Tieren Posted March 4, 2013 I've only flown domestic in Canada with them but I've never had a problem. Last summer I padded one in my checked luggage and at Christmas I had two in my carry-on luggage. It was a bit tight because they were too tall for the bag. Sometimes I take the legs off my DD3 body to make it more compact.
GreenDragon Posted December 16, 2013 I've been wondering about this question. I would be worried about putting her in check-in luggage, so it's good to see that carry-on works okay. Hopefully going to Japan in the next year and for sure want to take a few dolls.
jadepixel Posted December 17, 2013 I brought Lucy and a CoolCat stand with me from Seattle to LAX using a Volks carrier. I had a little trouble at security - apparently the plastic base from the CC stand looks like a 'paste' on the scanner. Probably means c4 or something like that! But once I opened up the bag and showed the stand, the agent seemed satisfied. She took the bag back to run through the scanner once more, and to show the cute doll to her friend XD At the gate most carryons were getting checked, but I didn't offer mine and they didn't ask. I think it helps that the bag looks like it holds equipment or an instrument. If the gate agents ask you to gatecheck the bag, insist that it's valuable and fragile and that you can't check it. That will work unless you really are last to board, and then you'll just have to take out the doll and carry her in your lap jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

AntElitist Posted December 26, 2013 I hand carried the penguin suit into the plane with me recently. awesome feeling. would suggest people to do that often.
Qbee Posted December 26, 2013 I've always wondered what's a good way to travel with dolls. I'm worried about her shuffling around in the bag so maybe something with a lot of cushion or padding to keep her in place.
CuteOne Posted December 28, 2013 I've traveled with my dolls before, usually I tend to bring the lighter/smaller ones with me especially if I want to carry on. I wrap them up in really thick towels and then put some cushions in there just to be safe. This was with my resin dolls but I'd probably do the same thing with my Dollfie and considering she's so light that'll just make it a breeze!
ilkaril Posted January 2, 2014 i work in an airport and i have traveled with my dollfie dream there was no problem the woman that x-rayed her was choked sens she has a skeleton but not more then that. I have taken my girl as cabin baggage from Osaka, London and Stockholm and newer had more trubbel than that. ^^ if you have a full set doll though like saber ore Sakuya that has swords don't bring the swords that's not aloud. Any thing ells should be ok ^^
crappyshappyshaw Posted January 9, 2014 I went recently to my parent's for Thanksgiving, taking along my dear dolly, and had a rough time with TSA. In Philadelphia I had a very gruff-looking woman go through my doll bag (she literally searched EVERYWHERE in there!), and even tore off the wig from her. I was horrified. On my trip back it was no different. I went through LAX, and perhaps because it was the wee hours of the morning, security gathered around my bag and proceeded to take her out of the bag and dump her onto the checking table along with a few other things (brush, hands, etc.), then shove them all back in after finding nothing. I'm glad no one else has experienced this, but for me it was absolutely rude.

Pahsmina Posted April 2, 2014 ): Wow that sounds terrible. I am very happy that nothing happened with my girl when I traveled with her to Japan. Guest Aurea Posted April 2, 2014 I bet they would be surprised if they did that to a Rozen Maiden. *opens case to dump out* #!!WHACK to the face!!# Joke aside, I would have some serious issues with someone who mistreated my stuff like that. I guarantee with phone cameras now you could seriously cause issues for people who neglect others property. I think this is one of many reasons I am happy to be indoors as a hermit. Wintergrey Posted April 4, 2014 I posted about this in my Introduction thread by one of my first experiences of dollfie ownership was an airport experience. I bought Su, dressed her in a SD13 temporary outfit, bought her new clothes from Volks and left Japan. I wanted her to be properly dressed for her homecoming so during my 8 hour stopover in KL I tried to wrap a towel around her and strip her as carefully as possible. I probably would have gotten away with it except for her bra. It had two hooks and for the life of me I could get both hooks to clasp at the same time. I looked up and the *entire* airport waiting lounge was staring at Su and myself. ... Once she was fully dress a lot of people came over to ask questions about her. I'm not sure I ever stopped blushing during the rest of the stopover.
kastalia Posted April 6, 2014 I've travelled internationally a lot with my (resin) girls and have never had any trouble. Resin dolls have metal S-hooks which do show up on the x-ray machine, but that's not the case for DDs so I think your biggest worry would be damage in transit. I generally wrap my doll in a towel or something padded and take her in my carry-on. I'm sorry to hear about some people having bad experiences with their dolls being manhandled! Perunaprinssi Posted May 28, 2014 I'll be taking both of my dolls into a plane with me in couple days and I'm an absolute nervous wreck because of it. This will be the first time I'm taking dolls into an airplane. Most of you have said that there are no problems with it, but I'm still worried (probably also due to the fact that I suffer from an intense fear of flying). So now I'm just hoping everything goes well. Luckily I own a Volks carrier bag which makes traveling a lot easier.
Proctor of the Dawn Posted June 8, 2014 Hmmm so far I haven't had a bad experience with BJDs and customs in general. I would say that BJDs should have more problems since the X-ray scan that seems to be the norm in most customs areas should detect the metal hooks inside most BJDs... -.- My personal experience taking a flight to and from Hong Kong to Singapore was quite pleasant. I carried my Rina through customs as a passport holder and none of the officials blinked lol
Innocentsake Posted June 9, 2014 This past weekend I made a really quick trip to San Francisco so I could attend the CCBJD con in Orinda, CA. Since I was only going to be there for just one day I only took one doll. The lucky girl was my MDD Tsukiko I was slightly worried even though the majority of comments on here & from friends said I would have no problems. I had nothing to worry about though! Tsukiko got packed in a pillow carrying case along with my Pure Neemo Kirino. She was fully dressed as was Kirino with only a small towel & comb in there with them. When I got to the TSA check area I unzipped the pillow just in case they wanted to open it up and see what was inside, but there was no need. Both trips the TSA didn't even bat an eye at the pillow carrying case. She went through the scanner, came out, and I was on my way. Now that I know I won't have problems I won't need to worry about when I travel to Dollism in September with two dolls. Also I had no trouble in keeping the pillow carrying case as my personal item. Got to rest on her when I was tired hehe~
YouRei Posted June 15, 2014 A friend used to travel around with his doll, once when passing customs, he had to dissasemble his entire doll in front of the agents incase there could have been contraband, weapons or explosives @.@ Probably the safest way to bring over your dolls to other countries is to have it shipped via mail. archeotech Posted December 13, 2014 So just got back from Tokyo and I remembered this thread. Anyway at the end of the holiday we had run out of space in our suitcases and were just over the weight limited as well, and well we still needed to get a MDD body from Volks, but what do? So this is my most unusual method of transporting a doll through an airport. In my pockets... Yes in the two pockets of my coat! Each part of the body was wrapped up and it worked out! ^^

Where was this experience? Your friend seems to be the odd man out here! I've taken several dolls in my carry on to Mexico and the US and no one batted an eye. Having to take Annie or Nia apart to get through customs is just a tiny blip compared to the worry I'd have sending them through the mail. Sounds more embarrassing than anything. MileenaAngel Posted December 18, 2014 I'm too scared to bring my DD's out of the house yet let alone travel. But if I do leave the states and head to Europe to see family I'd likely bring my whole crew
foo Posted March 8, 2015 Does anyone have experience taking the Volks SD Carrying Case as carry-on? I'm looking at taking that, my normal carry-on, and my tripod bag (which is very slim, more like a tube than a bag). That kind of breaks the 1 personal + 1 standard carry-on allowance though (・・') I'm hoping they'll "ignore" the tripod because it's so slender. I know in the past I've gone waaay over the limit for carry on allowance by taking stuff I bought, but I've seen some people get chastised by airline attendants for simple things. To be honest, I'm not convinced that it's a great idea to take a girl with me …>_<…

Probably gonna be a case by case basis, but while staff allowed me to carry that bag on my flight , I've heard from other local owners that they weren't allowed to bring the doll carriers as carry on once. Of course that was apparently only an issue because there were several of them traveling together, but it probably should be fine for you Also probably gonna note, I'm not sure if it's the case for you, but here CREW: Haruna (Alter V2 remakeup ver) ☆ Nyx (Rise remakeup ver) ☆ Senka (Rise ) ☆ Aila (DDH-01) ☆ Nero (Saber Extra) ☆ Sora (Miku) ☆ Anemone (Sasara V2) ☆ Beauvoir (Sheryl Nome Remakep ver) ☆ Nymnir Nyven (Yuriko & Liliru) ☆ Jeanne D' Arc ☆ Y'shtola ☆ Leucothea (2b Remakeup ver) IG
Jezrah Posted March 8, 2015 Where do you plan on storing the carrier though? I personally wouldn't want it in the overheads, that bag is still just soft sided and may get squashed. But it also won't fit fully under the seat so you may not be abke to keep it out either. I took a girl on a plane once curled up in a square padded bag that fit under the seat in front of me and she was fine. Other times I put them in my carryon itself since it's hard sided. But personally I would never even try to take a Volks carrier since it's too long.
