How do I remove a faceup?

Recommended Posts

Cazzie_Bliss

Was just wondering how I would remove a faceup. It's been done with acrylic paints but it wasn't sealed with MSC .... I believe it was sealed with ZM Finishing Powder Spray UV-Cut. I don't want to like ... do anything bad D:

I've used Testors thinner to remove faceups from DDs multiple times in the past with no mishaps.

This is a question I'm also very much interested in.

I used to repaint MH and Barbie dolls which are made of vinyl, too, and we usually used acetone for fast and clean faceup removal. Is acetone safe on DD vinyl, too?

Also is there anywhere a tutorial for doing faceups on DD?

Yeah that stuff. I usually get a little bottle from Michael's. They have it in the section for model cars.

I'm not sure about using acetone, I've heard some claims that it can melt some vinyl, so I've never tried it.

Yeah probably not. But I'm not sure if an England-based craft store has that type or not. I don't think the brand matters much either, just that its a paint thinner.

You sure it's not nail polish remover?

I've used acetone free nail polish remover on on a magic eraser to clear face ups. I have done this on 3 dollfie dream heads, stubborn dirt on dollfie dream bodies and 1 obitsu vinyl heads and I have never seen any issues to the vinyl from using this. It has not charged the look, feel or texture of the vinyl at all.

All I do is put some nail polish remover on the eraser, scrub away at the face until all the paint is removed. Once I've removed everything I want to remove, I give it a thorough wash under warm water with dish washing soap to remove any residue of the nail polish remover. Then I give it a final rinse off with just clear, warm water.

Well, it seems you all use basically the same stuff as for removing resin doll faceups?

Well - I went to the Maybelline NY part of the shop but they didn't have any! In the end I went with the own brand and it worked a treat! Only took about 5 minutes. Washed her now - she just gotta dry fully ^w^

Try 91% alchochol with mr.clean erasers [wear gloves]. I use it to remove all my faceups. So far I havent had a problem. I even clean Monster High dolls with it.

At home: Too many....
