DD2 to DDS clothing comparison

Recommended Posts

Lala Lolita

So I'm wondering how well DD2s fit in DDS clothes, and how well DDSs fit in DD2 clothes. I'm thinking of switching Hakumei to a DDS body, but I use her as my model for making clothes, so I can't switch if they won't fit anymore. Also- do more people want custom outfits for DD2 or DDS now?

I think it all depends on the item of clothing - generally most clothing advertised for DD will fit DDS. I think if you were going from DD to DDDy then you'd have more problems since those bodies have bigger chests and wider hips.

I'm pretty sure that almost all Volks clothing listed for the DDS will also fit the DDII S/M busts. There aren't a ton of outfits especially for the DDS bodies but I'm guessing the sizing won't be off by very much on them, if only in the waist area. The only other thing I can think of would be long pants like slacks or jeans since the DDS legs are a bit shorter than the DDII is.

Overall I don't think there are any major differences in clothing between these two body styles.

The differences actually come with sizing down.

Some stuff for DD-M will fit DDS-L shapely. Also, for some reason the old DD TnK clothes fit DDS extremely well, but you have to have an L-bust sized outfit to fit a DDIII s-bust.

In terms of outfits, I can't think of any slacks or jeans that have come out specifically for the DDS.

So is it worth it? I just feel like I could get a whole new doll for the price of upgrading Kumei.

I'm not a big fan of DDS, the armature still has issues and the height difference isn't significant. I've gotten DD3 or DDS arms to upgrade posing on some of my DD2/DDY gals and that works fine for me. There's not a big difference in clothing fit between them.

You can do that. Reimu and Marisa's outfits fit on a DD2/DD3 up to M-bust. I don't know about anything else since those are the only DDS specific outfits I have.

What? The new DDS bodies are pretty much exactly the same as the new DD3 bodies as far as armature goes. If you put the Coolcat parts on, they're stronger and more posable than a DD2.

AFAIK, it's only the early DDS dolls (Reimu and Marisa) that are really fragile.

I will agree though the height difference isn't huge. It's maybe a few inches. You can only see it when they're standing side-by-side, or if the doll body is naked (DDS bodies are shaped a bit different from DD2 or DD3).

I had trouble with my DDS (made from the improved parts) where the arm peg was totally stuck in the shoulder socket. I carved more notches and sanded it a bit but it would still lock up sometimes. I had the same prob trying different arms, so it seems the inner torso piece or the overall design is at issue.

I'm in a cold climate so maybe few folks have the same issues as me ^_^;

Oh, that. Yeah, that's not just a DDS problem. That's a DDIII thing too. Especially for the right arm, since it's made for sword holding.

Clothes for DD might fit DDS a little differently but they work well anyway.

Millhi's outfit and Mariko's outfit fit DDII well. Millhi's is a little tighter than Mariko's because of the layers.

I'm planning to get an L-bust outfit (the Wild Strawberry set released along with DDS Miki Hoshii) for my M-bust girl. I really love the outfit but do people think that it will be loose I'd love to change the bust but it's extremely hard to get hand on one of the DDII L-bust option part (both USA and JP Volks are out of stocks for ages) and the DDIII bust won't fit on my DDII girl anyway

Oh really i didnt think about that since I spotted the difference between 2 and 3 lower toros so just assumed they are not interchangeable. Guess i'll have to do a bit more investigations but that s off topic here already so thanks for your help anw ^^
