Guessing from volks Mirai and Candy MDD product information, where it says "MDD Mirai & Candy original head", I would believe the molds are different from the DD counterparts.

They might look very similar, but MDD heads tend to be, atleast by personal experience, a little smaller than normal DD heads, atleast my Maria and Illya heads look a bit odd on DD bodies.

Mitsuki would know for certain but I'm almost 100% sure that the MDD and DD Mirai and Candy heads are exactly the same and are not different sizes or styles. All DD heads will fit an MDD body but not all of them look perfect due to shape and size. 01 heads work well because they are more rounded and childlike where the 02 heads are more slender and tall and don't look as young or childlike. This is of course to each persons taste tho as I thought my Rei on an MDD body was actually kinda cute.

But for head sizes, all the ones that come on DD's will fit an MDD body and vice versa, there are no specific MDD or DD heads, it's just a matter of what you think looks best on them.

They're actually different head molds.

DD Mirai/Candy heads don't have a number; MDD Mirai/Candy is #21.

I think they are different. Volks also made distinct versions of their animetic B type eyes for MDD Mirai and Candy.

Okay, just to be clear on my part, I only meant that the two heads of Candy/Mirai are the same on the DD bodies as on the MDD bodies. I didn't mean that the Candy and Mirai are the SAME head as I don't think they are. The original question asked if the DD Mirai head and the MDD Mirai head are the same and I'm pretty sure they are, same with the Candy MDD/DD girls.

So is what you guys are saying the same as what I am or am I reading it wrong?

Id make a guess that we are saying opposites.

the MDD and DD molds are different in our oppinnion, while Candy and Mirai do share the same mold in either version (though im not 100% about the DD side, since volks doesent specify the head in the product info anymore)

The other difference with character MDD heads, versus standard heads that came to mind was the recess where the neckpiece of the bust goes into, and this is a little smaller on Character heads on MDD's because of the slimmer neck on the body. This causes a bit of a giraffe syndrome when put onto a DD body:

But can only speak for these two.

We're saying the reverse.

DD Candy head = DD Mirai head (both heads are without a number).

MDD Candy head = MDD Mirai head (both are numbered #21, the same way Saber & Saber Alter are both numbered #25). Volks even confirms they are the same head -- both are described as the "MDD Mirai & Candy" Original head on the Japanese website.

But DD Candy is NOT MDD Candy, & DD Mirai is NOT MDD Mirai.

Okay, thanks for the explanation. I really didn't think they made different sized Candy/Mirai heads for their DD/Mdd releases. I'd love to see the MDD and DD versions of one of these girls side by side to see the size differences.

As someone else showed above, I know specific MDD girls like Louise and Maria have smaller heads than most DD's because they were scaled to the MDD bodies.

Very interesting that they would do this.

haha I probably only made a point that MDD Mirai is different from DD Mirai because I would love a MDD Mirai complete with those different B-type eyes. Sorry to make trouble and add to the confusion. Mirai was the first DD I ever saw, so I am biased.

I don't have and have never seen an MDD in person, but had often wondered if the heads were the same size as regular DDs. I have never a different specification for wig or eye sizes, so I did not think there would be.

Interesting thread.
