Pupi Posted June 6, 2011 We are all talking about music but there isn't a topic only for it! What is your favourite kind of music? Your favourite singer? Your favourite band? and your fave guitarist/drummer/bassist/etc? What is your favourite song? And what kind of music your girls love?^^ I'm totally in love with Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment: i love them melodies... My favourite song ever is "In the Presence of Enemies Part 1 (Chaos in Motion Live)". My favourite kind of music is rock: my father teached me everything about 70' and 80' hard n' heavy and now i'm listening all the new and old groups like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Heavend and Hell, W.A.S.P., Motley Crue, Ratt, Van Halen, Foo Fighters (I will go to a live in Milan in the 15th of this month**), Shinedown and a lot more like these ones >< My favourite guitarist is Jeff Beck! Latooni Loves rock and 70's pop; her favourite song is "Life on Mars" by David Bowie, a beautiful song with a very sweet melody. Her favourite guitarist is Angus Young (even if she have Zakk Wylde's guitar XD)! Alna likes rock and 80's glam, her favourite singer is Blackie Lawles from W.A.S.P. and she love the songs "Sleeping in the Fire" by W.A.S.P., "Dream on" by Aerosmith and "Still loving you" by Scorpions! enthusiast pasta girl - she/her - power bi Mini Mode Lab

OtakuDepot Posted June 7, 2011 I have a rather wide/strange interest in music. I love so many different types I confuse myself at times. I spent most of my teens really into Rock/Metal. I am a guitarist and so I really loved anything where the guitar was featured. Clapton, Page, Hendrix, Satriani, Vai, Al Di Meola, Metallica, FRANK ZAPPA. ZAPPA is all in caps because he is a pure musical genius and deserves it. In college I studied music and really got into more Jazz. I loved listening to Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong... I also love the old crooners like Sanatra, Tony Bennett, or Nat King Cole. I hd a CD of the Doc Severinsen Band I just about wore out. I had a very loud 1200 watt custom sound system in my car at the time and I used to love letting that blare as I drove around!! The strange looks I would get as people realized it was big band music, not rap, that shook their windows as I drove by was great. I'm also a big fan of folk music, bluegrass, zydeco.... I've recently started listening to electronica, post rock, house, techno.... I also enjoy classical and opera but don't seem to listen to it as much as I used to. Over the last few years I listen to a lot of JPOP or other types of Japanese music. I love the Japanese punk band called The Blue Hearts. I mentioned Sambomaster before and I love Askian Kung Fu Generation, Zone, Yui..... I can't forget to mention Jonathan Coulton (http://www.jonathancoulton.com/) who is just fantastic. He's an independent artist who is a true geek at heart. Remember the cool songs from the game Portal "Still Alive" and "Want You Gone"? Those are his. Still Alive: Want You Gone: He has many albums you can get and they aren't all in this style. You have to check out his fantastic version of Baby Got Back: I could keep going on but I'll leave it with one last artist I love: Bjork! She's just pure win. PrettyCranium Posted June 7, 2011 Bowie, Bowie, Bowie. David Bowie is one of my obsessions, I collect his albums and various other memorabilia. At last count, I had over 260 recordings. Before I got into DDs, most of my money went to Mr. D.B. Latooni has great taste, "Life on Mars" is one of my favorites too. My username, "PrettyCranium," comes from the DB song "1984." Other than DB, The Police and Sting, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd and other 70s and 80s rock.

OtakuDepot Posted June 8, 2011 Duke Ellington Mood Indigo = Gotta love the Duke! My favorite of his may be "Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me". I can't believe I forgot this but if you haven't seen it I think it's a must. It's a collection of artists around the world playing the classic song "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King and being mixed into a single recording. This is really a beautiful thing to hear how they meld all these different artists and styles of music into one song. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside and makes you think there just may be some hope for humanity after all Otaku Depot's growing family. “Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.” ― Terry Pratchett, Jingo
AntElitist Posted June 8, 2011 Dream theater is God. But I don't really listen to them much now as my mood for music varies each different season. Currently listening to classical songs like Dear hearts and gentle people and jazz.
OtakuDepot Posted June 8, 2011 Dream theater is God. But I don't really listen to them much now as my mood for music varies each different season. Currently listening to classical songs like Dear hearts and gentle people and jazz. Bing Crosby!!!! Nice. I love that stuff as well. I have a great Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong CD. It's so cheesy and great - at the same time. OtakuDepot Posted June 8, 2011 I am having a lot of fun looking at all of OtakuDepot's links and then going off on a David Bowie tangent. I went to see him in concert many many years ago. I'm glad you like the links. Sometimes I worry I'm posting too must stuff but I think it's so much easier to be able to listen to something when talking about music. So, why not post another link. hehe This isn't anybody famous, he's a YouTube guitar player and as far as I'm aware doesn't make any money via music, he just plays for the love of it. He's a Japanese player who goes by the name of Natsubayashi. The sound quality isn't always great but his emotion comes through in the songs he plays. Here he is playing the song "Karumi" by Mr. Children: I think we can at least all agree that the name Mr. Children is just about the best possible name ever for a band Such a silly name but they have some great music. Lizik-chan Posted June 9, 2011 OtakuDepot your music links are always amazing. I've already vasten my music collection and knowledge with them a bit. Thanks a lot And hello to everybody stuck in 70's and 80's. I'm huge Pink Floyd and David Bowie fan. As well as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane and man-many others... Last years I’m listening to more industrial and sometimes EBM music. Really was hooked into this after visiting KMFDM and NIN concerts in St.Petersburg. I don’t have any stable music preferences. This week I was feeling like listening to indie most but yesterday my hubby found amazing folk metal band Eluveitie and now I’m all growl and metal ))) Besides I have a buzz-bug for outstanding female vocals. I really enjoy Cindy Lauper and Kate Bush from the one hand and Diamanda Galas and Angela Gossow (amazing female growl in Archenemy) from th other… It’s so nice to have many “hard lovers” of hard music here

I really enjoy Cindy Lauper and Kate Bush from the one hand and Diamanda Galas and Angela Gossow (amazing female growl in Archenemy) from th other… I'm glad you like my links I also love good vocalists that are a bit different. I tend to like ones that aren't too perfect. By that I mean ones that aren't afraid to let their voice distort a bit and really get into the song. A great example is Bjork - here she is doing an acoustic version of "Big Time Sensuality": I can listen to her stuff all day long. Or her song "Oh, So, Quiet" : (FANTASTIC!) Another singer I love who has a fantastic voice is Faith Prince. Unfortunately I'm only familiar with her from the 90's version of the Guys and Dolls musical which is just about perfect. Here she is with Nathan Lane singing "Sue Me" Love this song: Yea, I'm not ashamed to say I love musicals.
