Wow, I'm really surprised that there is a girl released that I love everything about her. "Old west Cowgirl in Candyland" style is so completely me that its scary. I really wasn't sure what I thought of Lucy's sculpt, even though I've looked at it from time to time. Of course my mind couldn't let it alone and finally remembered that I originally wanted a mousy/insecure girl to be my Victorian Lady's handmaiden. Lucy and Kos-Mos both being the new skin color is just too perfect.

This Lucy is truly my first complete limited unicorn. I can't even pretend to have a shot at her when she is released, and I have no idea when I could afford her even after that. She's also the first Limited I've seen that I'd be happy to keep her in her default, even her hair and wig! That doesn't mean I wouldn't change her eventually. What size bust is she? It would be a lot of fun having a DDS and an MDD body for her too so she could shrink & grow. Magical girls have odd powers like that.

I'm SO happy I was right about the eyes. I've been interested in the fact I've seen more and more of the animetic eyes being listed as sold out instead of "will be restocked."

Those green J type eyes... This may be the first time I'm actually tempted to get new eyes for a currently finished DD. I love Naiomi's green eyes, but I've never been entirely sure that the style right for her. The K type would also be fun to try. I really love the better greens both of those styles have.

Same here! In the end I might just be happy with her outfit. If I'm going to go with a fullset it's got to be a character I truly enjoy and know about. Too bad all the current animes that I enjoy probably won't have a DD made b/c there's not enough fanservice in the show in general... (for example.. could totally see them making Black Rabbit from "Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they?" but prolly not seeing a gal from Nichijou or Shin Sekai Yori... XD)

 

Was 2Heart really *that* popular? They are re-releasing the uniform.. and to me it's kind of blah... I'd rather see a re-release of Evangelion's school uniform or even just a standard schoolgirl outfit. Maybe Volks had some overstock they found somewhere... XD

The series itself is pretty popular, yeah. Especially Tamaki. There's tons of figures out there of her. As far as DDs go, Sasara and Tamaki seem the most popular. I don't know how popular the others are.

I have never seen anything To Heart myself. The school uniform is very close to Lucky Star IMO.

 

I actually would love to see Black Rabbit as a DD, but that is another topic. I don't see her as fanservice. The show is not what it appears to be.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that's reverse to how licensing usually works. Normally Volks would pay the IP owner for the right to make and sell the dolls.

SchroedingersCat I was thinking the same about the license thing ^ ^;;; And it's probably why the collaborations cost so much more than the standards.

 

I'm guessing the reason they release "the same thing over and over" is because they don't care what's available in the second hand market because they probably know the prices are ridiculous. So now, someone who wants Lucy for her sculpt (or maybe her new outfit or both) can get her for less and brand new instead for more and used, and with a new skin color to top it off. They know there'll be way more than enough people trying to get her (either because they want her or to sell her later), so they don't really care that her previous version came not so long ago.

I don't mind more Shining series girls. I loves most of them! Still need to hunt down Sakuya and Neris though. :/

Sometimes it's to both put out something cool and make a ton of money doing it, like the Sabers preorder project.

 

But in Lucy's case, I think Zoukei-Mura's sculptors could only make so many new doll heads in between the figures and other sculpting work, so with two Dolpas back to back, at least one re-release was all but inevitable to lighten the workload. It's probably a lot harder to make a new doll head than it is to make new clothes.

SK, is there any way you can get her in the lottery instead of aftermarket? The one thing that is for sure is that her price would go up. You have KOS MOS on pre-order . . . if you like Lucy more, could you cancel KOS MOS for example?

If I canceled Kos-Mos now, I'd be pema-banned from Volks International, I wouldn't be a happy camper because Lucy will be Kos's sidekick, and financially it wouldn't work out either. Mentally I'm just expecting that I'll have to fork out 3 times her current cost to get her. That really sounds worse than it is. Most of the time in my head I'm trying to remind myself that she is a long term project (may take me a year and a half) but the little girl side of me keeps acting up and just wants the pretty dolly. New pics and looking at her webpage didn't help that at all either. Even getting her in pieces wouldn't bother me, and may actually be better because the character I wanted her for was intended to be a DDS. (Dang you Volks, why can't you have a girl in between the DDS & MDD sizes!!!) I just need to get the internal little kid to sit down and shut up.

 

Lucy has been added to my unicorn list, and my 'Base 13' list (project ideas), but I really want to get my current kids done. Only 4 (complete with their own bodies) are done out of the 10 heads I have/buying so I don't have a shortage in things to work on.

SK, were you wanting this Lucy in semi-white or just the Lucy sculpt since if its the regular WS Lucy, I've seen lots of her on Mandarake for a decent price.

I actually like that she is the same skin color as Kos-Mos, and yet I really have no idea what difference that makes. I know for me Yuriko and Naiomi (bot WS) are hard for me to photograph because their skin washes out so easily. Also for the current Lucy, I want all of her stuff and finding her fullset might be a bit easier instead of having to hunt everywhere to get it all. Even for me I get tired of constantly having every project long and drawn out. Even Kos-Mos arriving as a complete girl is a bit boggling to me.

I like the semi-white skin. Technically, it would fit my custom doll more than normal skin, since she's supposed to be a naturally pale redhead (and white skin was too pale I thought!). But the problem is her head does not have a semi-white option right now. I'm using the DDH-07 pre-paint version.
