SisterKyoya Posted January 11, 2013 Since it was requested, I thought I'd make a thread for people to show off the various mods they have done to make DD/MDD boys. This is posted in the Photos section rather than the Customization section because there wasn't the NSFW tag. If this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it. ~~~~~ Required: * Picture (at least one)* Body or body part info (please list the specific model for all parts used including Volks) * Explanation on how the mod was accomplished Helpful but not required: * Overall thoughts on the process* Alternate suggestions for future mods ~~~~~ Volks 03 head on Obitsu 45cm boy body (no body mod) Chest piece only from Obitsu 45cm boy body on MDDII body (doesn't really look any different from the sanded S bust he had been using with the shirt on) Chest piece only from Obitsu 45cm boy body on MDDII body The chest piece is on top of the Volks internal frame, lower torso is still the Volks piece. The part that is going straight across is the hard cover for the internal frame. How the mod was done: Just a simple bust swap between the two vinyl chest pieces, no cutting and no alterations to the internal frame. The Obitsu bust is somewhat wider at the shoulders so it pushes against the arm and makes them wiggle out a little over time but just pushing it back in fixes it. This was very easy to do but it did take some work getting the Volks S bust off the internal frame because it was so snug. A hair dryer helps make this much easier. I have long term plans on personally seeing how all the Obitsu busts work with the DD/MDD bodies. It is really hard to know what ones will work and if any of them would need additional mods or whatnot to look fine. Eventually I plan on seeing what the Obitsu 45 bust looks like on the MDDIII body because I don't think the internal frame has the hard case over it. I am still undecided if that would be a benefit or a drawback. Please feel free to post comments, suggestion, or admiration of the growing "DD Dudes" fan base! ~Sister Kyoya P.S. If anyone is wondering what happened to the Obitsu Body and the sanded S bust... it became Rainie's body. The bust piece doesn't fit too well on the Obitsu frame and I had to take off the neck piece so the bust would go on. There is still a lump on her back between the shoulders where the internal frame pushes back, but not normally noticable. Her head stays on because it is attached very tightly with elastic. So does that make her a strung vinyl doll? Yukamina Posted January 11, 2013 Thanks for putting this together! I'm hoping to make a hybrid boy too :3 He's a girly boy, so hopefully it won't be too difficult. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
SisterKyoya Posted January 11, 2013 If it wasn't obvious by now, I totally love being a DD boy enabler/encourager. The regular DD are wonderful, but can you imagine what anime and manga would be like if the girl vs. boy ratios were the same as the DD universe? Samurai Shamploo would have been a snore fest, Save Me Lollipop would have been creepy, D Gray Man may have been nonexistent, Soul Eater actually would be really funny (Prof Stein as a girl? Soul and Blackstar as a yuri couple would just be too much (Yes I know that's not how it goes, but I've got my ship and I'll sail it if I want to!) ), and my beloved Ouran High School Host Club would just be unthinkable. So knowing how to mod the DD into the best boys we can is definitely something I think a lot about. I vaguely thought about doing a post like this a few months ago but it didn't even seem like there was really any interest for it at that point. And if nothing else, I know how much fun I've had with Tamayuki. Its so awesome having such an adorable little boy (who still looks like a pixie to me) around who is always so happy to spend time with me. I always like boy cats better too because our personalities work out better, girl cats are kinda snotty. (The rationalization of that works in my head of how boy DD are like male cats.) ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ozaki Posted January 15, 2013 I'm glad to see more DD boys ^^ I think he looks very cute as a boy... He might need a "manlier" face-up and wig (lower the eyebrows and stuff). Good job!
SisterKyoya Posted January 15, 2013 I'm glad to see more DD boys ^^ I think he looks very cute as a boy... He might need a "manlier" face-up and wig (lower the eyebrows and stuff). Good job! That might be true if he was intended to be somewhat older. Tamayuki is supposed to look like a younger (bishi-ish) pixie boy, and being manly is not really his strongest attribute. His eyebrows are really high because it counteracts the sadness of the 03 sculpt, and because he's always really curious about everything. With the 05 and 07 heads being released it will be interesting to see how mature of a look can be managed by the Volks heads. Even those though I think will still not be the "Manly men" type just because of the lack of a good jaw. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ozaki Posted January 16, 2013 Ah I see. I know nothing of his character but the way you describe him makes perfect sense. Yes, he looks like a really young bishi boy ^^
