WoundedNight64 Posted February 11, 2013 Is it possible to mod elf ears onto a DD using epoxie without damaging a pre-existing faceup? Is there any way to do it permanently without damaging the faceup? Any help is much appreciated. SisterKyoya Posted February 11, 2013 Take a look at the Elven Haruhi thread, but more specifically at Mitsuki's post. This is done using a polymer clay and baked on the head. I also have the supplies to do this as well as the head, but I have been sorely lacking in time to actually make an attempt. As Mitzuki states, the head looked exactly the same after she was done that it did before it went in so the faceup was not damaged. I'm not really sure how much easier using an epoxy would be or not, but I don't imagine doing ears would affect the faceup at all unless some modding would be done directly to the face as well. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
misskale Posted February 12, 2013 Ok... second time attempting to write this. The problems with epoxie are that it sets quickly and that you have to paint it to get it to match the skin. However, it sands to a really nice finish and is really hard. So it's great for doing things like feet. Sculpey is great because you can get it to match the color and it is workable until you bake it. Mitsuki's post has some good info on colors to mix for NS and why the faceup is generally ok. I've had really good results with using sculpey so far, though I modified it by adding sculpey ultralight. That makes it lighter, slightly flexible and "sand-able". The following are the heads I've done before the ears were sanded and the first layer of makeup. Because it's before the sanding the ears seem comparatively blocky and rough. 07 head: IMAG1276-1 by misskale, on Flickr IMAG1274 by misskale, on Flickr IMAG1273 by misskale, on Flickr 06 head: IMGP0902 by misskale, on Flickr IMGP0901 by misskale, on Flickr IMGP0900 by misskale, on Flickr
