Planet" last weekend and loved it. Very cool characters and story along with a twist near the end that came out of left field. I also watched "Tokyo Ravens" and while it wasn't anything spectacular, it was still interesting and had cool story elements to it. I like supernatural stuff and this had lots in it. Now I'm about 2/3 done with "Tiger and Bunny" and I must say it's super fun to watch. Tiger himself is hilarious and I relate to him with how I think and act.... I guess it's because we're both "old". Great show tho, I highly recommend it. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
