Volks doll stand designed JUST for DD

Recommended Posts

It looks cool and has lots of parts but isn't this like the other one they released a little bit ago that people said were flimsy and cheaply made? I like the idea of this and it seems to have lots of options to hold a girl steady but if it's the same cheap plastic as before, I don't think it will hold up too long.

Someone here on the forums wrote up a review of the other stand and it wasn't a good one.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

The one reason to get those stands are to use for support when posing and taking photographs/etc. But for a permanent solution? Yeah, they won't hold very well.

I have an Obitsu stand just like that and yeah, it can't hold on the doll very well own.

So I don't think the Volks one will be any stronger given that it basically has the same thickness, base size, and mechanism as the one I've got

I was thinking the same thing for photography seems like a nice support but I'm not too comfortable with the look of it to have it for display >.<

Here is a youtube video a fellow member made on the stand.

basically its a pass I guess. I wanted it too but for that price and quality it looks like saber will be sitting down for a while until I find a better stand. lo

Dunno, I love Volks regular stands, the ones with the wooden and metal bases. I prefer them over my CC stands actually.

Thing is, those plastic stands aren't meant to be permanent. You see Japanese people use them during photography / etc.

Personally, I used to only use stands at doll meets to make sure the girls don't fall over or anything while up on the big table/display area. During almost every photoshoot I do, whether at home or outdoors, they stand on their own or are kneeling down, sitting down etc. But now that I have more girls, room for them to sit on DD sized furniture is at a premium and I have to have 3 or 4 of them standing up in order for them to fit across my dressers. I only have 4 stands, all of which are the Cool Cats thigh style. I love them and very rarely have any problems with them at all. I do have one of their larger based ones with the square bottom while the other 3 are the small rounded ones. But the square one is generally used if Saber is out in her default setup as she needs more footroom in her armor. Otherwise my girls are sitting on chairs/couches and don't need stands.

As for the new one shown here, it looks like it would be cool for action oriented poses and such. I'm just not convinced it's sturdy enuff to hold up to Saber and her huge sword for extended periods of moving around in different poses. I wouldn't mind trying one out but for that price, if it sucks, I'd be a little put out by it.

I'm a big fan of the Volks stands, but their metal ones with the metal bases. The wood bases are okay as well but the metal ones are more discreet.

The plastic stands are not good. I wouldn't buy one. Archangeli's review on it says it all.

I wish Coolcat would bring back the double stand... ;_;

Yeah, just buy the Volks metal or wood bottomed ones. The plastic one isn't made to be a permanent stand. It's really just to support poses.

I have a bunch of the obitsu stands and they work great for me. Really not sure what other people are doing with theirs. O.o They're not very secure when lifting your doll in the air but allows you to do loads of poses and then you can disassemble it and customise to whatever way you want it. You can can have it go straight up without any of the movable joint parts. I heard of someone's snapping at the base but that was cause they turned the screw too much so it cracked the plastic.

My girls below using the obitsu stand;

Beato with her "furniture", Evie (both using the stand)

If not doing any crazy poses then I can't see any way they'd fall over and seem as secure as other stands.
