New One-Off Dollfie Dreams

Oh wow, Yumi and Sachiko! Wonder if Volks would consider revisiting these two as DDs someday.

 

Has Volks ever released the numbers for any Dollfie Dream produced? I'd assume there's only a few thousand at most of the LEs.

It would be interesting to know how many limited girls get produced.

I knew I had seen a Chii before but couldn't recall if it was a custom or an actual release. After seeing those pics, I think I saw that one. She's really cute.

 

I also wouldn't mind having some idea of how many of certain characters released as DD's there were made or sold. I think it would be pretty neat to know how many Kanu's, Ryomou's, Rin's, Yoko's etc were made available. Not that it would make much of a difference in obtaining one but it'd still be cool to see if there were only 250 of one or 2500 of another.

 

And I guess numbers for the "regular" ones would be neat too. Over on Figure.fm, you can look thru posts and see loads of one girl and hardly any of another. I know there's plenty of DD owners that don't post on that site out there but seeing who does and what girls show up more often than others *could* give a guesstimate of who is more numerous than others.

My educated guess is that Volks have lifted more recent production runs of DDs significantly to meet the new demand.

In the last Dollpas the only DD to sell out straight away was Sakura Matou and Alna.

All the Osaka Dollpa dollfies were available for regular purchase after the lottery and after the event as were the K-On Dollfies.

So, I am picking for instance, there will be a lot more Saber Lily's produced than Saber or Saber Alters. A guess would be a number between 1,000-5,000 - because honestly I dont think the market is much larger than that.

Production numbers for the new Saber Lily sound spot on for what you said Arrex. Somewhere between 1,000 - 5,000 definitely sounds about right. They will definitely be having more orders this time around as Rochelle at Kerby Lane Doll Shop told me on the phone that thier lottery entries for Saber were HUGE. They have not had this much attention for one lottery or one DD EVER. So she's happy about orders of course but she is also happy that Volks is trying to please the customers by doing the re-release. She had nothing but good things to say about Volks and how they treat Kerby Lane. She says it's a large company yes, but it's still a family business that tries to keep itself humble. And that's always nice to hear.

I just hope the idiots entering just to make a quick buck by listing on ebay or YJ will get burnt. I dont think for instance that the price for Saber Lily goes nuts

Oh, I hope you are right and the scalpers get burnt badly. I hate it when they list stuff on Ebay for stupid amounts.

 

From what I gather, I think Volks will make sure to have a lot of Sabers available for this. Not a mass quantity mind you but a large enuff amount to fill most of the orders if not all of them. Exclusives are exclusive for a reaosn but why limit your funds nowadays when you know if you made 2000 of these, all of them would sell?

 

I guess we'll see what happens soon. I just wish I could afford one....

Ah, Saber Lily... I'd love to get her too, but I figure Saber Extra is inevitable. I wouldn't put it past Volks to release a 'renewal version' of the original Saber either. Isn't the 10th anniversery of Fate/Stay Night coming up in a couple years?

Interesting that Sakura was a fast seller, she certainly doesn't get as much attention as Rin, much less Saber. Add in that Sakura is a villian in her route, makes me wonder if she was lesser produced...

Well, out of all of them, Sakura had the most charming face and those beautiful purple eyes... those could have been her selling points and reason for her selling out so fast.

 

Volks could have also assumed "Well, she's a villianess in one route, so we'll make a small quantity of her because no one likes the villaness!". Then they released her, people saw how cute she was, and bought her up! Heck, I know one person who has one... and I would LOVE to have her, more so than Saber. (Only because Saber's face is a bit meh to me, where Sakura has more personality and charm)

 

The only reason I would want a Saber is for the outfit and accessories she comes with. The doll itself just seems so plain. Then again, I am very critical of Dollfie faces... mainly because I work on them. ^^;

I agree Sakura's face is probably the best so far - although I do like the new Saber face as well.

 

Sakura is also L-Bustoooooo whereas Saber and Rin = M-Bust

Oh, I'm not trying to bash Sakura, I think she's great, as both a Dollfie and a character! Her route through the visual novel, Heaven's Feel, is the best of the three. But she's not as popular as Rin or Saber character-wise, and this carries over to the merchandising. One of the reasons that some F/SN fans say Sakura is less popular is due to her being the primary villianess in her route, and apparently villians don't sell too well in general in Japan. I'm thinking about this from the character merchandising stand point.

If that is true... then I want a "Chu x Chu Idol 2" Dollfie Dream girl! I'm even consideirng buying another DD Head just to have one. ^^; Miyuki doesn't seem to mind... she thinks her Mommy could have done a better job painting her. *sigh* But yeah... if Volks made a "Chu x Chu Idol 2" Dollfie Dream, I would be all over that.

She might be a villain in the game but she looks so lovely...I'm now getting a powerful lust to get one, and the reason why is that she would be a perfect Tohya Miho from Megatokyo. Yes, Miho was a "villain" in Megatokyo originally...but she's starting to evolve. Don't want to spoil the current story arc but just take a look at it and enjoy.

Wow!!! Normal skin Mariko is extremely pretty!! Maybe someday Volks will do a re-release with her like they did with Alna in this different skin tone. If they did I would be in trouble because I would have to have her then. =3

 

Also I love Alna with Yuki's eyes, hmmmmm Volks you are giving me ideas, I may just try this with mine.
