vinyl from DDs and light

Recommended Posts

would sun light cause damage to the vinyl DDs are made of? How about light from light bulbs, suppose I have one sitting on a computer desk near the desk light, would that cause damage to the vinyl as well?

UV rays over a long period of time can damage the vinyl (but UV rays will damage anything when exposed to the sun for a long long time) and might fade the faceup (we're talking a very very long time of exposure).

Light from light-bulbs, probably not.

Excessive heat from very hot bulbs, possibly.

I've never heard of regular lights harming DDs but UV light and even just time does cause DDs to turn yellow. It's a myth that DDs don't yellow like resin.

DD's don't yellow the way resin does. But since they are plastic there is some precautions that need to be taken to keep them nice. Plastic as it ages and is exposed to different chemicals will start to shift colour, but most dolls will not yellow. The only DD that I've seen sucbleepb to yellowing is DD Nia, and I've seen a few that have had this happen to them, but it's not an even yellowing (unlike resin) so I'm not sure its caused by the environment they're in.

I haven't heard of many WS's yellowing so when you said the new saber I was curious of the location and severity.

could it be due to the lighting those sellers used when taking pictures of the dolls?

i got my alter v2 from yahoo jp months ago,not remembering coming across entries of yellowed alter v2....however i have heard of some friends complaining about their alter v1 turning a little yellowish recently.
