Leonia Posted January 1, 2013 Since a year, I adopted my first DD but I'm always not familiar with events related to this hobby. This year (or beginning of 2014) my boyfriend and me have planned to make a travel after our wedding in august. And because we love both Dollfie Dream, we would like to see a Dollpa or other event like it (to buy some clothes, some accessories for our girls hihihi). So I would like to know in which months there are events in Japan if it's possible ! Thanks a lot for your help ! (I hope it's the good section !) Juanita Posted January 1, 2013 There are several Dolpas a year, however they don't take place at the same date every year and they are in different locations. So it's a bit risky to book flights and everything one year before the event, because it might change. Usually there is a Dolpa in December, then there is usually a Dolpa at the beginning to middle of March, then there is one in May/June and another one usually in July/August. Also do not forget that you have to buy the official Dolpa guidebook as an entry ticket if you want to enter the Dolpa. Be prepared to wait and stand in long lines though if you want to try to buy a doll.
DJStarstryker Posted January 2, 2013 Be prepared to wait and stand in long lines though if you want to try to buy a doll. And be aware that you may not get to buy a doll. They have you draw a number when you go. Unless your number is 400 or less, chances of getting a doll is almost zero. Anyway, August typically has a "hometown" Dolpa. This means it won't be in the Tokyo area. Could be Osaka, could be Kyoto, could be other places. They haven't announced where it'll be or what the date is yet, so you'll have to keep your schedule pretty flexible if you want to go. It'll be on a weekend (most likely Sunday) day though. Another suggestion is to also check out the Volks stores. They don't just sell Volks clothes in their stores. They also have consignment items made by other people. You can typically find some nice kimonos and other dresses that are quite unique. Also, some Volks stores have rental cases where people rent these glass display boxes and put stuff up for sale. I've managed to find some old/rare doll stuff in them (as well as other non-doll stuff - these rental cases have no restrictions for type of item sold so they're not always dolls). Are you ready to rock? ^_^
SakuraSylph Posted January 4, 2013 Regarding Dolls Parties, there seem to be about four per year. Tokyo-area (at Tokyo Big Sight) will be April/May and December, while other cities (that have Volks stores) like Kyoto, Kobe, or Sendai will be in March and August typically. The actual date and time for each one is announced 4-6 months in advance of when the event is. In order to enter the Dolpa, you will need to buy that event's Guide Book (2200 yen per person) either from a Volks store in Japan or the online International store before the day of the event. They do not sell guidebooks at the door as far as I can tell. Once a month (when there isn't a Dolpa), you will have a release event for new outfits. These releases are held at every Volks store in Japan, and the details are announced 2-3 months in advance. It's on the calendar in each issue of Volks News... If you want to go to an event, then this is another choice. If you just want to buy clothes and accessories then you can go to any Volks store any day of the week and have fun treasure-hunting. Leonia Posted January 4, 2013 Thank you all for your messages ! If I have the opportunity to participate in a Dollpa with a Dollfie Dreams I would like, maybe I would like to try, but I mainly want to see japanese designers for clothing and accessories We always see super cute products after event (clothes, cosplay costume..) In fact, at the beginning, I wanted to know if I could couple together Dollpa & WonderFestival (I also collect figurines..money..money..money), but it would be only in August (and I do not warmth..). Anyway thank you ! We'll see when we will decide to travel (especially when we can with our work ). If we have the opportunity to be in Japan for a Dollpa, that will be cool, if not, Volks, Mandarake and all other shops offering products DD will be for me ! jadepixel Posted January 8, 2013 Congrats! I went to Japan last year for my honeymoon, though I didn't attend any events, there's plenty of shops to keep you busy. In addition to the Volks events there's I-doll conventions several times a year, as well as doll events organized at Mandarake. These aren't limited to Volks dolls only but they do tend to announce their dates much further in advance. http://www.idollweb.net/ http://www.mandarake.co.jp/information/event/doll/ jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
