Beato with a new camera

I got Beato a Pentax K-r from eBay, and like any new camera, we had to mess around with it, even it it was just in the house.

I also did a little mod to the Pentax. Since I wasn't planning on mounting it on top of my real camera, I took the little hotshoe adapter off, and realized that the hole on the bottom was almost right for a real tripod. I filed the hole a bit bigger, and sure enough, it screws right in.

I used a little $1 bendy tripod I had around here. It's pretty undersized for DD use, but it shows the point. I've seen some that are similar sized but extend like a real tripod, they should be just right for DD scale, I've seen some on Amazon for around $8, but I'll wait and see if they still have some at Daiso (Japanese $1.50 store) next time I'm over in San Francisco.

Your Beatrice looks like a the club president of a highschool photography club, thehe. It's cool that she gets a real photogear from you.

Looks like she is having fun with the new camera; I liked that last shot of her, its a nice angle.

Oh man, your Beatrice is too adorable in that wig! So cute!

 

Her outfit is great too, very well done.

As for the high school look, I like to think she's doing it to mess with somebody, just like in Umineko itself. You can't really see it in the pictures, but the tall boots from the Beato uniform give it a slightly equestrian vibe, too, like maybe she's about to ride steeplechase.

It was a new camera, so unfortunately there was no card in it!

Haha, maybe she's a crime scene photographer... who makes her own subjects? Or maybe she just wants to memorialize all her witch antics, I mean it might be kinda hard to remember everything after centuries, especially since she seems prone to memory wipes.

Beato looks lovely in a high school uniform. She is a beautiful blond. That little camera is so cool.

Wow, she looks very different in that wig and outfit. You'd never guess she was an evil witch. Of course that's probably the goal.

I didn't really have much of a goal with the outfit actually, it was just kind of putting some stuff on that looked good, and then my GF made me a skirt and thigh-highs to go with it, since I needed something for her to wear that wouldn't stain like her uniform did. The wig was kind of an accident as well, my GF had bought it at Volks, but it looked awful on all of her DDs (an 01, 02, and 03), so it'd been packed away, and we only tried it on Beato since we were trying all the other wigs.

 

The cameras are cheap and easy to get if anybody wants them, by the way. Search for "Takara Pentax" on eBay and you'll find tons, they average between $10 and $15 shipped. (The neon colors are cheaper, the more "normal" colors like black, silver, and white go for a couple bucks more.)

Nice get for the camera, and i think you did a grear job at Beato's wig and outfit choice, gives her a younger look.

I have two of these and considering how much cheaper they are than the $100+ Canon version they are perfect. Plus being a Nikon shooter myself, I can't let my girls shoot Canon. (just kidding!!!)

Yeah, either chimping or shooting Live View. I wish they had better wrist articulation, maybe if the hand attached to the joint with a peg, so it could rotate, it'd be easier to pose them properly. I could also try the "secret" elbow joint, but I'm kinda iffy about using it.

 

I'm in the same boat as a Nikon shooter. I'd actually be OK with a Canon or Sony, but not at over $100 a piece. I should've ordered one of the Olympuses while Dollfie World had them for $35, but I (wrongly) thought I could find them cheaper somehow. Canon's always been much better when it comes to brand merchandise, aside from stuff like the 5D flash drives, they have all kinds of cool accessories, and their pro services members get tons of stuff, like Canon-branded Think Tank bags, CPS straps and lens caps, and so on. Meanwhile, you can't even find a decent Nikon hat or shirt unless you go to their hunting optics branch, and then you better be into camouflage.

I feel your pain there. I've had to learn this less on a few times now. So many times I've waited for a better price and found I missed it completely. For regular products you can get at any store, that works fine, but for DD related stuff (or anime, manga, PVC figures, resin models....) just get it when you see it. hehe

I was at first too but now that I got them to come out, I love it! Mine were all a real pain to get loose tho. Mitsuki kept telling me to just pull hard on the joint and it would pop out. But I swear I pulled with all my strength and nothing would happen. I finally got a heat gun and warmed up the elbow area. THAT finally got them loose enuff to pop out. So a hair dryer would also work well. Once that area was warm, they slid out with minimal effort.

 

So give it a try at least once. Having the extra range is really cool.
