Saspen Posted January 2, 2013 Hello Everyone.. ^_^ I'm new into this hobby and I plan on saving my money up and purchasing a DD Yukino doll. Along with a wig cap, extra wig, and a doll wig stopper. However, I needed to ask some questions before I actually buy her. Should I wait awhile before buying an outfit? Also, how do I tell what her size is? And as for other wigs, I also want to know how I can tell her size with that too... And if any of you know a good website for pink or white wigs? ;n; Also, on a side note with the clothes thing, could you link me to a few good sites for those as well? I've been searching all day for DD clothes but..Esty doesn't seem to have much. Thank you for all replies and so forth~ I really have never liked doll's before but..this is a first for me and I plan to make it good. Thanks!
WoundedNight64 Posted January 2, 2013 Hello and welcome to the hobby! As you know Yukino comes with a slip and pair of pantsu. If you don't mind having her in that then you can hold off. If you really want to bring her to life you can buy her an outfit. I don't mean to scare you or anything but be very careful on what you buy. If you plan to keep your girl in an outfit for a while make sure it is pale or she is wearing a bodystocking. Dollfie Dreams stain insanely easily because they're made of vinyl. Another alternative is to have a set of pale clothes that you can dress her in while not doing photoshoots. A DD Yukino is a 1/3 scale doll, so super dollfie clothes might fit. If you're looking on Etsy you could ask the seller if the item will fit a Dollfie Dream and maybe get them to alter it for you. The shops IndiaRoseAtkinson and WillowzCloset both cater to DDs specifically and the clothes look nice. Dorsetclothing has items in that would probably fit a DD. Shops that cater to DDs specifically include; Nightfall Cool Cat Collections DollHeart Volks (They all sell shoes aswell, but a standard 1/3 size will fit. If not you can always make little insoles.) I'm sure there are others, but these are my personal favourites. There are also people on here that sell clothes and on Figure(dot)fm (I highly reccomend joining if you haven't already.) Another website you could look at is DenofAngels(dot)com It is mainly focused at resin dolls but you can find customisers there that also sell DD clothes. Which brings me onto my next topic. You can also commission a seamstress/tailor for a specific outfit you would like. It will undoubtedly set you back a pretty penny but it is so worth it to have an outfit set that is truly unique. There are a lot of tailors out there, it's just a matter of finding someone you like. Now for wigs. I believe that a DD can fit a standard SD size. So 9-10" with a wig cap. Miruya do a lovely selection of wigs that will suit your needs. And you can see what they look like on a DD too. They come in lots of colours as well. Again, you can check on here for links to private sellers. On a side note I recommend buying a stand for your girl at some point. A company called Twin-snow also sell custom eyes that you might be interested in. I'd love to see some pictures of your yukino when you get her. At home; DDH-07 'Medea', Saving for; A body and Saber Lily ^_^ Waiting for:
DivinitaAria Posted January 2, 2013 Her wig size would be 8-9". You can try Leeke World for wigs As for an outfit, I personally, would get an outfit before or when she arrives so she has something to wear, and I also feel there's a better bond when you're able to get her all dressed and see what styles she looks good in. DD clothing may also go by the SD size, but SD sizes dolls are generally thicker. I like outfits from Volks because they will be labeled as DD/SD/SD13 ect. I like to buy clothes second hand or get a set with the doll, so unfortunately I can't be of much help there I hope I was at least some help! Rise - Rise // Rise #2 - Rise // Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) Waiting on: DDH-25 for custom Akechi 🥰
Saspen Posted January 2, 2013 @WoundedNight64 Yeah, of course. I was mostly planning on getting her white clothes. After all, I really don't like black anyhow and depending if her skin is really that pale, I probably wouldn't get it for her anyhow. And I also have done my research on that as well, I plan to just put her back in the slip she comes with after taking photos of her, showing her to my friends and family, etc.. And yes, I did notice WillowzCloset was the best bet. She had she pretty nice necklaces if I remember correctly, I'm more big on the little things which is kind of a bad thing n.n Also, My Mother is very experienced in sewing but..she'd probably get frustrated at sewing tiny doll clothes ^^'' plus, like you mentioned that would really take all of my money. I'm trying to stay in the 500's line and not go above 630$ And infact I did already plan buying a stand for her, that's later on of course for when she has a wide range of different outfits and more importantly where I can put her ;n; As for the eyes, I hear some are hot glued in and that must be a pain to change them, but I was mostly planning on maybe buying purple / a light blue that appears 'blind' or something like that. And I'll probably post a picture of her all done up, but..my camera has been acting up lately >_<'' @DivinitaAria If I even were to buy an outfit, I would most importantly want a full set. meaning that they come with everything in the picture, along with the shoes. And thank you, I assumed she was around that size as well.
DJStarstryker Posted January 3, 2013 Yukino's eyes are hot glued in if you're buying the regular full set. But if you use heat from a hair dryer to loosen up the glue, you can actually just peel the glue off with your fingers. If you put in new eyes, you don't have to hot glue them in if you want to make it easier to change them next time. Volks has something called eye putty, which can hold them in. You can also get earplugs (the silicone moldable kind) to hold the eyes in too. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
Saspen Posted January 3, 2013 @DJStarstryker Alright, thank you~ I'm sure I have a hair dryer laying around here.
jadepixel Posted January 7, 2013 Actually I prefer to go the opposite route for removing glued eyes - put the head in the freezer for 15 minutes. Glue becomes hard and brittle, and you can gently flex the head to pop out the glue and eyes. Then the glue can be pulled off easily. I think CoolCat has the best selection of shoes and outfits specifically for DD: http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/home.phtml For wigs I recommend Leeke: http://www.leekeworld.com/En/default_leeke.asp Although for white wigs you might try ForMyDoll custom shop: http://formydoll.com/index.php jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
