I love their outfits but being outside Japan means I'll never get the chance to own one :/

Anyone going? I'm contemplating taking Kaycee with me. It'll be the first time I'll have taken her out the of house. I haven't decided yet though.

 

I'm going! I would love to see Kaycee--I am dying for an 07 but waiting for the regular release.

Because of last minute issues with the copyright agreement, VOLKS USA will be unable to offer DD “Sword Art Online” Asuna.

 

We know that many of you were looking forward to her, and please believe that we are just as disappointed that we will not be able to offer her to all of you, our loyal VOLKS USA customers.

 

We are still offering DDS “Witch on the Holy Night” Alice Kuonji as well as her outfit and all of the SDs that are being released this time. Please check out the link for Dolpa 29 to see them!

I'm curious, who was planning on entering for her at Volks USA anyways with that ridiculous price tag?

this is gut news for international though. less to go to us means more dolls available for international lottery

That's what I was thinking. I wonder if maybe they're just bowing out about the price hike, and the backlash they got about it.

 

I'm with shinegamix though, yay, better odds in the International lottery.

I'm sure the reason they aren't offering Asuna is due to something in the copyright agreement as they have said. Wouldn't be surprised if something was either overlooked or simply added which made it impossible for Volks USA to offer her. It wouldn't make sense for them not to offer Asuna simply because people were unhappy with her price tag otherwise they wouldn't be offering anything from Dolpa 29 or even their regular items in the store for that matter.

 

It's too bad for anyone who did want to enter for her through the USA Lottery. Yes there will be more dolls available for International, but that means more people will be entering with International now.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Asuna not being offered in the US is really and truly due to copyright issues. Aniplex holds the rights to the series -- and considering how they've done previous series releases (cough cough.. Madoka Magica ) here in the US -- I could totally see this being a legitimate issue. It's probably for the best since the price was ridiculous anyway due to their price changes.

 

Still.. weird they are just now realizing that though. I wonder if her value is going to skyrocket in aftermarket b/c you can now only get her through international?

I don't think so. Well, that is to say, her value might skyrocket, but if it did, it would be because people like the doll itself. Not because of being international-only.

 

For example, Miki Hoshii went up a lot because people liked her, but Haruka Amami stayed rock bottom because she was less popular. The Touhou girls Reimu and Marisa went up a medium amount and settled around 80k yen. Those are just four of the girls who were international-only in the past.

That makes me sad. I was planning on stacking as many chances as I could for getting an Asuna. With a copyright issue, I now wonder if she'll be available through the international lottery as well. The Touhou characters are all restricted by copyright to Japan only, so you couldn't buy one of those outside of Japan, nor could you order one from Volks if you didn't go through their physical stores or Japanese site (for shipping in Japan).

They're different. The Japan only lottery gets its own set of dolls for lottery. It also has its own dates for the lottery and after event. Usually they give you less than 24 hours to enter for the lottery for the Japan only one. And you can only enter if you have a Japanese mailing address.

 

Edit: Oh, not gonna bring Kaycee this time. I decided not to when SakuraSylph wrote down the whole list of stuff we're attempting to get, for both us and other people. Yeah, it's insane. Don't need to be carrying a doll on top of potentially all of that all the way back from Odaiba. Some people don't realize how huge Tokyo is. We live in a part of Tokyo. But it's still going to take about 2 hours one-way to get there.

 

Maybe I'll bring her to the next Tokyo Dolpa if we go. Maybe.

Wow, that's pretty lucky. Plus, I thought you could only draw for one of each doll per person? I suppose the lower ratio of Alice against Asuna shows how difficult it might be to get her...

Can I have one of the Asunas? :3 Or at least lend me some of your luck for the after event XD
