My male OC El. WIP [SmD Enji Update 09/11/2015]

This is my WIP thread for my male Oc El.

 

Name: El – Age 25

Wig: Blue fiber with "fire" hair at back.FINISHED

Head: Smart doll Enji head

FaceUp: Me or commission.

Eyes: Normal blue / Black Sclera and Red. Ersa Flora, bought. may need work to fit new head.

Body: Smart doll male body

Mods: Scaring on face and body Need to mod??

Do you have any pics or drawings for the type of head you want him to have? It's really hard to know what to recommend without any idea of what you are hoping for. Does it need to be Volks, or would SQ Labs and Obitsu work too?

 

The more images the better if you still need help in the figuring out stages.

For scars, I once found a swedish tutorial that added layers of glue(I think is was normal non-toxic hobbyglue, the one schools use)with a toothpick on the body until she got the "scar" look she wanted and then painted it after it had dried to match the colours of the doll. This was for a resin doll but I think it should work for vinyls too. Else you can do the anime styled scars if you want(darker painted lines to look like scars).

 

For wig extensions, I think they work similar to human wigs so maybe you can try and google how to attach wig extensions on normal wigs for some help?

For the basic eye shape in a Volks head, I think the 07 is really the closest bet, even the mouth is about what you want as well. I made a thread about 365 degree blank sculpt views that has the link to the 07 animated GIF if you are interested.

If you want the scar to be a mod, I'd suggest using Fimo/Sculpey for the texture. A few people have had success with baking it on with ears, something I'm still planning on doing with Bree within the next few months. (I finally have time!)

 

As for the wig, if you are interested in making one yourself, I'd suggest browsing through the Doctored Locks YouTube channel. You have to sort through a slew of vids about making fake dreadlocks... That is really interesting if your DD needs dreads, but tedious otherwise. I have plans on seeing if I can make my own DD wigs this summer but I have yet to make an attempt at it. With Bree wanting sherbert colored hair and Lucas' hairstyle being very unique, wig making is something I have to at least make a really good attempt at learning. I'd say it should be easy enough to make and attach the extensions to the wig even though the fibers can't be folded in half. Doing a slight variation on the no sew wefts should work fine, but I'm wondering if a different glue would be better.

 

 

I realized that the hair fibers should be blended/shuffled some too unless you want the line where the color changes to be a hard color transition. It wouldn't look as natural that way and wouldn't match the gradient of your drawing. Sorry, I'm not trying to be so geeky, I just find it really fascinating. I have been itching for a long time to find out if I'd enjoy making wigs. Even Rainie's hair is a simple style but the color is still wrong and needs to be slightly more red/orange and not a dark blond. I wish I could be more help than that at the moment.

Cool thank you for the links! I do think my walnut is really cringing now XD. I have a head here so I will upload a image to this thread. It's the obitsu head but from your 360gif I think it probably will be the 07. Now just to find one with no face up haha.

Yeah, Esra Flora's a good bet - you can also go to Pupa Paradise and possibly get some of their D eye Y bases to print your own eyes.

 

Also, I don't know if you're interested in glass eyes in DD's, but Captured in Glass has some affordable eyes with black "whites" of the eyes.

[update 9/4/14] I have been looking about and I think this head my be good. SQ22 Unpainted head kit "Silvia" . I still don't know about him but aany help is welcome.
