mincy Posted January 27, 2018 Inuyashiki was awesome, I felt so many feelings for Ichiro, his empathy for others was so heartwarming ; _ ; I also remember being a fan of Gantz back when I read it so the references to it were fun.
baldylox Posted January 28, 2018 EXCUSE YOU MR BALDYLOX, he is a fabulous dramaqueen and I will not hear a word against him. >:C HA HA HA HA! (Also, you gotta admit he was pretty smart. No point getting involved when you get to be a spectator in such a 'great story', although the poor guy probably wishes he could have been a spectator in a better Fate series...) Smart? I dunno. I guess he showed slight glimpses of that on rare occasion..... he DID manage to stay out of almost EVERY fight and do NOTHING to help his team other than tell them all how cool HE was and how nice of a story their actions would be for him to write about. I think he was too self centered and focused on his writing to be of any real use to anyone. BUT..... I gotta admit he WAS quite a snappy dresser. Monty Posted January 28, 2018 -rips off my jacket to reveal I Love Shakespeare tshirt and puts on sunglasses with 'can't see the haters' written across while keeping Shakespeare as team leader in Fate/Grand Order- CANT HEAR YA Anyway Fate/Extra apparently aired last night, but not down here because Fu kuoka hardly ever gets any anime. Apparently Netflix have kidnapped it for western release which means people won't get to see it for months I hate it when that happens. I vastly prefer to watch legal streams (I even use a paid VPN to access the ones that are blocked in Japan) but I hate binge-watching, which is what Netflix's entire model relies on. I also like to actually see stuff as they air. I'm interested to see F/E though, it should be cool to see a SHAFT take on the franchise (I hope. Judging from the key art they went with the male protagonist in the game. Nothing against him but I love the female protagonist's design, she's one of my fave masters in the Fate franchise) *twitter*instagram*art*
baldylox Posted February 4, 2018 So I finally broke down and watched "Made in Abyss". And then I broke down. Literally. To say this show is brutal is an understatement. It's not violent hack and slash blood and guts over the top all the time by any means. Most of the time the show was gorgeous. The backgrounds, the music, it was so amazing. Even the world building had tons of detail in there. But the brutal reality of the situation the characters were put into is what killed me. I won't give anything away but there were two instances that were pretty rough. One of which WAS a bit bloody and cruel. That one sucked and was kind of hard to watch. It's the OTHER time that things got so bad emotionally that I lost it and cried like a baby. The thing that occurred didn't even happen to a main character but because of how that character was introduced, how their background was shown and the interactions of other characters leading up to the event were so well done..... you just couldn't NOT break down. So while it hurt to see those episodes, I'll still have to agree with everyone else that said this was a good series. It leaves room for more and I hope it gets a second season. If you haven't seen this but were thinking of doing so, please do give it a watch. But be warned, you'll get immersed in the characters and you WILL cry. If you don't, I don't think you can be human. sinclair Posted February 5, 2018 I know exactly which scenes you are speaking of. My wife doesn't normally like things that get as bloody as Made in Abyss, but she's the one that wanted to keep watching it. The 2nd of the two you mentioned, when the episode was over we both sat there for a while staring at the screen, trying to recompose ourselves. Those onion cutting ninjas were in force. The one that she's hooked on now that we are watching is The Ancient Magus' Bride. We just started a couple days ago, and are already seen 6+ episodes. She likes to binge watch these things. I try to keep it to one a night and mix in some other shows, but that drives her nuts. So we compromise and binge watch the shows she wants.
Anna-neko Posted February 5, 2018 I am enjoying MMO Junkie, so soooo much! ....even tho am questioning the english title choice, because in japanese it was a bit more upbeat? "Recommendation of the Wonderful Virtual Life" sounds so much more positive!
Sadie89 Posted February 5, 2018 I’d love to watch Made in Abyss, but I’m also not in the right mood for depressing stuff...guess I’ll keep that in my future watchlist. Right now I’m really enjoing CCS:Clear Card (that animation! How I wish we got half of that quality for SM Crystal...) Sanrio Danshi, that is the cutest thing ever seen, and Violette Evergarden. I’m also plannig to watch some of the Pretty Cure series this year, right now I’m at episode 3 of Max Heart and I’m really enjoing the early 2000s vibes
baldylox Posted February 6, 2018 I know exactly which scenes you are speaking of. My wife doesn't normally like things that get as bloody as Made in Abyss, but she's the one that wanted to keep watching it. I didn't actually cry at that one, I cringed a lot and felt really bad about what was going on, especially when the boy finds out he didn't have to do what he did. THAT really stung. The 2nd of the two you mentioned, when the episode was over we both sat there for a while staring at the screen, trying to recompose ourselves. Those onion cutting ninjas were in force. I couldn't hold back at all on that one. I was in tears and blubbering early on. And what really set me off was when "the thing" was about to happen and then it gets called off and then it's on again. It was just not cool to drag me down then give me some glimmer of hope and then stab me in the face. I haven't watched any of the series yet but I did see the 3 OVA episodes. I found those beautiful to look at but they were quite boring in my opinion. I'm praying that the TV series has at least *some* type of story and better action than watching people flip thru books or eat breakfast. And I'm the same as your wife, I much prefer to marathon a series than do pieces and parts. I find I get into the show and characters better that way. I'm also able to watch more series that way too. Sniiksnak Posted February 9, 2018 I just started watching Clear Card. To be honest I really miss the old dubbed voices. These ones are really high, and they all sound the same. I guess I'll just have to mentally dub their voices with their old ones in my head to make do. The animation is beautiful though. Very conscious of the original style. Reminds me of my childhood when the original was my favourite show. At least the dub won't be censored this time 'round too. I'm looking to watch Pop Team Epic, too. All the bits I've seen from it are amazing.
sinclair Posted February 9, 2018 I've seen CCS in both dub and sub. I'll admit that the original dub was good, but now I'm used to the sub as I've seen both movies and the 2nd half all subbed. So I was really really glad that the VAs all came back for this one.
baldylox Posted February 12, 2018 I just finished up the TV series "Two Car" and it was an interesting show. It's about high school girls who race motorcycle sidecars.... not something you see every day. But there's a bit of drama to it due to a love triangle and not just the racing. Overall I found it kinda fun but nothing that stood out from the pack. The other thing I finally got around to watching was the first of the "Godzilla" anime movies. There are 3 of these scheduled to come out and after seeing this one, I can't wait for the others! The style is very CGI and at times it can be a bit distracting but overall it's not terrible. The story was pretty cool but I was in it for Godzilla. I've ALWAYS loved him and have seen all the movies. So to say I'm a fan is an understatement. That being said, I always root for Godzilla to win, no matter what. To heck with the human element, I want my favorite giant lizard to come out on top every time! But this time there was quite a twist waiting for me at the end and I didn't really see it coming even tho there were hints about it. Overall an enjoyable movie for me that leaves me ready for the next! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
DefectiveAngel Posted February 14, 2018 I was injured at work pretty badly so I have had more time to watch anime and stay caught up with the current seasons being aired now. At the moment I'm watching 23 different shows from winter 2018 and 1 extra show to watch in between the winter episodes. This winter season has some awesome shows to keep up with so I'm not complaining one bit. My current list is: A Place Further than the Universe Cardcaptor Sakura:Clear Card Citrus Dagashi Kashi 2nd season Darling in the Franxx Death March to the Parallel World Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens How to Keep a Mummy Junji Ito Collection Karakai Jozu No Takagi san Katana Maidens ~ Toji no Miko Laid-Back Camp Maerchen Maedchen Mitchiri Neko Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles Overlord season 2 Pop Team Epic School Babysitters Slow Start The Ancient Magus' Bride The Ryou's Work is Never Done! Today's Menu for the Emiya Family Working Buddies! And my extra series is Monthly Girls' Nozaki kun Plus I just recently finished Mysterious Girlfriend X, Haganai 1st and 2nd seasons, Oreimo 2nd season, and Lucky Star. Amazing how much I can watch when I don't have work to worry about...lol! Seriously has been the only positive out of hurting my legs so bad. Since I'm almost done with Monthly Girls' Nozaki kun I plan on starting Nanana's Buried Treasure and Your Lie in April.
Tasuke Posted March 28, 2018 just finished "RANMA 1/2; OVA and MOVIES COLLECTION" "YOUR NAME" and "MEGAZONE 23" Pts. I and II. currently giving "GUNDAM WING; ENDLESS WALTZ" another go after a decade-plus, and, after that, all of "TENCHI MUYO!" once more, after at least as many years... sinclair Posted March 28, 2018 Watching all kinds, old and new. Of note is I'm currently sloshing through the Fate series for the 1st time. Right now I've seen UBW, all but the movie of Kaleid Liner Prisma, Grand Order, and am now half way through the old Fate/Stay Night.
cfx Posted March 28, 2018 just finished [...] "MEGAZONE 23" Pts. I and II. Being an old guy I first got into anime in the 1980s, a little before the commercial market existed for it in the US. Macross was one of the first things I saw that I liked, and looking for something else that I thought might be similar led me to Megazone both because it had mechs and because it shared Haruhiko Mikimoto as character designer (for Eve anyway). I liked, and still do, the first part quite a bit. I found the second one really difficult to watch due to the gore and just the idea of how those people were being killed. After the first one it was really a surprise to see that too, but that was the time period when OAV makers went pretty far with that type of thing since they had a newfound freedom to do so, I guess. I never got to see Parts III though.
baldylox Posted March 28, 2018 I'm rewatching "Inuyasha" and I'm amazed that it's aged so well. Sure it seems a bit cliche at times but the characters are just as much fun now as they were years ago and the action is also fun. Plus, now that I have a custom Sesshoumaru doll, it's super cool seeing him in action on screen. He's quite the badass and ever so cool. Gabriel Posted March 28, 2018 I got the Gundam Unicorn Blu Ray collection earlier this month. Maybe I'll eventually get around to watching it. I never did finish watching After War Gundam X several months ago.
Mikuhist Posted March 30, 2018 Right now don't have time to watch the new things. But my favorite is definitely Evangelion and the Fate (and everything else from type moon) universe.
Shailara Posted March 30, 2018 I have stopped watching anime in general, but mechas are my forever love, so I picked up Darling in the Franxx. Besides the blatant sexism, the story seems interesting and the animation is really nice. (\_/) ( ' .' ) ( uu)
Elys Posted April 9, 2018 Watched all of Made in Abyss with a friend in one go, that show has an amazing soundtrack and world. I also love shows with grim stuff in it. Looks can be very deceiving and I wouldn't have picked this one up if it weren't for my friend. To counteract the grimness of Abyss I just might have to continue Koi wa Ameagari no You ni. I love how forward the main character is toward her goofy middle aged love interest. :D 【 DD Crew 】Kano Custom DDH-06 ∙∙∙ 2B ∙∙∙ 9S ∙∙∙ Hatsune Miku NT 【 Other Vinyls 】Zhi Jia Custom Type-M AP ∙∙∙ Debby TinyFox 1/6 ∙∙∙ Wanderer Custom Imomodoll 1/4 【 Instagram 】
Kotone Posted April 16, 2018 I'm rewatching Revolutionary Girl Utena because all that symbolism isn't meant to be understood on the first watch-through. Though unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) it's making me really want to make a doll of Anthy

Kotone Posted April 16, 2018 oh wow she's awesome! I think If (or when) I do one, I might try dyeing the parts so I won't have to hunt down a tan doll. That way I can make her a darker color too. It'll be an experiment

Tasuke Posted April 16, 2018 just came off of the original eight-episode "Bubblegum Crisis" OVA series (1987~1990) again after some years, holds up well, and the soundtrack, while rather Plagiarist, is still nothing short of fabulous, if you're in to 1980's rock and techno...
