That's good to know if I decide to take the plunge to get a MDD (thinking about it) and track down that outfit.

I have that set. I've kept it on my girl for about a week at a time and no problems. I'd say it's pretty safe. (I'll add the disclaimer though, where I live it's very dry so different humidity may affect clothes differently.)

I tested the bikini on a spare M bust for 24 hrs and had only one stain at the back of the neck (where the bow is sewn on).

 

Thought it'd be safe to wear to a doll meet today, put a piece of clear tape to protect the neck. Total of 16 hours of wear and there are red spots on the nipple, bust AND the red ribbon stained where the tape didn't protect.

The Dressy Alice set's black ribbons will probably stain your girl.

 

I was applying no-fray to the ribbons on her arm bands and leggings when this happened. They dye appeared to be stuck to the no-fray glue.

It peeled right off no prob. Better me than my girl.

 

No Fray or Fray check is glue used to seal fabrics that are prone to fraying (like ribbon). Since the ribbons volks sent on this set and on the hat of the Pastry Chef set were fraying, I decided to apply it to the unsealed tips of the ribbon. I had no trouble with that set. However, the dye rubbed out onto my skin from the Dressy Alice almost right away and some of the ribbons are showing small white patche. The No Fray did not remove any color from the pink ribbons of the Pastry Chef set, nor from the hat of the Strawberry Milk Set nor any other black ribbon I've ever used it on. I should say I've used it on six different black ribbons and at least 20 other fabrics with no problem. Therefore, I can only conclude that the dye in the Dressy Alice set's ribbons is particularly prone to "leaking off" the ribbon. It makes me concerned that it'd be more likely to stain then normal ribbon.

 

The white spots don't bother me as I can just paint then black. If it's going to leak off, I'd rather have it off now then find it on my girl. What's weird is that it's only two of the ribbons that got white patches. So the other two were totally fine.

 

Edit: I am happy to report that the "white patches" I saw were just excess No Fray. When I removed it with some rubbing alcohol this morning the ribbons were beautiful black again. However, I still stand by my statement that the dye came off easily but luckily it didn't totally leech off parts of the ribbon like I feared. The tips of the ribbons are still sealed and they look perfect. I'm glad I did it because one of them was already starting to fray out of the box. Volks really ought to seal those better.

I have the Pink Balloon Dress Set and had Seraphina wearing them (without being washed) for weeks and they left no marks on her whatsoever. Of course to be on the safe side you could always wash them first. I've noticed a few instances in this thread where one person will have had no problems with a set while another person has had problems so it's always good to do your own testing of a piece of clothing as well

NekoSan22 white clothes should not stain your dollfie. I have a white shirt and white skirt on a DDS and they did not stain my girl.

White clothes cannot stain your doll since white dye doesn't exist(white isn't a colour in that context). But white clothes may have been subjected to bleach to get the whiteness that was needed(and also this is a cheap option). Volks doesn't use bleach in their clothes(there's no need for them to do that), but I've heard of some Taobao sellers clothes affecting dolls because of the bleach chemicals in the fabrics.

 

But volks sometimes uses black stitches for details on white clothes and these stains. >_>

The black underskirt of the Earmuffs Nordic Dress Set can stain. I had KOS-MOS in it for about 24 hours. The black collar and the tie-up bit on the overdress were fine. However, the part of the black skirt that is not white-lined touched her thighs when I wrapped her up for a doll meet and left some marks on her. Why Volks didn't bother to make the lining longer is beyond me

I'm back to report on Momo's outfit. My whiteskin girl wore it for over a month with a body stocking under the tights, and she has no stains. So it appears that with a body stocking, DDs are safe even from the red shoes and dark tights ^^

I had the White Rider leather jumpsuit on a dddy (so it was tighter, which should have caused a stain if it were going to) for awhile and had no issues.

I have two of those exact outfits and neither of them have stained my girls whenever I had them wear them. Your girl should be just fine.

Do you have any outfits with stockings, such as black fishnet? They're not necessary to complete the outfit but it would be nice to have the option.

 

I know I sound paranoid about staining, but buying a replacement body would be too expensive right now considering I just bought a laptop and might win Mariko (completely worth it). I could live with stains but it would be really disappointing. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful to a newbie like me ^_^

Oh, yeah I understand. No one likes stains, trust me! I bought the school uniform based on the movie Sucker Punch and it included black knee socks but they didn't stain. They weren't fishnets though.

Do mohair or fake fur wigs stain? I prefer fake if possible. I think I read somewhere that they might stain, but since I can't remember where, I don't know how credible it was.

 

The wigs I want so far are light blonde, golden blonde, and bright red. The two blonde ones will touch the face a little.

 

I'm struggling with whether I want to go all fur wigs or all fiber wigs for my OC girls, or if it would look ok to mix it up between different girls. hmm
