Nanoza Posted February 14, 2013 I heard a lot of people dislike it, please could someone explain? Is it because it restricts posability?
Error-Chan Posted February 14, 2013 for me its the images of the Lbust one how it looks when bent its just a bit eww.. I don't have the link in hand but I will see if I can find it later but I bet someone on here may have a link of the image =/.
waha Posted February 14, 2013 Like Error-chan, I believe the main issue is how the L bust one piece torso body deforms when you bend the arms backwards. Both the bust and the stomach deforms very badly. Luckily the M bust one doesn't have that issue and is "safe" in my eyes. It's also surprisingly easy to take apart should you ever decide to replace the neck joint or add CoolCat reinforcements to the joints. As to the posing ability of the body... it seems pretty fine to me, the entire body piece is made of very soft vinyl.
Ravendruid Posted February 17, 2013 The weird deforming is the main reason I dislike it. The other major thing I dislike about it is the inability to swap bust pieces. I don't necessarily want to have to switch a whole body just to give the girl a breast reduction/enhancement. Especially for custom busts like the Peach Pai. DJStarstryker Posted February 18, 2013 Don't think you can make the one piece torso warp like that unless you are intentionally putting the doll in crazy, unrealistic to humans poses. SakuraSylph and I gently played around with the one that Waha now has before we sold it to him, and we could NOT make that body warp just by putting it in natural poses. Are you ready to rock? ^_^
waha Posted February 18, 2013 I believe the insane warping is limited to the L bust body, as I've only seen it happen to those. Could be wrong though, as I don't own one. ^^
Suzuna Posted February 18, 2013 I'd love to see the torso pieces as an option part.
DivinitaAria Posted February 18, 2013 I think what bothers me is that that piece is designed to look more real? I guess as well as look "smooth" and without the separate bust piece... ...but the rest of the body hasn't changed. So why switch up the torso and leave the limbs looking doll-like Rise, Rise #2, Kasumi - Rise x 3// Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) // Akechi - DDH-
waha Posted February 18, 2013 ...but the rest of the body hasn't changed. So why switch up the torso and leave the limbs looks doll-like still Because it was made for outfits that show off the midriff? Miki's default outfit only has the knee joints visible if you even want to count those.
DivinitaAria Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Just going to sum it up by saying I do like the normal, jointed torso bodies, but the one piece torso is an interesting concept. Edited March 20, 2013 by Guest Rise, Rise #2, Kasumi - Rise x 3// Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) // Akechi - DDH-
otakusan Posted February 18, 2013 I have the M-bust one from Haruka... the piece is nicely sculpt, and works VERY VERY well to show off that two-piece outfit/swimsuit/lingerie. The down side is like many has already said, has NO movement what so ever. The vinyl is just too stiff to make use of the skeleton inside. and even if you manage to bend the body forward or backwards, it will warp to cause the body to look out of shape(specially the bust area), and it will bend itself back straight after a short moment. So I think it is a good piece to have if you like to do a lot of highly exposed shots But if not, save your money and get a regular body.
Shailara Posted February 18, 2013 But if you're showing off midriff you wouldn't see the bust piece anyway unless it's a bikini Unless midriff means like right below the boobs to below the belly button. I'd just always known midriff as the space a bit above and below the belly button. Also, saying it was made for outfits that show of the midriff doesn't mean the rest of the body will be covered up. But to answer the question, I am indifferent I'm not thrilled by it, I am content with the regular bodies. Also, I looked at Miki and she's practically wearing a bra. So, it would make more sense to say it was made for bodies that show off the whole torso. It's basically made for outfits with which the torso joint line would show in the regular bodies. I'm more for poseability > aesthetics, so for that reason I'd prefer the regular over the single torso any day (I like my dolls to be able to slouch basically). If someone doesn't really mind that and wants good aesthetics, and I know a lot of people who don't mind one-piece torsos on their BJDs, then I don't see why not get it. Chibi_Rat Posted November 13, 2015 Personally, I like non-jointed torsos (on both DDs and resin BJDs) so I really like that having a one-piece torso for DDs is a possibility now. Aesthetically, it is a lot nicer than the jointed torso, poseability is not really a concern for me so long as they can sit and stand well. I wish they would add it as an option part for the MDDs too!
Hustic Posted November 17, 2015 I am going to be receiving my DDS M bust body in the mail within the next few weeks, and as I understand she does come with a one piece body. I'll be sure to post back here with some comments when I do Although personally for me I prefer a good balance of aesthetics and poses. I don't need my girl to be as poseable as a human body by no means, or as realistic, but a good in between is what I'd strive for ^_^
DivinitaAria Posted November 18, 2015 I recall not being too keen on the one piece torsos but I think I want one now Now to get some lingerie for dem ladies Rise, Rise #2, Kasumi - Rise x 3// Ritsuko - 2B // Momo - M.O.M.O. // Nayuki -Mikuru // Romi - 09 // Makoto - Sailor Jupiter // Mikasa - DD07 (WIP) // Akechi - DDH-
Talolili Posted November 18, 2015 I love the one piece my Chichi (Chihaya) has and I'm looking forward to getting one for my DD3's now that Volks has made them standard items. I don't pose my dolls much either so I don't think I really need to worry about any warping.
ArtCresc Posted November 18, 2015 Hi, newer member. I think the one piece is intended for more display purposes, to serve a specific aesthetic, like a gown that reveals the full back where a continuous smooth surface is prefereable to exposing the cut line between the upper and lower body. I've been curious as to whether the internal ABS skeleton is different from the normal two-piece body; it sounds like it might be similar if she can still bend back a ways. Twisting? Can't imagine it looking too good, depending on the amount of distortion.
Kira343 Posted December 4, 2015 I have one piece DDS body and I really like. The restricted posing can be frustrating but I love how she looks in things like bathing suits since my resin dolls really can't pull it off. The biggest issue I had with my one piece torso was getting in the metal protection rings... it took me absolutely forever.
RiverR Posted December 4, 2015 I've been curious as to whether the internal ABS skeleton is different from the normal two-piece body; it sounds like it might be similar if she can still bend back a ways. Twisting? Can't imagine it looking too good, depending on the amount of distortion. Back when the one-piece torsos first came out, I think someone who owned a Miki said that the internal skeleton was the same. (Don't have the link though, sorry.) Makes sense, so they didn't have to develop a new skeleton as well as torso.
MyuMyu Posted December 5, 2015 I don't have any experience with the one piece torso so I can't talk about poseability but it looks very beautiful to me. I consider it as an option for my next doll. I remember that when they come out for first time I wanted it badly but I hadn't any money to get any of the dolls.
RiverR Posted December 5, 2015 I love the look of one-piece torsos, they are so elegant. I don't envision getting one for my first girl, though, since I want the increased poseability of the two-piece torso.
Otaku705 Posted December 5, 2015 i have the one piece torso i really didnt like it because im more used to the DDdy body sow the change was to big for me
Keijogirl Posted December 5, 2015 I don't have a DDS but I did get an Alisa and it's a bit different but not in a bad way imo. She looks sleek and sexy in the belly baring outfits of course because there's no joint to hide and she sits well. I love the look but of course there is going to be a limit to the posability of your girl. BeyondTime Posted December 5, 2015 I replaced the M Bust on my Mio Honda, and my Uzuki Shimamura with S Bust one piece torsos. For me it's a question of aesthetics; I don't like the look of the M DDS bust, and the one piece looks better in mid-drift revealing outfits. Volks really needs to do a better job on the DDS M bust imo. The DD M bust has a nice shape, but the DDS M bust doesn't look realistic. One-piece torsos are less pose-able, but I can't speak to the L bust warping issue. I don't like the L busts on DD or DDS, so I have zero experience with them. I usually pick a bust size and stick with it, so the inability to swap busts out easily isn't a big deal. The exception to this would be my Kos-Mos. I replaced her L bust with an S, but when she wears her default outfit I have to swap the L back in for it to fit properly. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
Nolluska Posted December 6, 2015 I'm having a DDS body on the way and I really don't like the default M bust on it. For me it feels kinda awkward and not realistic enough. (Not that I stare boobs of dolls all the time) I got really excited when Volks released their one piece torsos, I hope I'll get one some day or at least a small bust for my girl. I'd love to see more pictures of girls with these torsos. Yet I can't decide which one I want.
